My favorite part about most of these plays is that once the big men have the ball, every single one of their teammates are giving their absolute all to make sure they get as many yards as they can
Absolutely! Was just gonna say the same thing. It always seems like everyone else just gets so excited when they realize a lineman has the ball. They know this is likely the only time he’s ever gonna do this and they all find another gear trying to get him to the house 😂 It rarely happens though, partly because the big guys just don’t have the speed or stamina, but also because the other team has the opposite reaction-they do NOT want to be on the bad end of one of these “big man with the ball” highlights so they work their asses off to shut it down.
@@djp928I agree, but I think it has to do with speed. The lineman are slow that EVERYONE catches up to him. Essentially everyone on the defense his quicker than him so it's pretty easy for those guys to catch up and jump out for a block

Still blows my mind watching Larry Allen chase down that linebacker who intercepted Aikman. I know he had the angle but that stride was insane from such a bulky lineman.
For those of us who were in the Superdome for this [Fall 1994] game (just 3 rows from the top from the far end zone of this play unwinding), regardless of who was pulling/cheering for in respects to their team, we ALL were amazed watching Larry Allen drop down & kick-in the over drive sprint to run down that defender & (unfortunately) prevent the Pick 6! Oh my, Big Man Hauling! Javon Kearse was known as “The Freak”, as I would like to submit that Larry Allen be known as the “Runaway Freight”, as he easily is one of the top 2 fastest Offensive Line Guards to play the position, EVER!
The way the announcers collectively say “Larry ALLEN!” always gets me 😅 Larry Allen was such a phenomenal player! All these plays are really great, but the Larry Allen play will always be my favorite of these!
I love watching the teammates of the big guy with the ball. All those quick DBs and LBs instantly want to protect that lineman more than the secret service protects the president. They know something special is going down and they'll be damned if they let an offensive player make a tackle.
Larry Allen! Probably the best part of the highlights for me. He really hustled on that play. That chase down ranks up there with Ben Watson's chase down of Champ Bailey, IMO.
I love that you got Penei’s first down for the Lions in here. It’s an innocuous play, but it sealed the deal for the Lions win that day, and it occurred during their hot streak that got them to the doorstep of the playoffs in a season where nobody expected them to even compete!
As someone who was once the "big man" on my team as a kid, there is something so satisfying about seeing these huge guys run with the ball. You can even see opponents bouncing off them or dodging out of the way. Freight train touchdowns are the best!
It’s probably the some of most fun moments in football when it happens! Not a big man myself but I love when these dudes get a chance to show how athletic they are
These big fellas or line players, don't get paid as much or as much shine as the star positions but when they get their opportunity to shine and deliver, they always all effort. They never know when and if they will ever get another fumble or INT to score again, so these moments are all or nothing to them. It puts a smile on my face.
I got to meet Refrigerator Perry in a Walmart in Reno NV in 1997. He was set up at a little table signing black and white pics of his TD at SBXX. My wife told me to go say hello while she shopped. I approached the table and shook his hand. He talked to me for almost 45 minutes. During that time, no one else stopped by. When my wife was done paying, she stopped by to see how much his signed pics were. He said $15, but because I was the only person to stop and say hello in the past hour, he signed one and just gave it to me. I tried paying, but he said he appreciated me just letting him talk about his NFL days. I still have that picture.
I remember 0:35 couldn't score because he wasn't eligible but it was such an awesome moment that you could tell everybody on the field wished they could give it to him anyway. 😂
@@Jgcbjhff Just the because the throw isn’t meant for you doesn’t mean you can touch it. In order for a lineman to catch a ball, he must either report as eligible to the ref, or have the ball deflect off another player prior to him catching it.
