- Quick, easy, inexpensive resin molds from readily available cookie cutters! I got four nice-sized cookie cutters at my local Dollar Tree and wondered how they might perform as molds ... If they worked, I thought, they'd be just $0.25 each! Watch and see how to easily turn them into molds for ornaments, coaster, sun-catchers, and more!! Get tips for finishing off castings made in molds like these or others.
A tutorial on using alcohol inks in resin (like the star piece at the end) is coming up in a week or so! Stay tuned. 😊

Perfect Pearls mica powders: amzn.to/2xZSeyq and amzn.to/2xZM69u

100 of my favorite 30 ml medicine cups: amzn.to/2yYE92E
Ziplock bags are available in just about any size you need... For this small test, I used 1"x2" bags. Typical sizes are also 1.5x1.5", 2x2", 2x3", 3x5". If you need larger quantities, using a cup might be as easy or easier.
This was done using about about 25 ml of resin for the flower and 30 ml for the star.
Thank you in advance for watching the videos, sharing them, commenting and leaving a thumbs up. Your kindness helps my channel continue and it is all greatly appreciated! May the alcohol inks, resin, and paints be kind, and may the pours be with you. 😊💕
To avoid the uneven surface of the tape you could set the cookie cutters onto a silicone matt and seal the outside with hot glue.
Omg, thanks, great idea
That's a good idea. But would the resin curing cause the glue to melt?
I think it would probably work though.
They came out great ! I love your laugh, you sound like such a beautiful person :)
I know, it's contagious 💕
That is super neat! I always test other things in ways they weren't meant to be used. :) I learned I can use stainless steel cookie cutters as molds when I do glass fusing that way. :D One tip for keeping them from leaking is either super glue or silly putty around the cutter. Resin doesn't stick to silly putty and I use it sometimes for quick molds for resin. The silly putty also stays usable again. :D - Heidi
I’m liking the crazy glue idea because cyanoacrylate won’t stick permanently to polypropylene either! Thank you very much for that suggestion (and the silly putty)... very nice of you Heidi! 😊💕
When you use stainless cutter how yoi realise the resin piece? Don't it stuct with the cutter?
@@MyriamsNature has
Yes please to the alcohol inks in resin video! Wonderful instruction as usual😊
WOW! LOVE how you just get in there and play. Great example for creativity . . . and life! :-)
Absolutely LOVE this video. I liked the fact that you taught rather than just showed us how its done. Im just starting out with resin so I learned alot for this. Thank you for taking the time to do this. They turned out so beautiful.
Me a newbie here, and I am in love with your laugh. Thank you for this tutorial. Very good indeed. thank you, debs from Texas
Great idea! Love how you explain every detail! Thank you❣
Some people, like you, are natural teachers. You teach with ease, like a good conversation. I really appreciate your videos.
I love your teachings , can you show how you make the designs in the molds , the swirls with the alcohol inks or paints that you use. Thank you in advance. Your so talented do you have an art background?
I wonder if you could have hot glued it to a silicone mat, so you won't get lines.
Do you find Perfect Pearls different from mica powders?
I've not played with resin yet, this looks fun. Thanks for the tips!
Be forewarned, it is very addicting lol! Try UV Resin first...then get hooked. Happy creating. debs from Texas
YAY I found the time to watch your new videos and that is a fun idea. I would have never thought about using a cookie cutter to play with resin BUT who ever thought a colander could hit for a pouring :P * I know you giggle right now ;) * loved the video!!!
The kitchen... The new source for art supplies... Who knew? 😄 I'm glad you watched... It means a lot to me. I've got to catch up on comments on yours... I'm terribly behind! Big hugs! 😘💕 Can't wait to see what you do next! Your channel rocks!!
Myriam's Nature won’t be able to get a video up today so will do it tomorrow :))
You bring so much joy to me listening to your videos! Thanks!
I love these!! Yes please show how you did the other one! :D
I've been working with resin for a couple years now ... I NEVER would have thought of mixing the powders in a small ziplock bag like that!! I LOVE that idea~!
Thanks it's realy works. Plz share some more ideas for the same topic.
Your ideas are always just GENIUS!!! Thanks so much 💕
Just beautiful, well done Myriam!
I need to buy resin right now 😁
Regards from Germany ❤
Thank you, as always, for such an informative video. I really like how you incorporate some of the science of the materials in your narrative.
Thank you Barbara... I like understanding what I’m using 😀. I’m so happy it went over well 😊.
Omg! You are so funny I love how you crack up as you figure your way!!! New subscriber, I love to watch and hear you laugh the most!! Haha!🥰 This gave me an idea I loved this piece though! 😍 I just purchased two heart molds at Walmart at a $1, with the idea to make cabochan molds!!!
Really nice enjoyed watching that. It was very interesting. It's good to learn something new.
I’m so excited!!! I love Myriam I had watched you about 3 yrs ago. I couldn’t remember your name I blanked. I knew it started w/an M. Well today I found you! Whoot whoot! I will not loose you again!
💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
So…. Hello! Myriam hope I just spelled it right. Anyway, I love you attention to detail your experiments with anything you think may help you be more creative & so on! Anyway, I’m excited & super lucky to find you again. You a very talented & excellant teacher!😆😁😁😆
Thank you Myrian with Y! Love your intro. You do an incredible job with fluid art and resin. I live in Brazil, so can't find most molds I see in America, then I improvise to get my resin. I was afraid of getting the resin stuck to the plastic cutter, but you cleared my doubts. Thanks again.
Myriam with a Y,
I like what you do.
And you've got quite
a unique laugh.
I like that too!

Every video I've watched, you laugh and I laugh harder at your laugh!🤣🤣 ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU! 💜👏👏👏😂😂
Just watched this & really appreciate the chemistry of how this works. I finally have the answers to ‘why’ I do things this way. I love your mold ideas, can’t wait to try this! Thank you 😊
I saw a video where a lady used parchment paper which I think is really really good being as when you use a silicone mold if you turn your mold, upside down onto parchment paper, the rest of the resin that you couldn’t get out of it well form at the base of it, and stick to the parchment paper, which it easily comes back up in order to throw it away. When I do my mixing after I’m done mixing and doing whatever project I’m doing, I’ll turn those upside down so that all I have to do is clean them out when I use them again. She glued the cookie cutter to the parchment paper and then did her project. It’s beautiful what you made!
This video helped out so much! You remind me of how my grandma talked and laughed. So it made it so much more wholesome. Thank you for sharing your creative journey ❤️
I like it. Definitely want to see more options for resin mold that can be used instead of silicone
What a fun idea. I always pick up the silicone shaped molds when they r at the dollar store 😊
Oooh I’ll have to keep a lookout for those... Thank you Bonnie!
Looks great, you are very informative and you explain yourself very well, can't wait to watch more of your programs. i'd use them for xmas decorations, suncatchers, mobiles etc...
Love your videos. Your personality is awesome, I enjoy your commentary ! Thanks for all the great tips 🏵️
Glad I found your viddos. You are a terrific teacher/demonstrator. One of the other UA-cam's said "you have to go check out My flames Nature" so I did.so glad.
Yes, I would love to see the video of the star with the alcohol inks. I also like little things that I learn from you as you are talking such as letting the resin cure slightly before adding the glitter therefore it's stays suspended. I also love that technique with the little bag because you can create a tiny spout which is very helpful with different projects.
Hi Myriam ! I'm new to your channel and subscribed. This is a neat idea, I have recently started messing with resin and I just love the ideas and the possibilities you can do with it. Thanks for sharing !
Near idea. Did you know in the $ 🌲 if I. go to the toy section they have play doh with cutters. And they are almost identical to those ones. Only a little smaller. Thanks for sharing. Love your channel.
I ordered a Jamaica cookie mold and ruined it today. It is hard plastic, I hot glued it onto a plastic bottom and tried UV Resin in small layers just to make one cutout to make a mold from. The hot glue is fast stuck. I'm going to order another one, but this time make a polymer clay mold from it to make a mold from (I love your mold-making viceos).
This is a great idea instead of buying all silicone molds! Which can get pretty pricey! Ty!!!!!
This made me wonder is tupperware hamberger rounds would work. Do you know? It would possibly give a smooth bottom.
Wanted to say I wondered how to do it. But what I really loved was you did not tell me all kinds of info. like what u did today or anything Not relevant to what you are showing us do. I like some others too, but I will not watch for that reason. Kudo to u! I'm going to watch yours so much!
Really cool, dollar tree rocks. And so do you. In the kids section they have play doh cutters . Which I love . Smaller scale ut same idea. Found a really cute dragon 🐉 on clearance at Walmart. That star you painted is pretty. Thank u 4 sharing 💓.
just has a thought, would sticky-backed plastic work for the base? don't know what it's called in the US
I just use craft glue around my open projects, it peels right off and not sticky. Elmer's glue.
You can also try using transfer tape or regular tape. I tried this just recently and I got the same result when using tape with the tape leaving the marks on the back of my piece.
When I first started doing resin I repurposed all my cookie cutters. ;-)
Beautiful but so very much work, you’re amazing!
I bought the same cookie cutters and love the results. I put them on the surface of an old mold and tape up the edges OR put a heavy object on top to stop leaking.
Just wanted to let you know that some people have had success with using silly puddy around the outer edge of the mold so that it keeps leakage to a minimum if any.
More more more! You’re awesome!
If you watch jedrek29t, you will see that a hot glue gun is useful to seal the bottom around the tape.
Myriam, this idea is fabulous! They turned out beautiful.
I just love your videos. You have such a contagious laugh and show so many amazing and beautiful items.
Thanks for sharing!
😊💕 thank you so much Robbie!
thanks for inspiring idea & simplicity. yes please show painting of star 💜🌹
How about using a sheet of vinyl for a silhouette cutting machine??
I just found this episode but I was wondering if you could use contact paper instead of tape to avoid the lines?
Love your tutorial and you kinda make me giggle alot well looking forward to more loved the cookie moulds demo love Jan u.k.
Would shelf liner work at the bottom I’m wondering.
more mold ideas please...the cookie cutter idea is amazing!!!!
Thank you for all of your fun fabulous ideas and inspiration ‼️‼️‼️
Would parchment or no stick foil work as a base? Newbie here.
Would wax paper or parchment paper sealed with hot glue not work to seal the bottom?
You are a genius. Thank you for explaining every detail.
Also, Resin doesn't stick to silly putty! So putting tape down, then pressing silly putty to the sides and bottom outside can keep resin from running amok
Thank you so much for that tip... until today I had never heard that. I will be hitting up a toy department very soon. 😉😊💕
I was wondering what would you do with a big star or heart, a suncatcher or ornament is a cool idea!
I did what you said and it works and I like it better! The tape is brilliant!
I would like to see how you did the ink in the star. Iam new to resin and . Love everything you do.
Maybe I should try this my packing tape one leaked
I just got interested in resin, I tried using the white plastic cookie cutter as a mold but can't get it out now
Hi Myriam-with-a-Y, This looks like an awesome project for working with kids! If you put a straw or hollow stir stick in the mold it would be nice for Christmas ornaments that the kids could be proud of making. These would make nice hostess gifts as well.
Maybe, maybe not with kids. Resin is pretty toxic stuff; I really wouldn't want kids messing around with it because they are likely to be careless.
Good idea with the straw, though! You would have to make sure it stayed upright and didn't leak.
Love this video ,i been trying to fine away to use cookie cutters ,i love it thank you
Beautiful ❤ Thank you so much for sharing!
I'll try the clear plastic cookie cutter since silicone mold are limited here
Ohhhhh, sorry, the previous note is from Carla-with-a-C. ;+)
I think I am now going to pick up some Christmas cookie cutters :)
Never thought of using little baggies. Love that.
Those are so beautiful I can't wait to try it myself 🥰
Great Idea 😊👍. Looks very nice 🙏
maybe to do it upside down, where the blue silicon edge and not need to tape
What about the clear contact paper? Would that work like tape?
Love this! As I was watching, I was telling my husband that I could make ornaments with them! I love watching your videos, you would be fun to hang out with! Thanks for sharing and have a blessed weekend!
Oh thank you so much for that Erika! I wish you a blessed weekend as well... full of joy and creativity! 😊💕
HUGELY IMPRESSED, THANKS!
Love your creations and laugh ❤
You are amazing. Love going shopping you. .
Great idea and great video !!! Hi from Germany :-)
Love this! I have yet to even attempt this, but I plan to.
I was checking out homemade molds and your cookie cutter ideas is great for starters!!! Awesome!!!! Thank you, greetings from the island of Puerto Rico!!! Stay safe!!!
Puerto Rico!!!!!
PUT YOUR HAND DOWN PLS. ITS ANNOYING.
Instead of tape, can you use cheap contact paper?
Oh goodness, I got a bunch of similar cookie cutters, and I KNEW there had to be a way to use them for resin, I just didn't get how. Tape on the back. Well, who knew?! Oh, yeah, Myriam. Thank you. Again.
That’s awesome to hear Moogie... I hope you have a ton of fun with them! Thank you for taking time to tell me! 😊💕
I just tracked you down to tell you the same thing BlackCat2 shared with you below. Super Idea. Good girl BlackCat2 for sharing also.
