I have to give this one the thumbs down. Beautiful tins and great marketing. I wish I could like it but to me it's like smoking crystalized cough syrup. This is the only tobacco that ever ghosted a pipe badly enough to subtract from the next few bowls. If you're going to try this one, use a cheap pipe.

I've always wanted to try one but I just don't trust Aluminium, the Alzheimer's controversy is too scary a risk. Especially with that wire scratching the stem before passing moist smoke through it. Make a Titanium one and I'd give it a go!

I had seen these before but they’ve never caught my attention, until now, probably, as you mention, because of their looks. If you say they smoke cool I really need to give them a chance, I like my corncobs for that reason but although they smoke cool in my opinion they also look dirty as they get smoked more and also have a stronger smell when stored, I don’t want my family to have to smell my stinky pipes. Don't try the potato slice (or apple, or anything else); you'll get mold, and ruin your tobacco.

I put one of those little mesh screens made for pipes, at the bottom of my Falcon bowl. Prior to that I would get some tobacco falling down into the Humidome area that would get soggy and non-smokable. Not a lot, but it annoyed me and was easily remedied. I also took the advice I saw on a UA-cam channel somewhere and used Everclear alcohol to swab out the bowl rigorously to remove the finish out from INSIDE the bowl. Extra careful to not get any alcohol on the outside of the bowl. My first few smokes before doing so were pretty nasty. Then I saw it mentioned somewhere that apparently the whole bowl is 'finished' the same way. Once I did the alcohol scrub, I no longer had the varnish-like taste, for lack of a better term.

Hiyas Wilson, Falcon pipes were made right here in Chicago until the mid 60's, consequently my Granddad and great Uncles all had several in their pipe rotation. They are utilitarian and rugged pipes and great for smoking outdoors, as long as it's above freezing 😊 they do tend to freeze up when it's below 20°F.

I am BRAND NEW to pipe smoking and have fallen in love with it. Thanks for the video on helping us new folks maintain a love for it!

Hello, thank you for your advice. The jars of the brand "Le Parfait" are also very good glass pots of excellent quality to preserve the pipe tobacco (with interchangeable joints). Good tasting.

I have several of these plus some increasingly attractive bowls (the last one I bought was block meerschaum that looks like light coloured wood from a distance). They're comfortable (what with their lightness and the different types of mouthpiece), easy to use and especially clean and i don't mind stuffing them into pockets or getting knocked around. I also think they look the part to be honest although some would disagree. The design was obviously inspirational as i also have a competitor pipe in the form of a Dr. Plumb Peacemaker which does have a couple of aspects that are better than the Falcons but overall i think the Falcons win.

Great outdoor pipe. Drop it, no problem. Just change the bowl and you can smoke it multiple times. I don’t use the “rings” I used to but to be honest it smokes just as cool and dry without it. Just clean it like any other pipe. I use mine in the garden mostly, so I don’t have to worry about breaking a pipe or burning it out. Easy to get another bowl. Had the same 2, one straight and one bent for 20yrs. As good as new. 👍

Do you build cake in falcon?

While I'm not a huge fan of the aesthetics of the Falcon, I very much appreciate how cool my straight Virginia blends smoke compared to a full briar. The ability to change the bowls is an excellent way to have multiple blend-dedicated bowls in a smaller area than the same number of full size pipes.

Falcons are my pipe of choice. FYI, the mouthpiece is not meant to be removeable. I dont bother with the dry rings as they restrict the draw, and simply wipe out the humidome between smokes with tissue. My favorite stem is the "Multipurpose" bit. Great to clench. I have bowls that are 40 years old and still going strong. And a collection of 5 or so stems. Enjoy.

Thank you for reviewing the Falcon system. The Happy Piper in Janesville,Wi has a nice selection of them on there website and Wilson is correct on the price $30-40 on the stems same for the bowls. Less than $100 to get setup. The stems have dental mouth pieces for clenching and and an international stem that looks like a traditional pipe. If you’re on the fence I would recommend adding one to your pipe collection. Thanks again Wilson for the review.

I’m a big fan of Falcons and I believe that with certain tobaccos the flavours can pop much better in a Falcon and are great for when out and about as you can have a couple of filled bowls in your pocket ready to swap over. As for the moisture rings the only Falcon ones I’ve used are the one that comes with the pipe as I make my own by simply using a stylus and winding a pipe cleaner around it then snipping it off until I’ve got a good few to go at. Packing I do find packing that bit tighter then using your pipe tool spike poke through to the humidor and the pipe will smoke very well indeed I like the fact there are so many different designs and colours of to suit everyone and the bantam bowls are great for a shorter smoke. Finally for me as I clench a lot a rubber bit as it makes it so much more comfortable in the mouth and something to bite on to as without it’s so slim and I’ve got no control over the pipe.

I have a question about falcons 🤔 so no better place to ask than a new video about falcon pipes 😊 Q.for a person who holds a pipe in their hand for the most part . Does the bowl come unscrewed very easily in your hand ? While your smoking. I dont clench often and these seem a clenching pipe i didnt wanna blow the Benjamins on one if it will come unscrewed in my hand a lot . Many thanks

Look up Jack Hargreaves - a famous English countryman & countryside television presenter who smoked a Falcon pipe on air - his programmes were wonderful and many are now on UA-cam - I think you will enjoy his films - “Dave Knowles - Filmmaker” is the channel to look for

Ironically I had just received my order with a falcon pipe and two bowls the day this uploaded. I have an older kit with some mixed bowls from an antique shop I'm refurbishing as well.

Great review, I would add, extremely easy to clean. Don't over tighten the bowl as it can hurt the gasget and mess with the draw. I've replaced my gaskets with silicon rings, and that is a decent upgrade. I like it being a convertible. Feeling briar, put one on. If I want meerschaum, put it on. If I want to change the size of the bowl and / or color? You get it... Is it classy as an artisan briar? No, but it was never meant to be, but briar were never meant to be versatile. So there is solace in both...

I have four of these that I use mostly to loan to guests, or for camping, or for testing an occasional aromatic that I don't want to try in one my good pipes, not that these are pipes aren't good, but I love my Peterson P-Lip System pipes. I always cut pipe cleaners for the dry ring, works great. I have recommended these pipes to friends for a first pipe, and will continue to do so.

Did you break that pipe? Falcon stems don’t come out of the frame. The only removable part is the bowl .

Been smoking them for a few years now and love them? I have Briar and meerschaum bowls price point is spot on. I have 4 currently wouldn’t trade them for all the tea in China.

My first pipe was a bronze straight falcon about a year ago! I think they are awesome “First Pipe”! I’ve never had tongue bite with mine, and I still use it regularly

I have a couple Falcon stems and an assortment of different bowls for them (one bowl for Burleys and Virginias, one for aromatics, one for English blends, and one for Lakelands plus a meerschaum bowl that I just smoke everything in) and I absolutely love them! They're definitely in strong competition with the Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman with a Forever Stem for the title of my favorite pipe! As far as something you don't know about Falcons goes... the mouthpiece and central stem tube aren't supposed to come off! 😅

I haven't bought one *yet* but I do know that when I looked them up and seen how cheep they were I was surprised. Usually for something 'different' there is a higher price but it looks like they actually priced it according to the material value

I just bought one myself! It's great. The moisture rings work very well! Mine has the chimney bowl and I'd like to get a few more bowls. Totally worth the money. They are almost steampunkish.

Huh... I didn't think the stem was removable! I have two and the stems appear to be fixed. Decent small pipes. Smoke cool, but you really need the pipe cleaner ring because that aluminum bowl collects a lot of condensate.

What is cleaning the stem like?
