I love how much your created character looked just like you! Lol I think this game is being a bit overlooked right now so I’m happy to see that you shed some light on it .
What I appreciate about you, Ircha, is that you aren't as hard on some games as some other reviewers. Like, you give games a tough time if they deserve it and you are honest if they bore you or whatever, but you are the first one I have heard talk positive about this game despite its shortcomings, whereas others call it a poor mans Tsushima. Like, we need more reviewers like you who don't slam games the moment they are not 10/10s. People who see the gold and the fun in games that aren't masterpieces but are still fun and have some qualities to them.
Very well said - I couldn’t agree more! It’s refreshing, more interesting, and much more helpful to have Ircha’s balanced reviews. It’s hard to trust reviewers who only criticize, especially the technical aspects. It’s like they’ve forgotten that games are supposed to fun.
She is more of the avg person who doesn't let online narratives decide for her. Let's be real, most of the ppl that hated on Forespoken never touched it or intended to touch it. There are games some reviewers trash just to please their audiences.
@@ataridc Exactly. Forspoken got critiqued for a handful of things, some things more deserved than others, but what the media clearly hinged most on was to keep mocking this ONE scene and mock the "awful" dialogue, as if that alone made the entire game horrible. Then along came Ircha with her level-headedness and said "cool down people, aside from the banter it ain't a bad game at all". So yeah, sometimes it ain't about whether a game is actually good or bad. Sometimes it's just a matter of some games becoming the "punching bag of the week" for a variety of reasons.

Congrats on 100k subs Ircha. You totally deserve it. I haven’t watched in a while…but I’m back…I still say “gameplayyy” the way you do…giving it the importance it deserves.
Excellent and extremely accurate review of this game! You’re pointing out things that the big gaming sites have missed completely. I’m also really enjoying this game and for the same reasons you mention. Love your channel!
Thank you ! I wanted to buy this game then saw all the bad reviews now so was going do wait for a bit but now I wish I preordered haha. I’ll grab a copy today.

I’m so glad you liked it, Ircha! This game is what tipped me over the edge on getting a PS5. So I got one yesterday and I plan to get Rise of the Ronin as soon as possible!
omg I was waiting for this review!, haven't been able to play it because I am still 125 hours in FFVII Rebirth and don't want it to finish heheeh but I will definetly give it a go soon, thanks for the video
Great review - thank you! I love the idea of exploring that time period and the old city, Your review covers so many points that are important to me, that I can tell it will be fun. I’m not great at combat, but with a stealth mode and easy setting I think I can manage it. 🙏🏼👌
The weird thing about the graphics overall is that I found performance option graphics look better than most other game's performance modes that take massive graphic hits, yet it's their quality mode that doesn't look up to par for a 2024 game. But then, with a game like this, who wouldn't want it in performance mode? And it runs a whole lot better than Dragon's Dogma on PS5, to pit it against another open world in the same time of release. Anyway, solid review. Only just discovered you. Subscribed. You came across fair and honest in your take.
I’m glad I keep seeing more and more people actually liking this game. I enjoy it a lot and somebody’s own enjoyment is always the most important. I’ve enjoyed games before which weren’t really well received by the critics but the amount of hate I have seen for Rise of the Ronin the first few days after release was insane and I just don’t understand where it was coming from. It reminds me of Days Gone actually, poorly received by the critics but enjoyed by a growing fan base over the years. Good to hear you liked Rise of the Ronin too!
Thanks for highlighting this game, I have been on the fence about it as I haven't seen much about it online. I also wasn't a fan of the studio's last game Wo Long. However this review gives me confidence to pick it up once I have some time to play through it.
What a nice, informative and overall well presented review! One can feel the joy and fun you have with the game, something that is severely lacking in so many other reviews, regardless of what game. And isn't this the reason we play games? To have fun? Not to nitpick every single detail or shortcoming? I feel many people have forgotten what it means to have fun.... thank you for this video, it was a joy to watch and I will definitely get this game! ❣
Sorry for a comment that's not much to do with the current video, but I'm playing Skyrim on switch because kf you and I wanted to say thanks for inspiring me to give it a go! I'm just after finishing the main quest line, and I'm almost finished the Thieves Guild. I'm absolutely addicted to Skyrim now! Such a game!
I like the gameplay. Using the glider. Leveling up my Stealth attacks. Got to get that counterspark down. Playing on Normal. Don't really play Souls Like games.
Loving your accent. Plus you're easy on the eyes so that's a plus. From what I'm seeing everyone or at least the majority are enjoying the game. It's proving to be excellent. I love the combat also and especially the stealth. It feels so good assassinating enemies. About the enemies being dumb. You would change your mind on that with harder difficulty mode. BTW, ain't no shame playing on Easy mode. I'm currently playing on that too until later and enjoying it more.
People comparing this to ghost of Tsushima are completely missing the point. The game has amazing combat, it destroys ghost of Tsushima in that aspect. The enemy variety for having basically only humans is staggering. All the unique move sets you unlock, the crazy tech that is being discovered, the cancels you can pull off mid combat to keep your combos going. It’s in a completely different realm of existence than ghost of Tsushima if we are talking about the raw combat. However, rotr is not even close to the visuals of ghost of Tsushima, but it doesn’t have to be, it gives you an excuse to keep engaging with its systems, and that’s enough. those systems are more than capable of carrying the game. And the real best part is, all of the cats. Wish they would replace the Kodamas with kittens in the nioh games too.
Thank you, someone who actually knows what the score is, the combat between the 2 games isn't even a contest because RotR blows it completely away, it massively lacks in visuals compared to GoT but when have team ninja ever gone out for immense visual quality anyway? Both games are amazing, but RotR wins because of the combat and the sheer variety in it
Actually the AI being dumb as a rock sounds like just the game for me. Something that annoys me to NO end in most games, is when an enemy chases you to the ends of the Earth. I know that logically they'd want me dead at all costs instead of just losing interest, but from a "game logic" perspective, if I run away it is because I don't wanna deal with their asses, and at that point it's just annoying as fuck if they chase me until I've killed them.
The issue that people have with the facial animations isn't a "Rise of the Ronin" issue, it's more of a cultural thing that existed in Japan and in some parts of Japan still exists. By this I mean that culturally, this has stopped with gen x and younger Japanese people, but culturally it was considered rude to show a lot of emotion on their faces. If you notice when playing the game and don't skip cutscenes, there's plenty of people who show animated expressions and things. The inventor guy is probably one of the most animated characters in the game, he's quite expressive for that time period. I'm not saying that Team Ninja didn't use this cultural norm of that time period to their advantage to do less animation, I'm just saying it could be a possible reason. At least that's the head cannon I'm rolling with, lmao.
Graphics are the least important part of any game, I always prioritize frame rate. Performance & whether or not there's any glitches are far more important than how pretty the game is.
Is this game for someone who dislikes soulslike games? I only played elden ring and already struggled 😂 but i actually love Tsushima style games, but im afraid the combat gon be too hard? Any advice appreciated ty
It isn't like Soul at all. At least, if you don't start on Twilight difficulty, which I don't recommend on the 1st play-through. Play on Easy to let your brain & hands the time to coordinate with the controls. The combat system is deep and you have to manage primary & secondary weapons as well as potions, medicines, debilitating effects (fire, poison, electricity) while fighting at the same time. Once you get the controls down, it gets more and more satisfying to fight. It's like Tekken or Mortal Kombat in an open world. The rabble is easy to beat, but some bosses have crazy moves and are crazy fast too, so mastering the controls is key.
@@tresicario984 Yeah, I reckon Team Ninja has a record of supporting their game. There was already a small update 2 days ago and I suppose they will upgrade it further. Some reviewers love to pile on the graphics, but although it isn't at the Ghost of Tsushima's level, if you like Japan, it does feel immersive, because of all the little details, down to the sushi stands on the streets. The team of Artists really put in the time and it's worth stopping to look. What I like too, is that it's loosely based in the real History of the Japanese revolution/civil war and a lot of protagonists are real historical persons, so it prompted me to google some Japan History to get more into the immersion. I generally don't like Mangas, but I'm playing this as Samourai X/Rurouni Kenshin and rocking the red hair and Katana like nobody's business. Lolll!
The combat is intricate, but this is way easier than souls games, you have plenty of healing, and regular refills between battles. It also has an easy mode if you really want some freedom.
The AI issue you mentioned could be down to it being set to easy mode? Nonetheless, you've convived to get this game will have to wait for my next payday tho
Yo I just brought this game today an I’m telling u I can’t wait to leave work to play this an I hear some ppl say the story is good or that it’s decent or ain’t all that but ima see for myself
Hi Ircha, I agree with your review. The game is not perfect but I'm enjoying it and there are several good and funny details, customization and the combat system overall. 😊
Currently playing Ghosts of Tsushima. This game is on deck. Thanks for the great review. You can't have an open world without a bit of repetition but gamers will always complain about it. It's cool you can design your own character, yours looks like you!. Great to see other lady gamers out there doing reviews!
I love this game. Graphics are not bad at all. Fighting style is amazing! My character looks awesome! I have gotten dragons dogma and didn't even play it yet. It's a flawed game but it's so good I cant explain it. Alot of people are trashing this game. You should play it for yourself cause you shouldn't miss it. Also... lots of cats in the game. Ninja cats!
I appreciate the honesty in your review. I have this game in my 'possible purchase' list and have been seeking out a non biased opinion on the game without comparisons to Tsuhima. So, listening to you and watching the clip gameplay, I will most probably purchase it. You have to try new things in all areas of life, right? $109 is a bit of a steep price, though. Seems cost of living is even hitting the gaming sector. I enjoyed your video.
This game was awesome I felt myself not getting as pulled into it emotionally as I would have liked but it’s good enough to where I finished it which is saying a lot because I buy so many came and just finish them.
Good honest review I couldn’t believe the negativity around this game upon realise personally I think it’s something to do with team ninja adding a difficulty setting feature in this game which I’m in favour of I played Nioh and it was a bit too hard for my liking so when I heard team ninja was making a new game with a difficulty setting I immediately purchased the game and I’m having a blast finally somebody had listened if from software studios doesn’t want to add a difficulty setting in their games out of pure stubbornness than too bad for them team ninja will get my money instead I also tried sekiro loved it but got stuck at Genichiro so I had to put it down I really wish sekiro will get a difficulty setting but I’m sure that’s wishful thinking but who knows hopefully the success of this game will pave the wave for more souls like game that includes everyone not just the people who go around saying get good… I also have to ask you did you choose pro or anti shogun I also have to say you’re hair is so lovey and long beautiful colour btw.
Omg. Cats. And If you like it I love it. Buying right now 🐱 I was actually worried there wouldn’t be enough stealth, so I’m really glad to hear it plays kind of like an AC game.
You said you are playing on easy. I don't think you can fault the A. I. , unless you are playing on the harder or hardest difficulty. Thank you and keep up the good work.
Im playing on Normal and tried shooting an enemy. Two of them were standing right next to each other so the other guy definitely heard the shot. However, what Ircha is still holds because the one alive didnt immediately go to Alert Mode but the shot does add a lot to the Alert Meter. If you are on a rooftop or places they cant reach you, the enemies will forget about you super fast. Enemies marked as Leaders will react differently though. I used a bow to snipe a Leader next to a Leader and one of them immediately went to Attack Mode.
I’ve only got a few issues with the game. 1) no new game plus 2) enemies seem to completely ignore your attacks half the time 3) the story seems to give artificial decisions.
Great video, been thinking about picking this up. You may have convinced me. Nice to hear the similarities with AC. Are you looking forward to Assassin's Creed Shadows?
Game is not bad. Worth playng. However 70 dollars ?? No. Combat is solid and that's what it carries the game. Rest is mid or average. Id suggest for evryone out there that wanna listen don't buy it full price. Wait for a discount and have fun.
They combined the combat styles of Sekiro and Nioh, and then built it into the historical aesthetic of Ghost of Tsushima… WHOA. If only i had a PS5 😫😭 Edit: just realizing that Nioh and this game were both made by Team Ninja, so that checks out
Sekiro won game of the year for a reason, Rise of the Ronin was never going to even touch the masterpiece that is Sekiro. Be just having good fun, I’m not trying to be a dick. 😅
I don’t think I’ve ever played Koei Tecmo but they seem to do well with you. I think there is an old tecmo American football game on Nintendo switch online’s NES. I think fire emblem three houses has something to do with them too. Maybe the other switch one as well. I’ve had it for years but never played it. I’m not sure I ever will. Maybe.
Fire & Ice is the best one I’ve played though they’ve had something to do with a version of persona 3 yeah radiant historia also has many human enemies it involves a war and desertification I guess if the mana runs out everything including people will turn to sand.
You know Japan chose to not have guns for hundreds of years but I think Matthew Perry led to them getting guns again not that weird guy with the same name from the show FRIENDS who recently died but the guy from this game. Do u even remember it? You’ve got the hundred yard stare of one who has played millions of hours of games. I say this because in stellar blade guns and swords are both used which may have been the case at times I don’t know but I guess 🔫s are very illegal in Japan for the most part.

Its assassin's creed probably mixed with Nioh.

I'm only playing on hard, and enemies spot me all the time, but they still go back to their original positions if you run far enough away.

Try play on ray tracing mode with limit frame/motion blur/chromatic turn OFF, it hit around 45-58 fps.

So, listening to you and watching the clip gameplay, I will most probably purchase it. You have to try new things in all areas of life, right? $109 is a bit of a steep price, though. Seems cost of living is even hitting the gaming sector. I enjoyed your video.
One for the reviews on games I will always TRUST is Ircha💪🏻
Phenomenal game!! Listen to this lady because shes not lying
Created characters look cool & so does the game. Thanks for the honest review
This game was awesome I felt myself not getting as pulled into it emotionally as I would have liked but it’s good enough to where I finished it which is saying a lot because I buy so many came and just finish them.
Not sure I'd be playing this over Deagon's Dogma 2 even if Sony provided a code. 😂
This games awsome, dd2 is just dd1 with better graphics
Do you know if the enemy AI gets smarter when you're not playing on easy ?
Not smarter, but more responsive.
Glad you enjoying it
Been keeping an eye on this game . But how does it run on ps5? Just came across your channel aswell. Good review 👍
To be fair, AI is pretty dumb, you lose then by just hiding behind anything.
You said the AI was poor. Did you check if this was still the case on harder difficulties?
No I didn't! But good point! I'm not sure, sorry.
Looks like an intense game, the character customization looks great.
I've only just started playing ghost of tsushima ps5 so can't touch another samurai game 😅 bit late to the party
I like how you made your character look like you.
Great review !
Thanks! 😁
I have it in my collection I got it on day 1 but haven’t played it yet. Just finished unicorn overlord and that took me a while to beat
I’ve only got a few issues with the game. 1) no new game plus 2) enemies seem to completely ignore your attacks half the time 3) the story seems to give artificial decisions.
Pretty sure Far Cry started the glider in open world games
Great video, been thinking about picking this up. You may have convinced me. Nice to hear the similarities with AC. Are you looking forward to Assassin's Creed Shadows?
bro get the game, its fun asf
I love team ninjas games n i been wanting this game since its first reveal but this is the best review ive seen n
The best review you've seen of this? Thank you so much!!
@@ircha yea everybody else is so hard on it cuz the graphics
Missed opportunity to have Keanu as main character! Oh well maybe the next GOT
I'm also playing on easy😅 and really enjoying the game, combat and setting
i play on easy to as with my autism i find these games very very hard but love the review , hows weather in norway londons getting to 20c this wekend
Just bought it and I don't regret it I always trust your reviews 😊
Great to hear!
Game is not bad. Worth playng. However 70 dollars ?? No. Combat is solid and that's what it carries the game. Rest is mid or average. Id suggest for evryone out there that wanna listen don't buy it full price.
Wait for a discount and have fun.
I Like Your Lady Character. 😃👍.
They combined the combat styles of Sekiro and Nioh, and then built it into the historical aesthetic of Ghost of Tsushima… WHOA. If only i had a PS5 😫😭
Edit: just realizing that Nioh and this game were both made by Team Ninja, so that checks out
Yeah, the game does feel like an open world, Nioh, Sekiro, or Wolong. It's just a feel-good fun game.
Lmao nothing like sekiro.
Sekiro won game of the year for a reason, Rise of the Ronin was never going to even touch the masterpiece that is Sekiro. Be just having good fun, I’m not trying to be a dick. 😅
@@ronthorn3 What about Nioh
Assassins Creed makes me cry. But Cats brings me back!
The streets of the game look a bit dead and not bustling with people like Assassins Creed games.
