Happy Thanksgiving Chris 🦃 Great explore. It's great it's not totally abandoned because these are the saddest places to see abandoned. Thanks for the adventure 😄
I remember going there back in the early 2000's though the petting zoo is really all young me was interested in. There was a shack near the railroad tracks near the old Harold's Club and they gave out discount coupons for Great Basin Adventure. That's the only reason my family found out about it. I'm glad the place is being maintained.
There is something very sad about seeing these once lively places that brought so much joy to people, just close down. I feel like allot of good things from when i was a kid are going away.
i remember when i was little, me and my grandad used to go there all the time and i swear i remember there being a DC/justice league area with the old stuits and stuff.
I remember going on that log ride endlessly. It was my favorite! Now when I'm ever in town with my kids I take them to the small dino playground and follow the trail that leads to it.
You are *SO* right for this work, Chris! Fine voice and clear speech; appealing look and character; you talk to us, not just to the technology; caring yet matter-of-fact, you let the viewers feel their own reactions. Congrats from a 🇨🇦Canadian.
This is my favorite place to hike and hangout with my dog. They are having free concerts all the month of July. The garden hike is so beautiful. Its definitely still a fun place to go. They do the Ballon races there too.
I live in Reno and remember when my kids were young and I was a single parent I would take them there several times a year because the museum would change the exhibits and my kids would also have birthdays parties there..! My son had his 5th birthday party at Rancho San Rafael... And the kids got bracelets for the birthday party that got them on the rides and attractions..!
I worked on the flume ride at Carowinds. One day we got to work and our ride was turned off. Turns out there was a 5 foot long copperhead in the upper flume! We had to wait half a day to have it safely removed.
I certainly enjoy watching your videos! And definitely appreciate that you know how to respect the areas that go through. I am an amateur historian of alot of interests!!! And I can relate to you. Sometimes I catch myself talking to you out loud! "No, no, no! Turn the other way! Turn the other way! You missed something I wanted to see!!!!" Ha ha. Later!
Happy Thanksgiving Chris! Your videos help me wind down so much after all my hectic and crazy days. Your demeanor and calmness in these videos are great therapy. Thank you for being you. Have a great day and keep up the awesome content!
My kids grew up going to that park when they were little. The double diamond mine is a 2 story building that had these cool indoor tunnel slides. There were days I could never get my kids to leave that part of the park when they closed at park hours. My kids had too much fun and many great memories of that park.
I used to go there all the time when I was a kid, back when it was in its prime. I now take my son there regularly, and while he enjoys it, I'm always sad at what he missed out on.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I traveled with you thru the theme park. The fenced in cages, the learning center for children and everything else. Be careful climbing on those contraptions. Don't want you to fall.Stay safe. Thanks for the video.
I just pulled this deep out of my memories from when I was a kid. I think I went here when I was in Girl Scouts or during a Boys and Girls Club fieldtrip. I do remember the log flume being an extra cost, but its extremely fuzzy. I honestly thought I dreamt it up until I saw this
Hi. Watching from Toronto Canada April 2021. Really enjoyes the tour. Nice to see no graffiti or vandalism. Glad that it still has a use. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
If an amusement park has a water ride I'm so on it I love them their so relaxing..Young or old I still enjoy these type of places. I hope you had a Turkey dinner somewhere. Happy Thanksgiving.
Times have really changed. Thanks for putting in the old pictures of this place complete with sound effects. It makes it seem sad. I like to see how places have changed especially when they haven't been filled with trash and graffiti.
I’m sure a lot of people get bummed out watching abandoned theme parks that they once shared a lot of fun times with their families and friends. My childhood memory is “River Country” in Orlando Florida. I was there in 1984 and it was so much fun. Now it’s abandoned since about 2004, not sure. It was shut down do to water contamination. They used to use lake water and some kids were getting sick, so this marked the end of theme parks ability to use unfiltered lake water in public parks. There were also pools, water slides, tube rides that were filtered but the one big part was part of the lake. River Country was right near Disney World. It’s such a shame, that water park was so much fun. Cheers
Has anyone else noticed the trend with all these small-time theme parks closing within the early 2000's? Corporate America really started taking over back then, killing off all the local, ma-and-pa parks and now all we have is Disney and Six Flags. I miss parks like this and would much rather visit one instead of a larger theme park.
There's a guy who commented earlier on the sadness of it. I was in Korea and they have an amusement part that closed down because of some horrific accident. However, it has a huge community pool and giant slide that still attracts hordes during the really hot summer months. I keep wanting to say Dreamland but I think that was another place down near Suwon, a bit north of Osan. This was north east of Seoul near Suyu-ri. I always think about the intent and the children's laughter and screams of fear and joy, echoing still in some of the shadowed corners. It's hard for me to separate the now from the past, even when I see it. People loved these places that are now in decay. I'm nostalgic without it ever anchoring me and with no return.
gives me memories from a pretty local place when i was barely 10 years old, it had the typical dino theme and some small rides you could go on, mostly trains tho and nothing advanced you find in a large amusementpark. It was actually located on a real previous minesite, you could climb up the massive slag pile where they had placed some dinos and some benches. Now the property is barely fenced in and abanadoned. Next to it is the small minemuseum so id guess they own the property but just dont want random people on it. if you go in you can find some remains of the large plastic molded figures that where there once.
Wow. Guess that may be what would be left of Busch Gardens here in Tampa if life suddenly ceased to exist. The sound only in the consciousness of the earth.
I’ve always wanted to go to an abandoned park or building but some are dangerous and it’s hard to find some in my area 😭. I just saw the animals sitting in there I really hope people are taking care of them.
Happy Thanksgiving all. Though I think we should just call it "Get Together With Loved Ones and Feast Day" and just celebrate love for one another. I enjoy these kinds of videos of amusement parks that are gone now. They are bittersweet, almost sad, of times past when you think about all the laughter and life that was once there. I absolutely love your presentations. Especially since it seems I am walking with a friend and talking. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing it with everyone. ☮
I love places like this and honestly, too many amusement parks are closing down. Back when I was growing up in Holyoke, Mass there was a place called "Mountain Park amusement park" It wasn't huge but it was fun and now it's closed. It was a sad day when it closed. Hey, that's an idea for you. If you're ever in Holyoke, Mass look up this park and go see what's left and it's layout.....that would be neat to see.
I am a Reno native and I loved going through the log flume and the mine slide. Today the only thing the park has is the annual Great Reno Balloon Race and the Wilbur D. May Museum. It's a shame that now the park is a shell of its former self.
Thank you Happy Thanksgiving to you Chris I really like your videos you show some interesting things and I want to say I appreciate all the work you did to share this video look forward to many more
Another great video Chris, appreciate how you always do your research into history of a place. And show us snippets into their past and then to present day. Subscribed and liked and look forward to all your postings. Stay safe out there
Happy Thanksgiving, Chris and thanks for another interesting tour. It's kind of disheartening to see such an interesting place shut down so recently. God Bless and stay safe.
Happy Thanksgiving, Chris. I enjoyed this, but it is also kind of sad. Enjoyed the before footage. You always are great company and do a good job with your videos.
Well researched, love the now an then photos, it’s great to see how things where back then , and to how they are now. And not a bit of graffiti in sight for a change, just rubbish lying around.
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate!

Yes. Infantry school was in these huge Pine woods at Fort Benning and now it’s gone to concrete and boring. Fuck that.
Join the club man. I feel that way every day.
Feel the exact same way... "The world as we know it is passing away," and we one day along with it. God bless.
This place is so cool. I would love to explore an abandoned amusement park.
Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends. Thank you for this interesting post. Joanne NZ

Great find. This is the kind of stuff I look for when going out on trips and adventures. Super unique, interesting and it tells a story.

I like the added sound during photos
How many hippies were out there in 50s and 60s?

They should turn that place into an rv resort. It could be nice.
That’s a really good idea!

The public need places like this open more than casinos. What a beautiful place
I love the before and after pictures! Ah, the elusive log flume pee bottles.
It's good to see that people can still enjoy the area, even after it stopped being a theme park. So many places are lot to rot.
The voices of kids in background is eerily neat, I am guessing unintentional though.
Pretty sure it was intentional. And yes, I thought it was cool too.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I traveled with you thru the theme park. The fenced in cages, the learning center for children and everything else. Be careful climbing on those contraptions. Don't want you to fall.Stay safe. Thanks for the video.
I love seeing how things work...behind the scenes. Thank you for sharing the video! Water rides have always been a favorite of mine!
Cool ..thank you for sharing
Still looks pretty cool and it's a sort of thing that I want to visit in the future
The tunnel you mentioned is still there. I always wanted to see the water feature in operation. I walk that park weekly.
Looks like it was a good place to take your kids, glad they are taking care of it, partially anyway. I hope you had a nice Thanks giving.
I just pulled this deep out of my memories from when I was a kid. I think I went here when I was in Girl Scouts or during a Boys and Girls Club fieldtrip. I do remember the log flume being an extra cost, but its extremely fuzzy. I honestly thought I dreamt it up until I saw this
I actually like it better the way it is now. Thank you for a wonderful tour.
Who would use a pee bottle when you have the whole outside to piss?
Exactly. Theres a bathroom everywhere.
Ikr. Nature's one big toilet.
The best would be pissing off the top of that roller coaster. 👍

nothing sadder than a shut down amusement park! In Texas we still weep for Astroworld
Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for this video. Your videos are a nice escape from all that is going on!
What a total waste of money. It's sad to see such a beautiful park close and everything just left to rot. Thanks for the awesome video!
Love old tractors, classic history there friend.
I rode the log ride at Expo 67 Montreal I was 7.. I still remember it well..
Love your channel. Thank you for introducing me to Lamont at Large. Love both your channels. Happy Thanksgiving

Seems to be quite a few old abandoned parks . Hey maybe Disney is next . Enjoyed watching, interesting. 👍
If they keep up the woke crap, they will be next.

Chris , obviously, is NOT as fearful of heights as I am, lol.
Wish we had this many places to visit here in our country
It was really interesting to see how it used to be compared to now.
You are the best at researching where you go Really enjoyed this video seeing it 3 times
I don’t think I missed it, but why did this shut down? It’s so sad to see places like this that brought so much joy to children just shut down.
Want to have an idea of what it may look like 100 years from now you should visit Union Park in Dubuque Iowa.
Very cool, I bet it was amazing when it was open,
Nice job my friend
