Javi Rt Sarcasm bro. No NFL team would line up a corner who is flat out bad against some of the best receivers in NFL history, meaning hes not even close to being the worst corner ever.
JahRunItUp How did he make it to the NFL, make an NFL roster, make it onto the field during a game, and then find himself lined up against NFL legends if he is the worst corner in NFL history? The worst corners ever would never even make a high school team, the worst corners in NFL history would never be seen on the field. The fact that there is NFL regular season game tape of him at all means he was far from being the worst corner in NFL history let alone throughout all levels of football. You can put together a 5 min compilation of any corner in NFL history, even Deion, just getting smoked by a mile play after play, doesnt mean theyre the worst corners in history.
Yeah he was getting beat, but look at who he was getting beat by. TO, Ochocinco, Steve Smith, Joey Galloway, Plaxico Burress etc. Some of the best CBs in the league couldn't hang with these guys.
Josh Lynch I understand it, but everyone fucks up every now and then. The point is this guy was in his final season and most of the clips were of him getting worked by some of the best in the league at that time. To call him the worst is a bit of a stretch.
HomemadeNub Probably, I can make cuts and have speed, whether I'd catch the ball or not is a different story, but I could probably beat him for speed and agility.
The title is cynical, but I can see his mistakes. 1.) He's watching a QB for about 2 seconds or more, while covering Ochocinco, T.O. and Plaxico. That's an elementary mistake. Instead of looking at his own WR, he's covering and maybe looking for a split second at the QB, he stops and looks at the QB too long. 2.) He trips up, while trying to cover Burress. And he loses his balance about 3 times more in this video. That's a horrible mistake to make, if you're playing in the pros. Keeping the back straight, so the balance points vertically, is crucial. Otherwise, you're prone to lose your balance. 3.) On 1 play (against T.O. on the Cowboys), he doesn't go for a conservative play. Instead of going for a batted ball, he goes for an INT, but instead it's a TD.
ya that and most of the deep bombs that he gives up you can tell the safety was suppose to have top side and he has underneath just like 90% of other cornerbacks do this guy is just a salty ass loser that never made it to the NFL so he has to try and talk shit about a sport he has no idea how to play at all. I feel so sorry for this guy he must just hate his life and prolly beats his wife or as i have to say now his boyfriend.
If he made it to the Nfl Then hes not the worst ever Seriously. For the guy who made this video your a bum honestly, you have no idea how hard it is to play corner.
Why wasn't his eyes on the WR's he was covering. It seems he paid too much attention to who the QB was going to throw the ball too and not focusing enough on his man. He definitely isn't the worse CB ever... Maybe one of the worse in the NFL but he wasn't that bad if he played in the NFL for 10 yrs. Somebody thought he was good enough to earn a starting job
Funny thing is, the people who say he sucks and is terrible probably couldn't guard a 3rd string D3 Receiver. Correction, they probably couldn't even play football PERIOD. probably trip over their own two feet trying to backpedal. #KnowYourPlace
Here is your problem. I don't have to be able to play football to judge football players. I'm not the one who is paid millions of dollars. Just as I don't have to be a director to say a movie is terrible or be a chef to say a meal is bad. I don't understand why you think we have to be something to judge that thing, idiot
TheCephalon The thing is, chefs and movie directors do what they do for the people. Football players don't play for the fans, they play for the ring. They're money may come from the people but they can give a shit's less about playing for them. Fans are wishy washy.
_Jaydee_ safety is not that easy at some point they have to cover two receivers at the same time by splitting the difference between the two receivers.
No because I came back to see what people would say now I've never seen to watch this all the time for laughs but y'all are co-signing getting cooked now a days 😭
199th pick to CHAMPION let me tell you this, I am a Saints fan, look at Browner's games, TELL ME HOW HE LOOKED GOOD, HE HAD PENALTIES IN ALL BUT 2 GAMES (the last two of the season, no less) and was beat by every receiver, hell, I could beat him, all he did was stand there
Derryck Tarver Yea man. I think on some of the plays he expected a Free safety to help him. But the safety is either far away or just slow to recognize the receiver.
If he is the worst cornerback in the NFL, why did he play against WR like Steve Smith, Chad Johnson or Burress (NY Giants)? Those were very good receivers when they played in the NFL.
Frd Thomas isn't the worst Cornerback theres no worst one every corer makes mistakes or somebody gets into there head so he's not the only corner who makes big mistakes
Notice at :51 into this clip it's obvious he's playing a press and release zone. He pressed the wr and released him over the top to the safety, but where was the safety? That's just 1 example from this clip of how bad Josh Bullocks was
This Vid is a compilation of his bad plays. Make one of good ones and I bet it's 3 times longer than this. Fred Was a very good corner with little help around him. He played along sides the likes of Bullocks, Bellamy, and Harper throughout his career. I won't even name the other corners he played besides.
mikedaflexta Mike McKenzie, Sammy Knight at safety... He had really good/ decent players BUT FOR SOME REASON the NFL PICKED Fred Thomas to treat like a rookie every game. I used to watch all the Saints games, this video is too short. The video shows the receivers people know.. I've watched him get done by no names, drop COUNTLESS CLUTCH interceptions, miss CLUTCH swats.. sometimes he could've gotten called with pass interference and it would've been a better move than just being there
Wow, this is some shit you'd see from a second stringer in high school. Fred Thomas was a great DB, but this was his last year in the NFL after a 13 year career. He seems tired or something.
Half of those were the safeties fault and you expect me to believe a corner sucks because you show him getting beat by CHAD JOHNSON, TERRELL OWENS, STEVE SMITH SR, AND JOEY GALLOWAY!?!?!?! GTFOH, I can't even watch the rest of video.
Guys, in a zone scheme you always look in the Backfield. Even Primetime would´ve, if he would´ve been asked to. As pointed out most of the time up against the best WR, a lot of Tampa 2, with very little help from OLB or Safety, and horrible Gameplan... so ok he´s not Primetime, but who is? Revis? Bailey? Talib? come on ;-)
Let me see you go against any WR i bet you'll do worse, If you see what everyone else says I agree, He looks at the QB to much and that's a easy fix for him to make.
Renegade Wa Brandon browner has a solid career with Seattle and and was solid for the patriots the problem was he was to big and slow should of played safety
The Smith plays are just not coverable. Nobody can cover that kind of pay, it's like the new back shoulder play that a CB really cannot cover. Also, most of these plays are not Fred's fault. Fred is playing cover 2 which means his responsibility as a CB on that side is to jam his WR and cover any RB out of the backfield and then move back to the flat on his side of the field and then if nothing there comes out he can move back even farther but he is not supposed to be on top the WR and certainly isn't in man coverage. The S is the problem here.
@Leo Davinci- you do realize that fred thomas fails to beat receivers on the inside battle and constantly falls off them. I can also tell you that it isn't always his job to watch the rb. On my HS team, I had responsibility of the rb on cover 2 (LB) I do agree though that it is the safety's fault as well because thomas was getting no help at all. On plays with zone, he got no safety help and on plays with man, again, no safety help. His responsibility on cover two though, is to keep on his man if there is no rb. if there is a rb then a lb is supposed to cover the rb. Fred just didn't have the safety help to make any of those big plays. But the one where he lets the ball slip out of his hand into owen's is flat out sad play right there.
well in the poor guys defense, covering WRs like Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, and Keyshawn Johnson, one-on-one is usually not going to turn out good lol those guys can make ANY cornerback look mediocre and those guys show up on this vid more than once haha he should have had help and those WRs should have been double teamed
that first smith catch.....fucking deion sanders couldnt cover a catch like that. Thats just pure Steve Smith skills. Yes Thomas was bad, but those type of plays make anyone look bad.
Jansen Estrada Bullshit Sanders couldn't cover that. He caught it because he beat the CB initially and Deion wouldn't let that happen. He may be the best CB to ever play the game (this coming from somebody who loves the Bears)
He was the best CB ever to play. but where the ball was thrown and the difficulty of the play would make it nearly impossible for him to do so. Yeah thomas got beat initially and couldnt recover. And yeah Deion probably wouldnt get beat initially either but how that ball was placed and caught is ridiculous. You cant take that away from Smith.
Jansen Estrada No lie i hate people like u this guy is a better corner than u guys. He is one of the best corners in the USA because he is one of the few that made it
Derrik Allen Well no shit he's better. He's in the NFL. Listen, I'm not bashing the corner. as a LB I respect my corners since they got a lot to work at to make the defenses job easier. I'm just pointing out that sanders is the best CB to ever play the game and there is not a snowballs chance in hell that you can deny that. I'm not bashing this guy at all. Cool, he struggled, oh well, but my point is that Sanders is the best to play the game.
Jansen Estrada The point was that the catch was possible because smith beat him initially. I hated playing man coverage because if a faster receiver got past me it was over no matter what. Sanders wouldn't let that happen, and he wouldn't let that much space between him and the offensive player. I also give a lot of credit to smith for catching it, but your job as a receiver is easier when you can get an initial jump on the CB. I also give a lot of credit to CB's because they got a tough job. Like I said, I hate playing man coverage just because of that. and I agree that derrik has no idea what he is fucking talking about.
he may get beat often, but look what he's wearing. he has an NFL uniform, anyone with that from starter to back up deserves respect. cuz anyone talking shit to the dude isn't in the league and he is 👍 props to him he's trying his best...hopefully
Super hard to gauge his play. The safety could be blowing his assignments, receivers finding holes in the zones, quarterback having too much time to find a receiver......He's also matched up against Plaxico in his Prime, Chad Johnson in his Prime, Steve Smith who's always Prime & T.O.
+Chicago Bears Superfan 5 not hard, I watched all 3 years of his trash live, he was THAT bad. I had never and have yet to see a corner as bad as him. Some say Browner is worse, but Browner lacks the speed to cover WR's so he gets handsy and draws penalties, Fred was just stupid. He got torched EVERY time was never close enough to his man to even draw a penalty, wasn't physical, people ran right by him. It was so bad that teams would constantly just toss the ball to whatever side he lined up on and while the ball was in the air we would be like "look at Fred, look at Fred...." Awful and yes, probably one of the worst EVER.
+Blazing2Glory1 no it isnt, if he were playing a zone he played right but it was man an you dont stare at a qb without having a clue as to where your man is. It was bump and run coverage so during his "bump" thats when he should have seen either a run or a pass. But as soon as the receiver makes him turn his feet, or pass him, thats when the cb should have stayed on the receiver
During that 04-08 run Fred Thomas did get victimized by a lot of recievers but the defensive back position (particularly the cornerback position) is the most difficult position to consistently excel at in the NFL especially with today's rules.
This cracks me up taking the time to make a lowlight video of a CB, and yes he did have some lol biffs on defense. I can imagine whoever made this video was fueled by years of yelling at the guy on TV
I am corner back and I would agree with ForgotEnglish in saying "is the hardest position," in defense to play. I am good at what I do. Best in the leagues I play at. But It'd be a lie to say in the 4 years(2 years in school and 2 out of school) that I didn't get bad beats a lot. Some receivers are just fast, tall, and/or your foot work is just shy of perfect. Though I wished I had a video of all my bad beats... then a video of all my picks. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."
Most these highlights was in 2006. He was 33 and that was his last season. He had lost a step. He was a good cornerback but was past his prime in 2006.
He's being beat by the best wide receivers in the NFL. Defensive coordinator set him up to fail. You just don't cover those types of receivers man to man, you'll get burnt as a team. Seems the quarter backs had all day to throw the ball. Where's the pass rush, No QB should have more than 3 seconds to get rid of the ball ever.
If hes even on the field, let alone lined up against TO, Ochocinco, young Steve Smith, or Plaxico Burress, I guarantee you hes not as bad as you'd think from watching this (you could theoretically make another much longer video like this showing worse or just as bad lowlights from any cornerback in NFL history). Some of these plays he made the most minor, miniscule mistakes and they produced horrific results (tipping easy picks after playing great coverage, allowing the receiver to catch it off the tip, play great coverage and getting his hand in the right spot but just being outmuscled for the ball, playing great coverage but getting Moss'd, etc). I 100% guarantee the most athletic person you have met in your life could not cover those guys for shit, many of these clips were in zone and when he'd pass a receiver to another defender they wouldnt be honoring their responsibility and give up a big play, making him look bad. Of course he was making mistakes, he def needs to get his eyes out of the backfield, but it shows you're an amateur football fan if you think just from this video that he's the "worst cornerback ever".
Wow. Seriously tho; I blame the coaches. Why the fuck would they continue to put this guy out there on an island against top-tier receivers like that? It's clearly all he can do to keep from tripping over his own damn feet, let alone cover an NFL wide receiver. Yet they insisted on continually handing out big plays to the other team by putting him out there. I say they should've fired the whole damn coaching staff.

+jcdfbdus doubt

Almost every receiver he faces in this video is a future hall of famer. Aside from Plaxico. Fuck outta here
That what I was thinking
The title is cynical, but I can see his mistakes.
1.) He's watching a QB for about 2 seconds or more, while covering Ochocinco, T.O. and Plaxico. That's an elementary mistake. Instead of looking at his own WR, he's covering and maybe looking for a split second at the QB, he stops and looks at the QB too long.

Revis shut them all down
That's revis tho
***** Revis is a freak of nature though, one of the best to ever do it and probably one of the best of all time.
Lol tru
Plaxico tore him up
y was he on the saints for so long if he sucks
He wasn't always bad it was just he was old the season they made all these clips
I'd rather be the worst corner than an internet troll in moms basement
that first smith catch.....fucking deion sanders couldnt cover a catch like that.
Dude being a cornerback is confusing as fk....
+ii HD R3MiXx not if u were richard sherman
+Tajdar Siddiqui Sherman is ass
+Tajdar Siddiqui that is true
+ii HD R3MiXx You just need to focus on where the ball is going and block the reciver.u also need to concentrate and run fast
Not exactly I play CB in high school it's not really that difficult yeah it takes time to learn zone
he may get beat often, but look what he's wearing. he has an NFL uniform, anyone with that from starter to back up deserves respect. cuz anyone talking shit to the dude isn't in the league and he is 👍 props to him he's trying his best...hopefully
Most of these are against TO, ochocinco, etc. so he would get torched on every play
lol this dude played for eleven years and had great stats in 2002 he got way better this is when he was new to the NFL
In his prime Freddie was a great corner for the saints. Age obviously caught up to him his last two seasons. Still a great db in saints history
lol he would play for the aints
Junior Galette that's you?
did I mean saints or did u mean aints as in rejects of the NFL
DeuCe TaLL what
+Liam Luvai are you still whipping females in the face with belts, junior ?
No
I like how every one of these clips has a GREAT WR when they was in their prime.
Smith, Ocho, T.O., Plaxico,
Super hard to gauge his play.
2:16...killin me ROTFL. Happens to all D Backs at times, but still some funny stuff
It was his awareness, press, and play recognition
There were some blown zones by the safeties and also most of the receivers were T.O., Chad Johnson and Stevie Smith...
0:52 any cornerback that watches the QB like that is garbage
+DailYxDosE like u could do any better
Dylan Gage lmfao im a LB and i bet i could
+DailYxDosE linebackers, my bigger but slower friends
that's how they are trained how do u think CB's stop a lot of runs BTW he was watching the ball like you're suppose to
+Blazing2Glory1 no it isnt, if he were playing a zone he played right but it was man an you dont stare at a qb without having a clue as to where your man is.
Looks like the worst safety ever! If he is in man coverage where us his help over the top?
This guy lasted in the NFL for 11 years, that fact alone warrants respect. No way he is the worst cornerback ever.
He had 13 interceptions with the Saints.
*eli apple has entered the chat*
This cracks me up taking the time to make a lowlight video of a CB, and yes he did have some lol biffs on defense. I can imagine whoever made this video was fueled by years of yelling at the guy on TV
If he's the worst cornerback ever, why would he be put to defend Steve Smith Sr., Ochocinco, Desean Jackson, and Plaxico Burress?
I am corner back and I would agree with ForgotEnglish in saying "is the hardest position," in defense to play. I am good at what I do. Best in the leagues I play at. But It'd be a lie to say in the 4 years(2 years in school and 2 out of school) that I didn't get bad beats a lot. Some receivers are just fast, tall, and/or your foot work is just shy of perfect. Though I wished I had a video of all my bad beats... then a video of all my picks. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."
This was made 3 days after I was born
There needs to be an updated version of this video with James Bradberry
Not with the "fallen down playin" 😂😂
he was old. He got drafted in 1996 and played until 2007. that is a long time of wear and tear on a body.
Also gives him a large margin of mistakes. No one is perfect especially over a long career like his.
He had like 14 picks his whole career… Thats AWFUL.
Most these highlights was in 2006. He was 33 and that was his last season. He had lost a step. He was a good cornerback but was past his prime in 2006.
This was ahead of its time 😂
That joey galloway touchdown in tampa was just horrible. He blew right past him.
In 2002, he had 5 picks and followed that up with 4 ints in 2003
Prove to me why he is the WORST against NON ALL STAR RECEIVERS!
I remember Fred Thomas this year he was terrible. up there with Fred Smoot in 05
He made the NFL. Thats something to always be proud about. He's made millions while the rest of us didn't.
Reminds me of that dude on the cowboys that Odell always toasting
This guy was able to keep his job long enough to cover T.O. from San Francisco to Dallas. That's impressive!!!!!
So he couldn’t cover chad ochocinco and Steve Smith? I don’t blame him
Everyone was stealing my name annoying it’s that he didn’t try
Even though he's bad he still made it to the pros.
Playing cornerback in madden is the worst, from the camera angle to trying to tail the receiver..
You dont wanna win? Put Fred Thomas in!!
In the guys defense, he's covering like 6 different future hall of fame wide receivers in this video.
Somehow he's the best corner on their team cuz he's playing Andre Johnson and Steve Smith
