I wish we could've seen a tacview for this fight just for the sake of understanding where all the missiles ended up and how close they got. They were really useful for BVR fights to tell what was happening.
I think this is a situation where the TacView debrief would be helpful. Seeing how the Typhoon dodged the missiles and when it was able to shoot back at you would be sick.
I'd love to know how he defeated all your 260's. But then I'm sure you would too. Great fight, and thanks for showing that they don't always go your way.
The typhoon pilots are always so damn incompetent tho, they also dramatically underestimate how much it points its nose and they always underestimate the low speed acceleration of the Ej200 Also like 90 miles in a head on should be well within range for a meteor bearing in mind it can hit a subsonic target rear aspect from 100
Very prophetic, GS, very prophetic. "Never write off the Eurofighter" Well at least you got to walk home after the mach 4 spicy telephone pole "put a wrap" on your day... way better than eatin it, i guess
Fantastic video! This was almost as good as the video of the F-15C carrying the Meteor and firing them against the Flanker. It was good to see another video of the F-15C carrying a long range missile that goes well with it's radar, but the AIM-260 just looked like a long range high speed rocket; it flies fast, but at that speed, it can't manuever. That has to be the reason why the Eurofighter was able to dodge them and get in close with it's Meteors to down you. Still loved seeing how it played out!
@Bolter024 nah he barely flies eurofighter either, its always against eurofighter but never flying it himself, on the other hand Eurofighter vs Rafale dogfight could be good 👀👀
At the beginning, for a moment, I was thinking, "what's an F15 doing travelling faster than light speed?"😝😝😝 Jokes aside, i have a feeling the seeker heads of the aim260 aren't working too good here. They didn't seem to track too well. You would think that with all those missiles you fired, at least one of them would've scored a hit.
The Euro fighter was staying low taking advantage of the thicker snow atmosphere. And the timing of his up and down and defend were spot on. The Meteor is a wicked hound dog. Seeing that the 260 is so new, GS will find its strengths via tacview. He always does.
That was ace, really enjoyed watching this, thanks for doing it, such fun to see the new version of ny fav classic jet vs my new local favourite. Your cinematic shots were superb and it was so even until the lovely surprise ending! Never saw that happening, cheers! 😊
This is how a modern fight would really look / 2 very good aircraft and formidable missiles / euro fighter definitely is a beast and scary for a reason
I just love that DCS pays attention to detail, such as the micro-scratches in the canopies. That being said, the F-22 model is a great deal "flat" in the the design.
That incoming Meteor had me screaming before it struck you. Had I been drinking my juice at the time, I would've spit it all over the screen. And I agree with everyone else that a Tacview should've been included. Great fight, good job.
I think the Eurofighter used the storm to its advantage to make the 260s go slow enough for him to weave fast enough to avoid hit. Now that's using your environment in a fight
Was kinda refreshing to see you get properly beaten - doesn't happen often - and it was also good to see you split second think to pull up after the hit to give a better ejection vector.
The F-22, F/A-XX, and USAF NGAD are going to be wicked platforms with the AIM-260. I don't remember whose post it was on IG, but I guess one of the Italian Typhoon training and evaluation squadrons got their certification for the Meteors. The original idea for the Sparrow was supposed to have been based on the body of an unguided 5in rocket. They couldn't fit all of the necessities in the 5in rocket, so they made them 7in diameter instead.
I, too, would like to throw my hat in for a TacView Debrief after that fight, or for the next one if you're doing something similar. I hope you got to get in for a hot whisky beverage after that ejection in the cold! Super cool fighting in overcast skies!
You know what would be cool for these BVR fights? A 'minimap' overlay of the post-match map view(whatever it's called - I don't play DCS) so we can see what all these missiles and the enemy are doing.
Either the meteor is super awesome or the 260’s information is way misleading. A video with the f22 carrying the 260’s would be very impressive and even more indestructible with the range they carry (supposedly)
To be fair. The Meteor is super awesome. And obviously take this with a pinch of salt since the AIM-260 isn’t even out yet and the info on the Meteor is mostly classified
It's not pure range only. They have different technologies. The ramjet property of the Meteor makes it quite unique. It really makes its No Escape Zone bigger than traditional missiles with similar properties. But in the end both are classified so it's just fantasy.
I thought the same at first, until I realized the Typhoon was nose down and mid turn. Ballistic vs non ballistic paths plus camera slewing makes for some crazy apparent motion
