I don’t have a positive impression of the game after playing for about 25 hours. The game has a myriad of problems but none more egregious than the combat. While one on one fights can be fun, as soon as there is more than one enemy involved, is just devolves into nonsense. Most people have a negative review of the game because this is the aspect of the game we all came to expect being the best thing these developers do. On top of that the world is essentially full of Ubisoft markers and really isn’t open at all. The game reeks of a project that grew out of proportion to the amount of resources available to each team. It obviously lead to many of the systems being underdeveloped, obtuse, and essentially useless. You can’t tell me that pulling off a “combo” in this game feels anywhere near as good as pulling off a combo in Nioh 2, not to mention how awesome the parry mechanic was then and what we get now

This game is genuinely underrated. Just finished it on Twilight difficulty a few minutes ago, I feel like you're going to love it. The more you play, the better it gets. It's kind of unfortunate but Rise of the Ronin is at its worst right when it begins, since you don't have all your mechanics yet, and the fast-paced, smooth and fluid rhythm of play isn't _quite_ available. Stick with it though and this is a game that is _really_ replayable, has some proper tough challenges to overcome, and a lot of really nice quality-of-life features. It's not "innovative" or anything, but what it brings to the table is a very _good_ and comfy version of something that already exists with Team Ninja combat fundamentals that glue everything together.

I like their take on the "open-world" genre and I love all the extra bits they added, even the more silly ones. It's a surprisingly fun/addictive game in some ways, and the combat is fun so that's honestly all I really wanted out of it to begin with. This is a good game imho, all things considered.
About halfway through this game I considered it an underrated gem, now that I'm almost finished it's a certified cult classic, second best open world game after Elden Ring and one of the coolest combat systems I've ever played, right up there with Sekiro, Nioh 2 and MHW.

@@CalDale-i6z what it is is a combat system that relies entirely on enemy hyper armor, while the player has next to none. Sekiro is a tough act to live up to, but this does have a similarly great combat system, the open world is basic (if you've played Ghost of Tsushima, like that, but nothing as bad as haikus), and the graphics aren't great (they aren't bad either though...but I really loved my time with it.
The gameplay feels awesome for sure, but correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this was made by the creators Nioh and Wo Long? If so it for sure feels llke a graphical downgrade, am I tripping?
The combat seems interesting, I'm still not sure about getting the game or not since I don't really care for open worlds and the lack of supernatural elements in the game makes me think there will be a lack of enemy variety later on
Yeah, they're pretty bad at enemy variety when they do have supernatural elements, so I can see it being a problem. The bad reviews are probably just people that wanted nioh 3
I thought Ronin was really fun and I think they enemy variety wasn't a problem because there were so many different fighting styles that humans had at their disposal for each weapon . So even if they looked similar they fought differently.
@@Bstrdmn I thought Nioh 2 had pretty good enemy variety personally but I agree with you on the bad reviews though. A lot of people seemed to just want Nioh 3.
@@PeopleRTheProblem If you're talking about my point about the bad reviews then of course that's true although there are some games where I can see the flaws that are being pointed out regardless if it bothers me or not. Some of the Ronin reviews were just not great imo and some of the information was just wrong. If you're referring to my point on enemy variety then I'd disagree with that because I was also a huge fan of Nioh 1 but really wished there was more enemy variety in that game. I think Nioh 2 did a great job of introducing new enemies. There were new enemies being introduced after multiple New game plus cycles which is more then I could say for Nioh 1
Personally I'm more into Nioh 2. The yokai and magic is just too sick. While this does seem cool in its own way, it just feels empty to me after having played so much Nioh. I keep expecting something to transform into a monster.
Mediocre reviews because of graphical fidelity and because the combat isn’t quite as good as Nioh 2(one of the best combat systems of the decade). Everything else went up. So, yeah, it’s pretty good.
There are so many sheep in the current gaming environment, that they actively deny themselves of a possibly fun experience just because of some shitty review or Reddit post.

Love team ninja can’t wait to get this game
Rise Of The MythyMoo
Damn, another vid today
#stillwaitingfornikerealgodreveal
Why did they have you have 2 characters, if the other one just stands and watches, and makes one attack an hour?
Because your supposed to switch between characters for hefty combos
It still looks bad, you're supposed to be the amazing duo, but only one fights@@rickymorritt7283
myth just fuckin loves every game he plays lol
more of this more of this!
huge slept on game been playing it nonstop the story is so interesting the reviews are misleading
Matthew Perry Reference?
He's actually a real historical figure from the era of the game, just happened to share the name of said Friends star.
I have nearly 50 hours in it. I think its fun as hell.
When does it get fun as hell? Only
Have about 2 hours in so far but I’m not having any fun.
I hope this comes out on PC lol
reminder that land shark sobek is a thing
When I saw the character creation, it became a buy for me.
I love Rising my Ronin
I like Team NINJA, their best work is the glaive in Lies of P.
Team Ninja did not develop lies of p
@@cartoonvideos5 That's the joke
so much cynicism for games recently.. people just hating without even playing the games they're hating on
Just finished sekiro, does this game as good or even better then sekiro?
Sekiro is a tough act to live up to, but this does have a similarly great combat system, the open world is basic (if you've played Ghost of Tsushima, like that, but nothing as bad as haikus), and the graphics aren't great (they aren't bad either though...but I really loved my time with it.
Gonna wait until GOTY edition drop which probably gonna be when the pc port drops too
The gameplay feels awesome for sure, but correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this was made by the creators Nioh and Wo Long? If so it for sure feels llke a graphical downgrade, am I tripping?
Best combat since Sekiro loving this game
Not better than Nioh.
@@ZeroHayabusaof course you do. Fans always think this about the game they’re a fan of.
I hope you enjoy ror
nice one
Waiting on ghost of tsushima 2 i NEEEEEDD ITTYTTT😂
best youtuber
This game would be better with no stamina system
Name one game that allows you to use over 20 different fighting styles. Reviewers are full of shit
Day 10 of asking mythymoo to finish nioh 1
Personally I'm more into Nioh 2.
The yokai and magic is just too sick.
While this does seem cool in its own way, it just feels empty to me after having played so much Nioh. I keep expecting something to transform into a monster.
Day 1079 of asking Myth to finish Hellblade
Day 2 of asking Mythymoo to oil up (I will never stop till the day I die) p.s damn the combat look clean might give it a spin is it ps5 only
It gets much better the longer you play 100%. I’m enjoying it a lot now.
I hate this model. Why do I have to wait hours for a game to get good?
@@PeopleRTheProblem I agree with you
lethal company got update and it old bird lol update 50v
Mediocre reviews because of graphical fidelity and because the combat isn’t quite as good as Nioh 2(one of the best combat systems of the decade). Everything else went up. So, yeah, it’s pretty good.
There are so many sheep in the current gaming environment, that they actively deny themselves of a possibly fun experience just because of some shitty review or Reddit post.
Not sure what the hate is about
I think it’s awesome so far
People just like to bitch and complain as usual
55 second gang
letsss gooooo
I somehow got unsubbed after the update video so i missed a ton of video smh
womp womp
A few people say it’s amazing and a few say they dropped the ball. These reviews are annoying as f***
So you have a ps5? I challenge you to play smite on ps5 😂
Most people I've seen badmouthing this game are honestly just shit about it and cant understand the fighting mechanic, its good finally seeing someone eho actually knows how to play games play this
Most people I see saying this same thing are just fanboys made their game is getting bad mouthed
@@PeopleRTheProblem well I've never played nioh nor do I intend to play rise of the ronin so maybe you're just saying random stuff? I legit was watching two other UA-camrs play this and they keep comparing it to ghost of Tsushima but worst, with the main complain being the combat is scuffed. I can't explain it to u but it's easy to see who badmouths the game based on their inability to parry or just understand how the stamina works
@@ragnarmeh8156 that’s a lot of really bad double talk. You’ve not played any of these games but your calibrated eye can detect bad gamplay? You don’t know what the gameplay is but you know what the bad version of the gameplay is? So you can point out bad gameplay but can’t describe the gameplay that is bad? You as full of it as the reviewers you talk about.
