Thank you so much for the recommendation!! Unfortunately we actually left Romania a few days ago! 😭 Next time we come back we will definitely try it!! Thank you!
what is not mentioned in the report for some incomprehensible reason is that for the construction of the palace that they find so beautiful, 1/6 of the historical center of Bucharest was destroyed. Just to pass over the miserable conditions in which the construction workers had to work, in other words: the construction of this disproportionate building in every way has claimed many lives. The fact that it is still standing is mainly because after the fall of Ceausescu (who commissioned the construction of the castle) there was little choice but to complete the construction (1997) to prevent an already gaping hole in the city center from becoming even bigger. The building is one of the most expensive buildings in use, subsides by one and a half centimeters every year and is barely heatable due to its bizarrely large dimensions, the building is also only partly in use. PS: of course I appreciate Wyat and Reyka taking a video about a beautiful city in a fantastic country, but I thought my additional information was too important to leave out
What a sad history for such a beautiful building… thanks for elucidating us and everyone else here in the comments. We wish nothing but the best for Romanians. Can’t wait to come back. Cheers!
Michael Jackson's Bucharest in 1992 was his first concert ever recorded on a DVD. I attended his second concert in 1996 when I was 13. I jumped 2 fences and got my ass kicked by the security agents when I tried to sneak in, but eventually they let me in for free after tens of minutes of begging :))
Pentagon (U.S.A.) is considered no.1 building in the world ,but is a military building , while Palace of Parliament (Romania) is a civilian building (that means at this chapter is no.1 civilian building in the world)
@@WyattandReyka Palace of Parliament is the place where the current government of Romania (a republic) hold meetings for their agenda in ruling this country ,some parts of this massive building it's open for tourists , and of course ,not all the building , plus that under this massive thing is AN ANTI - ATOMIC BUNKER (not open for tourists ,of course ,with 7 levels and 5000 rooms) ,the dictator Nicolae Ceausescu (the communist president of Romania 1974-1989) built that massive bunker , a possible HQ of Army in the case of war...
The Arch of Constantine in Rome is decorated with four statues of Dacians, the original inhabitants of Romania. The arch also features several panels depicting scenes from Trajan’s Dacian Wars. Both the statues and panels date back to Trajan's time and were repurposed for the Arch of Constantine. The arch itself, however, commemorates Constantine’s victory over Maxentius. The first recorded triumphal arch was built in Rome in 196 BCE.
The largest administrative building is a building from India(the Surat Diamond Bourse), then Pentagon comes and then Palace of the parliament in Bucharest
@@Sofia-0001 yes, but it falls into the same category, whether it's used by the state or by private companies, it's still an office building, that's what those who made this top thought about, if you look on the internet everywhere you'll see this top where the one from India is on the first place, the Pentagon on the 2nd and this building on the 3rd
When they made the comment about communist architecture, they were referring to the apartment buildings of Soviet arch inspiration that represent a large part of the city, not the area with Casa Poporului.
@@WyattandReyka There's also the fact that the parliament building was built by tens of thousands of political prisoners (essentially slaves), and a fair number of them died in the process. Nobody knows exactly how many died in the construction efforts as the records were intentionally destroyed, but some estimates are as high as a thousand.
Makes sense… that’s very sad. We mainly meant that it is a beautiful building. Didn’t know much of the sad past behind it. Cheers though hope you enjoyed the video besides that! 🤗
@@WyattandReyka All good. Most tourists go "Iz big building! Wow, much impress" and leave it at that. It was really nice to see that you experienced the Romanian hospitality towards foreigners. It's a bit funny: Romanians in general are way happier to see foreigners than another Romanian xD There's a kind of xenophilia here.
Guys, the info you have regarding Reichstag is wrong. It has only 6 floors and a floor area of 61,166 m2. Parliament building has 12 floors (not to count the underground area, which is not that known but it's massive) with a floor area of 365,000 m2.

Glad you enjoyed the Palace of Parliament, I think the comment you've shown is expressing the feeling the communist regime left us with, so the architecture was more of a scapegoat to express those feelings. For us it's the biggest eye sore in the city, a giant middle finger reminding us of why our country had to stagnate for decades in poverty just because of one crazy man

No way 😂 It's not fit for that and even if it were that's probably the case when there's some bigger event going on. Museums across Europe where they recreate rural life or life in a certain time period (such as the Black Country Museum in the UK) are just for show. They're hired actors. Of course, there may not be that many items left by that time, but it's a neat way of saving a few lei if you're passing by anyway and feeling peckish. 😊 Look for a sign on the window that reads _"vânzare accelerată",_ literally "accelerated vending". 😊 9:02 _Papanași_ is more like _/pa.pa.'našʲ/._ This is due to one of many Slavic influences in Romanian; when a word ends in "i", said letter causes a palatalization of the preceding consonant. This is why _București_ is pronounced _/bu.ku.'reštʲ/._ But if you see the form _papanașii,_ with double-i, that's not a typo; the second "i" is the definite article plural....and the pronunciation now becomes _/pa.pa.'naši:/ (pa-pa-NA-shee)_ alright. 🥴😂

So jealous!!! Would absolutely love to have seen Michael Jackson perform. Sounds amazing! 🥰
Pentagon (U.S.A.) is considered no.1 building in the world ,but is a military building , while Palace of Parliament (Romania) is a civilian building (that means at this chapter is no.1 civilian building in the world)
Oh man we even verified the reichstag online but we should’ve double checked our sources.
Thank you so much!! 🥰🤗
That’s fascinating!! Would love to see the nuclear shelter!!
Super fascinating thank you for sharing! 🥰🤗

The Reichstag is considerably smaller than the Parliament in Bucharest. The Romanian Parliament is only smaller than the Pentagon
The largest administrative building is a building from India(the Surat Diamond Bourse), then Pentagon comes and then Palace of the parliament in Bucharest
@@michelobala6846 There are office building not legislative or government buildings. Here is about state administrative buildings, not offices use.
Reichstag is 6 times smaller than the Romanian Parliament.

Yes they are sooooo beautiful you are right! 🤗
When they made the comment about communist architecture, they were referring to the apartment buildings of Soviet arch inspiration that represent a large part of the city, not the area with Casa Poporului.
Ah makes sense. We figured it was overarching to all communist architecture because they didn’t specify haha. But thanks for the message!
Hello :) Which neighborhood did you stay in? :)
Right next to old town!! 🤗
Guys, the info you have regarding Reichstag is wrong. It has only 6 floors and a floor area of 61,166 m2. Parliament building has 12 floors (not to count the underground area, which is not that known but it's massive) with a floor area of 365,000 m2.

it was clear from the accent what nation you are from. I looked and discovered that Wyatt is from the capital. there are many things I envy about you, but mostly I do it for the great luck of seeing with your own eyes nhl and nfl matches. honest , I apologize again to both of you for the final remark in that comment with the planet Mars.
Although I (Wyatt) love Washington D.C, I’m actually from the Washington, the state. It’s north of California, and, in my opinion, it’s the better Washington haha. If you watch NFL/NHL than you’ll know the Seattle Seahawks and Kraken are both from there.
Still though, seeing live sports is definitely one reason to love the USA! You should come visit and watch a bunch of games! 🤗
@@WyattandReyka oh, that's it, sorry for the confusion. naturally I know about this state. I don't need to say more about the superb movie with tom hanks and meg ryan. thank you for your attention. obviously I know about the 2 teams. all my life I will remember what happened with the Packers in 2012 at that Hail Mary when even now it is not known if it was an interception or a touchdown. I didn't like the superbowl final of 2007 the most when I saw that at the end of the game catch with 2 opponents in the jump and with Eli Manning under pressure, he was also pulled by the shirt, I liked it, I'm not kidding, by Tim Tebow in 2011 in the Playoff in the match with the Steelers. then I can say that there was a god, no one thought that he would beat the Broncos. honestly, thank you for your kindness to me when I was a little mean to you. now I am ashamed of what I did
I actually still haven’t seen that movie! 😂
Wow your sports knowledge is really good haha! You undoubtedly remember when the hawks lost to the patriots when Russell Wilson threw that interception on the goal line. Still a sad moment in my memory
I’m pulling for the hawks to win the Super Bowl this year! 🤞 Lions and chiefs are really good but we’ll see!
And no worries! We get this is the current comment section culture of the internet! We didn’t take anything personally haha. By this point we are used to getting lots of criticism haha.
Cheers for the nice comment though you made our morning! Take care new friend! Hope to see you in the comments again! 🥰
@@WyattandReyka one last comment for today. obviously I know a lot about this sport, even from the recent period. Geno Smith is quite good but I think I liked Wilson better. honestly, the chiefs are very strong and the lions are not the team anymore from the championships some time ago, imagine how the team looks now if Calvin Johnson played in these times, but your team is capable of succeeding this season. [I remembered what Tom Brady was able to do later in the super bowl with the Atlanta Falcons, it was unreal] in conclusion, you are right, we will see what will happen with your team this season. I don't know what to say about hockey , the season is long and Kraken can reach the playoffs, to struggle terribly for this, I'm sorry that Tomáš Tatar came to your team... too late, at the end of his career. and here anything is possible look at what's happening with San Jose, Chicago or Pittsburgh. if I came out of a coma I entered in the past years and saw what's happening with these 3 teams, I'd tell you that I cheated death, but on the other hand, I gone crazy ... clinical. oh, I'm not boring you anymore, I've written too much. bye.

Oh that’s so cool! We figured the houses were just for show! Haha!
Cheers thanks for telling us 🤗
No way 😂 It's not fit for that and even if it were that's probably the case when there's some bigger event going on. Museums across Europe where they recreate rural life or life in a certain time period (such as the Black Country Museum in the UK) are just for show. They're hired actors. Or there's villages where you can visit and there's a few houses that got the official monument status, but it's mostly just people's homes or they live there whenever it's the tourist season. Don't spread fake info, come on
That's not true at all. How come you guys invent such silly stuff lol 🤣🤣
ok, I apologize for my tone. but I am from Bucharest, a city with potential, thanks to this city I have 2 jobs, and I must admit that you are right to love it. ok, let me tell you something else. all those gloomy things written by me are pure truths. if you don't believe me, I'll give you another hint, all these things led to the election in the first electoral round of a person who hates Jews, the European Union and is pro-Russian. he promised to the Romanians that there will be no more children in Romania who will suffer from hunger. comment for First Time in ROMANIA! 🇷🇴 (not what we expected) you know what is interesting, your joy from the first seconds of the video. guys, the truth is that you are ignorant, you have no idea what a disaster exists in this country. and it is said by a citizen who lives here and is rational. there are almost 240,000 children who they eat only once a day, more than 80 percent of elderly patients in asylums beg for food at the fences, those hospitalized for mental illness are kept in bed chains and brutally beaten, people attacked by hungry bears and killed or people who they sell their good clothes so they can pay the bills and better food for their children. you probably come from Mars to our country

Poate explici de ce este urâtă aceasta clădire!
3:42 _/ka.ška.'val/_ -- the _ș_ is pronounced, by and large, like English _sh._ But mad kudos for even trying! 😊😊
As an aside, almost every Luca will offer a 50% discount from 30-60 mins to closing time. Of course, there may not be that many items left by that time, but it's a neat way of saving a few lei if you're passing by anyway and feeling peckish. 😊 Look for a sign on the window that reads _"vânzare accelerată",_ literally "accelerated vending". 😊
9:02 _Papanași_ is more like _/pa.pa.'našʲ/._ This is due to one of many Slavic influences in Romanian; when a word ends in "i", said letter causes a palatalization of the preceding consonant. 🥴😂
Hi! Thank you so much for the nice message! 🇷🇴 🥰 we absolutely love Romania and appreciate all of your nice suggestions. We will try to get the pronunciations right in the future haha! 😅
