Great review. Salty Dogs is in my top 3 tobaccos, I love it and deep cellar it. I will say, it gets A LOT better with age! Come back to it in a few years, trust me.
One of my favourite tobacco plugs if not my favourite yet. From start to finish it’s just so enjoyable.

Fantastic timing for a review of this tobacco. I live in Germany and have been thinking about trying this blend. It’s only 13.50€ here. However, I shy away from blends with rum as they tend to bite. Love your vids. Thank you!

Salty Dogs is a lovely, tasty plug. For me, it pairs wonderfully with a cuppa black tea ☕. It is especially flavorful when smoked in a clay pipe.

Totally agree. A wonderful plug tobacco. World really well in a wider bowl imp, I smoke it mostly in a Bulldog. nice review.

Excellent blend, Wilson, one of my favorites. BTW, I tried the shredder approach from your earlier video on plugs. I won’t be recommending that approach to anyone as it demolishes the plug and produces a lot of very fine debris. Better to slice using an Ulu knife and then rub out or cube cut it. - Sam

Hmm that's interesting. My pieces were quite uniform and without any dust/debris. It could be the size of the shredding holes possibly? Regardless, no worries.
Hi Spurgeon piper, GOD bless you brother! I have a question for you, I want to try the cult blood moon tobacco but I am put off by the imagery on the tin! Just wondering what you think? Should a Christian support a product that displays negative iconography? I defer to your wisdom sir.

I don't think there's any wrong with the tin art nor for that matter, the name. I wouldn't call a skull negative iconography and the name of the line of tobacco (Cult) is speaking to smoking a pipe within a companion of others. Unless your conscience keeps you from it, enjoy it to the glory of God.

I agree with you brother if it were merely a “skull” I would have no issue with it, in fact I would argue a skull can be a great witness to the impermanence of this life and giving us all a sense of the importance of the eternal over and above the temporal. I mean this in the best possible way; please look at the tin art again and you will see that the skull has horns and is not just a skull. GOD bless you and your family and Happy Piping!
Great video, I just got me some salty dogs. If I were to cellar these, should I take them out of the plastic pouch? Boswell's has Salty Dogs as well.👍
I would feel comfortable keeping it in the pouch for a year. More than that, transfer.

This is the tobacco that lured me away from aromatics and into the full world of differing blends. I love Salty Dogs and it is still the tobacco I reach for on particularly great days; the tobacco I treat myself with. It’s not cheap, but worth every puff.
I didn’t care for it and passed it on. Much prefer GLP’s Haddo’s Delight,Sillem’s Councillor 1695, Davidoff’s Flake Medallions, Rattray’s Marlin Flake, Hearth & Home’s Viprati, or at a slightly lower level, C&D’s Chenet’s Cake or GLP’s Penny Farthing or GLP’s Kajun Kake. Salty Dogs is massively over-rated.
It’s a wonderful smoke with great flavor & taste . Will try the bigger bowel next time! 👍👍🏜️
