it's amazing how many methods there are. what's common here in australia is when you've flaked the whole thing including the tail you take the three fold on each side and fold them each under the next flap up. where you grab all three and fold them over one side at a time. i'll stick to my method cos i'm used to it but yours is much quicker and makes sense to me that it would work well. the other difference is, and i think this is important is when you put the canopy in the container after your fold you wrap the centre cell air inlet over the whole pack job so it's the first thing that catches air. thanks for the vid though very clean packing

If the primary stow makes you more confident at the exit point by all means go for it. If you have a KISS mentality, and you'd rather have one less thing, albeit minor, in the way of you and an open canopy, don't bother with a primary stow on slider-OFF pack jobs. Slider UP, the primary stow is essential in keeping the slider in the UP position until line stretch, since there is no deployment bag used. If you really want to get your head spinning you can think about the primary stow creating a singular pivot point for the pack-job to rotate off-heading on during deployment! All these theoretical questions are fun to think about when you're not jumping but years of field testing has shown no difference in performance.
I thought that was pretty wild as well! I personally do a variation for my SD primary stow but have never just opted to skip it entirely. I do a single wrap of the rubber band for a SD primary stow and a double wrap for SU. My reasoning is totally just opinion only (opinions in BASE!? Wild, I know.) but I feel like a double wrap could be too tight to pop cleanly at a low air speed, potentially causing an off heading, hence the single for SD. P.S. I’m just hear to look at different nose flaking and reduction fold variations.

Thats why we used to say in the 90's "packing is an art". Packing a base rig is modern art.

I thought packing a BASE rig would be similar to packing a skydiving container. I was very wrong. It is a lot more involved than I thought.
