I am curious, can the pilot chute packing be implemented in regular skydiving? I suspect you fold the mesh and bridle like that so the chance of entanglement with the bridle is minimalised and the extraction is easier.
I learned skydiving in the military and in the beginning we were folding the canopy laying down like he did. not nearly as precice but it works. it just takes longer to fold.
@ Maddingo. I have packed various styles of BASE pilot pack styles into my sport rig and all have worked, not to say they are the best for sport jumping. I think that you need to talk to a rigger, some TIs, and other experienced sport jumpers and actually see what they are doing. Ask and chat on the topic of things like "monkey fists" , the way the pilot would/wouldn't come out in the event of a "horse shoe malfunction", and the likely hood of a tangle or knot in the bridle. (chances of tangles can, in theory, be reduced by stacking the bridle in progressively smaller folds while stacking upward which is not done in this video, base jumpers often use longer bridles and larger pilot chutes, which causes attention to focus on those items also) I have a friend who tossed a pilot chute that went into a knot of floating bridle that actually cinched the pilot chute shut. Be safe and use the knowledge/mistakes of those before you to your advantage. This is just a short answer and there is more to all of it if you break it down enough. Spend time at drop zones, ask for opinions, and interact with other jumpers who do things differently. (there may be a reason) Good body position and a nice throw can prevent alot from going wrong. : )
You might find it hard to pack the PC this way in a skydive rig without having the zp slip out and your hacky start flopping around possibly leading to a premature deployment. Base rigs have super tight BoC and no handle on the PC that would add extra drag and weight that pulls on the zp...
Your rigger probably does when they pack your reserve. But for a main canopy, it doesn't matter if it's perfectly packed since you're not relying on it to save your life.
Two main reasons: 1) the tailgate's job is performed by the Slider and 2) there have been reports of entanglements by the tailgate with the mesh of big hole sliders.

Thank you for the focus and clear informations. Nice instructive video

Great video man. Thanks for the effort. Everything covered.
Is this parachute for suiciders?
No why would they use a parachute?
Awesome. Is this the reserve parachute!!!
There's no reserve in BASE.
THIS PARACHUTE IS FOR BASEJUMP, ISN T IT.??
yes :)
Do you even read the titles ??
Why don't we use clamps for packing skydiving rigs?
Your rigger probably does when they pack your reserve. But for a main canopy, it doesn't matter if it's perfectly packed since you're not relying on it to save your life.
it is simply not necessary.

Nah. Do a psycho pack. Much quicker and then you’re expecting the 180 opening.
My God it s so difficult!!!
No, no it is not. You can literally do this in 6 minutes or less

my dude pronounces the k in "knee"
Oh for fucks sake just flake it, fold it, and stuff it, and enjoy the rest of your damn day. Packing a parachute isn't rocket science.
How many BASE jumps do you have VooDoo?
(PS: are you still hauling meat in Mexico?)

Way to much fucking work for one jump. Not my cup of tea.
