The first time I did this fight (shortly after its release), near 20% left everyone started dropping like flies, leaving only the two PLD tanks alive. I was in voice chat with a friend of mine and we both figured it was a wipe, but the PLDs both proceeded to duo that last 20% down with the best impromptu teamwork I've ever seen (they stated afterward that they were frantically winging it). Clemency, Covers, cooldowns, it was astonishing. I wish I could have given them both my commendation. That triumphant music couldn't have been more fitting for a feat like that.
It's always awesome when you know 100% that one or two people's actions SPECIFICALLY were what saved the raid- healer surviving for 30 sec with barely any others to make LB3, RDM throwing out like 4-6 rezzes before dying themselves, PAL/WARs taking down large portions of the fight on their own, heck, even SMN healing in a super early dungeon after the healer dies and you do NOT have the time to sit and do a rez (and Swiftcast is on cd)
Reminds me of the time I did Diamond weapon, and we had already wiped like 3 times, so when everyone but me(PLD) and the dark knight died at 50%, I said screw it and with the powers of paladin we duoed the remaining 50%
You remind me, in the Amdapor Castle, against Ferdiad, one of the DPS and the tank died early. Instead of waiting, the DPS returned to the begining immediately. As a WM, I somehow managed to rez the Tank fast enough and restore everyone's life so we pulled through with only 3 people while the DPS was stuck on the other side of the barrier just watching x)
Aka ‘so this is where the trailer music ended up in’.
I figure it's always the final boss of whatever the biggest content is, and I usually get it right XD
@@hgjfkd12345 You are correct! Soken loves to sneak in the final boss music in the last half of all the trailers. He's been doing it for years :D
I would love to hear this be performed live, this sounds so good and powerful. Soken is truly a gift.

@@stefanomartinelli9791 Most of Eden Questline is all around FF8. I mean the music for The Empty is the Overworld theme for FF8 and when I have music on and I hear the theme. It makes me want to play FF8...
Just like how the Bozjan content made me want to play FFXII.

So I had the creepiest thing happen to me when fighting promise. The fights was going fine but I get a DC. however as I get the DC is when promise says "now your memories belong to us".

If anyone is looking for where this comes from, the name of the ascian is Artemis. This is an actual representation of Artemis : Artemis of Ephesus. The part on top of the head is most likely a reference de Gaia since they fused together
I'm clearly missing something, I know this was a fusion of Mitron and Loghrif; I'm not super versed in the Ascian lore, fill me in pls
@@notthalis9545 it is greek mythology stuff. the Ascian's true names are fromgreek mythology which is why this boss has heavy design theme from greek mythology
Good to point it out that Artemis is another name for artemisia, which is the basically the original name used for ultimecia.
I can almost hear the "oh God dammit" when the tank got 90k'd towards the end of the fight.
Other people have pointed out that this entire raid tier was basically Ultimecia without namedropping her, but I think it’s important to note why that is the way it is in the first place.
Even if you’re not a fan of the Omega raids, they were very obviously just blatant fanservice fights that banked a lot on “I remember FFV/VI I clapped when I saw funny train boss!” I quite like them, but they’re a lot less integrated into the story and lore of the game than Bahamut and Alexander. This also means that if you don’t care for V or VI, Alphascape is the only tier that would probably mean anything to you.
Now that Eden is done, it genuinely feels like a hybridization of the Bahamut/Alexander style of self-contained FFXIV stories and the Omega style of outright fanservice, both to FFVIII and XIV. It’s true that there’s still fights like “Oh I know Titan I clapped when I saw landslide” but there’s now a concrete lore-friendly reason why we’re getting that fanservice, instead of the loose rules Omega used of a multi-dimensional tournament. It’s a testament to the devs’ abilities that they were able to turn Ultimecia’s 4-phase final boss fight into a 4-tier raid floor with fights that are very clearly based off her phases, even going so far to use music from them in E11 and E12, but also having them make sense in the context of XIV and not require knowledge of VIII for people who haven’t played it. FF newcomers get interesting fights and FFVIII fans get the representation and music remixes. Both sides are included and I think that’s admirable.
Very interested to see where the next expansion’s raid goes. I’m betting on either Sin or Jenova, but I have faith the dev team will be able to both surprise us and give us quality content.
I'd add that it's not even self-contained like Alexander was; it fully answers a number of questions of the First's history you may have had throughout the main story - how did the first sin eater get created, how did Ardbert's final fight there actually unfold, and on a more long term lore level, what the process of "uplifting" one of the sundered Ascians to their original station can resemble. It ties up these loose ends from the MSQ on its own terms. It's much closer to the Coils in terms of how it interacts with the story; it provides context to some things that may be difficult to bring up in the MSQ proper, and by the end it provides a bridge that may permit the characters to show up in the MSQ later(Ryne and Gaia's musings that Gaia may be able to cross the rift now).
While Bahamut runs parallel but separately from MSQ, Alexander breaks away from it and goes its own direction, and Omega is just kinda... there... Eden runs fully parallel and connected to the MSQ without demanding completion of its associated patches.
@@Kadjicat Very good point about Alexander that I had almost forgotten. My brain just defaults to thinking it’s very important for MSQ only because of Shadowbringers dragging it back in after 4 years of it just kinda happening.
Bismarck was already basically the Sin fight from X.

Promises was not kept and Mitron conceded in the last verse, it’s how I interpreted it.
Title is "Promises to Keep" and it drops from the fight in normal mode.

This epic song is close to Hades's theme in my heart.
I think it uses the same music style or thematic. Alex Moukala (great FF14 music youtuber) explained musicians tend to use this when an uplifting emotional event takes place, as it's one of the most effective techniques. To hit you in the feels kinda. But yeah they both sound similar.

Or Star crossed lovers who were separated through the millennia after trying to save their world finally reunite? I think its ok for him to be a little obsessive with the lives they both lead and the machination's they found themselves trapped. I based this on the last line where Gaia says maybe he will find her again after he is reborn which you can take as someone not hating their time together. That being said Gaia and Ryne are cute together.

Interestingly, several things point out at Mitron being either female or non-binary in the ancient world, which is why L. points out that Mitron's appearance has changed a lot in FR and JP (that and Mitron's voice coming out from their crystal in 5.3, the pale purple one, was feminine sounding). Cyella also refers to Mitron with she/her pronouns in french when you've finished the Eden story, so it's possible Mitron still preferred those pronouns in their current incarnation.
Then you have the whole boss being designed after one of the oldest representations of the godess Artemis.

SMT creatures are just reiterations of pre-existing deities. Super boob goddess is ancient. Though I can't recall which civilization.

@@Reynsoon yeah i enjoyed that a lot being a big fan of smt and the ivalice allance game series. Made oraborne monistary my favourite alliance raid till they nerfed it. It really wasnt that hard, people just needed to open their eyes a little

I didnt see it going this direction at all. Was thinking they would summon HW primals,Odin too. My theory was If they needed The Empty to TRULY be balanced in all senses they would need all aspects of it even the ones that deal with existence, not just elements.
Odin would be some edenic god of death
Sephirot a sort of god of life.
Zurvan the god of good and evil and in this case perhaps be summoned as god of Light and Dark instead,
And Sophia who can bring it all in balance.
WELL that wasnt the case, the only one I'm sad to not see was Odin, he had an intriguing story in base game and then he was forgotten imo.
But
The idea of an Ascian, the main antagonists to appear in a non MSQ path story that was pretty interesting. And I'm glad at this point we didnt just fully kill him.
Technically somewhere down the line Mitron can come back. (I'm tired of having to kill Ascians with depth)
All in all good raid.
Odin's nature and the origins of Zantetsuken do get briefly touched on in Eureka's storyline and the Baldesion Arsenal, including a boss with similar tweaked mechanics, but I agree a totally reimagined fight could be cool to see.

This raid series wasn't flawless, but in truth I have to declare it as my favorite in the game.
Has anyone figured out what the song is for the first half of the 5.4 patch trailer? I know this is obviously the second half of the trailer but I’m racking my brains for the first part and I can’t figure it out.
I'm assuming it's a track from 5.41 or 5.45; for example, the first song of the 5.3 trailer was from Bozja
It’s called ‘The Queen Awakens’ and plays at the end of Delubrum Reginae, but I’m sure you know that by now lol

The community finder may also be a very good resource as well
@@Pixel-Pixie I would recommend using/finding a discord group call P.R.C (Primal raiding community) they are probably the best place to find groups for a lot of things, including end game content (yes ultimate too) They can be tagged for "clear" groups if let's say you find a group to raid with but keep hitting enrage with the same boss. There is specific folks that help with it if they are available. So worth a shot!

This door boss is a damn monster in Savage XD ive been blind progging with my group and its been a fantastic experience, this fight definitely pushes you pretty hard.
To hell with the lions though, thats a nasty mechanic and a half.

It's interesting with Hades, Gaia, and Artemis that the Convocation's true names feel more like a Greco-Roman pantheon to me in naming.
Makes sense. Ardbert can potentially be the fragment of a once female ancient one after all.

This is the Ascisn expansion tho. I’m just glad Loghriff and Mitron got some proper development here instead of just being background figures that technically caused the flood of light.
They did say when ShB was first coming out that Eden would eventually be required MSQ. Meaning it was obvious from the start it was gonna be ascians
@@archevenault I wouldn't call it outright romance, they're very close but more explicitely in a soulmate way (which is by NO mean less strong than a romantic bond), it's left ambiguous on purpose though, much like any relationship of that kind in xiv (other examples include the Wol with some NPCs, Hien and Cirina, Asahi's affection for Zenos, even Gaia and Ryne etc.). They like to leave it to the player according to the devs.
Anybody else disappointed by the music this raid tier? This track in particular felt very underwhelming to me
If anything, this track is the best part of the tier. The story was the bad part.

@@joshuabradley6110 What was incomprehensible about the story? Gaia turns out to be the unawakened Asian named Loghrif alluded to throughout the main story quest, and Eden was an Ascian sin eater.
