the 15 came up the valley especially far only on Sundays, and thus often my folks would have us take that instead of the mostly overground subway back home 🍸
Sad, Mortlake Garage GONE. I heard about a late duty OPO Driver being stuck in the toilet at the new stand until an early Driver heard his cries for help, (before mobile phones). Can't conform this but was told a former London United Manager.
hmmm our school coach crossed Mortlake each way to & from Shene, I've no idea where this must be, plus I can't say I remember ever encountering any of that there valley's loads of bus loops either
@@markcf83 aha! thanks...we often walked the towpath riverside past that adjacent park there to Barnes Bridge(?) with its Syon Park loop line over the Thames...rode them trains somewhat often, and I remember those bleek alleyways either side of the line inward from the Mortlake stop beyond its gated crossing
Beautiful dotrage if london in the summer My mither worked on the 9 in the suxties and lived in digby nansions beside Gamnersmith bridge, doubt she could afford it on the clippies wages now .
Ladbroke Grove in West London is where the fatal train accident happened on the 5th October 1999. Where 31 people died and 417 people injured as 2 trains collided into each other and it was the worst ever rail accident in history.
I don't think we needed to be reminded of that. You could say, equally relevantly, that Ladbroke Grove was the title of a 2019 song by rap artist AJ Tracey
Excellent video once again Mr B 👍👍👍
love to see RMs ambling down a residential road
Great place to work on your car, narrow road with lots of passing buses...
Especially replacing a panel oh the driver's side.
At least he was fairly hi vis!
The houses nearest the stand itself are built on the site of Mortlake garage as is the stand.

Fab, well done 😊

Bottom of Avondale Road. Practically next to the Waterloo to Reading and Windsor line.

Look up on UA-cam "The 9 Road"... an LT made film about route 9 with nice shots of Mortlake Garage....
Some of the non-refurbished RMLs were showing their age a bit by then

Dude in the yellow shirt working on his car there with Routemasters going by with about an inch to spare

Not that it's a competition, but I think Quintinshill was worse. And indeed Balvano, and a number of others.
