- The air-to-air missile (AAMs) grew out of the unguided air-to-air rockets used during the First World War. It is a missile fired from an aircraft for the purpose of destroying another aircraft. AAMs are typically powered by one or more rocket motors, usually solid fueled but sometimes liquid fueled. Some AAMs have very long range but are quite slow whereas some AAMS are quite the opposite.
In this video, we present you guys the longest range and the fastest AAMS of 2019. Enjoy watching this video.

The Novator K-100 doesn't actually exist....its vaporware. The Russians have been peddling it for 25 years at every arms show (since the Paris air show in 1991). It has never been fired, developed. It is literally a plastic mockup.
The list is comedy gold. Meteors range is far beyond 150km....massively so.

Which means nothing, they could tell you its a Mach 10 missile and no one would know the difference. All these beyond visual range weapons which are carried by aircraft which are usually bound by restrictive ROE, many times a good visual ID is required. This is the reason why the F-14 carried its Tactical Camera System.

Meteor should head any list about AAMs due to its large no-escape zone, throttle-able engine and state of the art control surfaces (hence superior maneuverability)
The list is based on the size and speed of the missile not its maneuverability.

The Meteor missile is not an EU creation. It's a UK led cooperative effort. It's also by far the best missile here. All the other missiles here are continuous boost. Whereas the Meteor has a ramjet which it can simply reduce its output on. Thus it has a massive no escape area. The R37 by comparison is huge as well. 510kg compared to 190kg.

What is important in a A/A BVR fight is not only speed or range. It is endurance and maneuvrability and that is where the Meteor missile excels. The Meteor has the largest no escape zone of any missile. On top of that it does have a two way digutal datalink wgich means the missile can be programmed in flight or assign a new target. Other allied platforms besides launching plane can take control of the missile once it has beeen deployed like AWACS.

US doesn't use super heavy missiles anymore since they withdrew the AIM 54 Phoenix. The Vympel R33 & R37 are 1,100 lbs to 1,350 lbs vs say the AIM 120D = 335 lbs. The tradeoff for speed & range is massive weight.

The image you have posted for the R-33, the second one on your list, is an image of an Estes Model Rocket referred to as the 'Alpha'. Kit has been available since the late 1950's. Maybe someone who did this has a sense of humor.

There is alot missing but here is a general summary:
Speed:
Where is amraam?
Meteor, aam4, r77 are good
R27 is SARH guided on 2 variants, ir on another 2 and anti radiation for another 2 variants (targets radar centers and SAM systems)
Astra is kinda unreliable
Phoenix has 1 launch platform that isnt in service and it is best and splashing large craft and is unreliable against a fighter that actually tries to dodge.
R33 has 1 terminal homing variant and is mainly made to kill spy planes. That is why its main platform is the mig31
R37 is great but not much is known. Even the best data we have on it is not really reliable
Range:
R27 is old and was never upgraded although for its time, it was great
Meteor is possibly wrong
Amraam also possibly wrong
Phoenix has that range depending on launch alt. For people who dont understands:
Higher alt, less drag, can go faster and further. This missile also lofts to increase alt into less dense air automatically depending on target range.
Also the speed of which the launch platform is flying
Also the battery that powers the seeker would probably run out of power before it makes that distance dependant on scenario
R-77 makes sense. Also amraam would be closer to this
R33 is a doubt scenario but due to average launch alt, could be possible
R37 is a new gen missile that really isnt used by most of the russian air force due to compatibility but seems acurate
K-100 is probably right but as more fighters have better radars and dont need awacs, it will become uselss
And the other missiles that are 'awacs killers' really arent specialized in that. They just do better at that while the k100 is built for that

Thats true what you said, but meteor is not mean for AWACS killer either, its best in its class as best Air to air missile to kill another fellow aircraft. AWACS killer role requires a much bigger heavier & costlier missile & the end target is also less meneavourable, what works against it, is something which can travel quick & fast towards it at greater range & doesnt require a end speed burst.

In theory Meteor has the same lethality as similar missile being launched from much shorter range.
Its also possible to redirect the missile during flight or even guide it back on target it missed due to two way datalink.
Or you can have the initial guidance and lock be handled by third plane ... you can have stealth platform much closer and/or at different angle to the target while launch platform is further away/in opposite direction ... the launcher plane sets the missile out without a lock that will be provided later on by the different aircraft.
there are a lot of features this thing has that are unique to the design and make it absolute game changer.
