* AnimalHeadSpirit * wingsuiting does not have such a high death rate, BASE does. What do you mean by 'searching for meaning'. Isn't that exactly what a lot of jumpers do? Amazing stuff and terrifying at the same time. I've seen plenty of wingsuit videos, but have no idea how tracking compares to it. How much (or, realistically, how little?) margin for error is there in these lines when tracking? Enjoy your sport and stay safe buddy.
A crazy amount of skill in tracking is needed man. I am just a begginner with 90 skydives, but I can tell you that the slightest movement of my head position (nodding some milimiters) made me lose my track and sent me straight down vertically while safely skydiving from a plane last time I tried. The Great Mechanized Ape you will need some 2000 $ / € or £ for your first AFF learning jumps; about 15 to 20 jumps even I recomend 3000 or more just in case that you had to repeat levels (I had to repeat 2, which was extra 350 bucks). From here and on you will want to improve skills, jump with others... It's lots of effort, but fun as hell and worth every penny. It's a lifestyle. Once you get your equipment and gear, second hand first usually, your jumps' price will decrease to approximately 20 to 25 bucks depending on the DZ. Some years later... God knows, you could be in the elite, doing stuff like this or working as an instructor. Good luck with it and as we say; Blue Skies brother!
