It's got nothing to do with Covid. Frey and the city council turned downtown into a shithole version of downtown Detroit. They did the same thing to uptown too. I watched the reopening of the Dayton s on the mall gallery of retail stores and found it ironic that the idiot that killed downtown was the same guy who was cutting the ribbon at the grand opening. Some of this shot you cannot make up.

Just went downtown minneapolis yesterday (january 30th, a saturday of 2022 in case someone sees this in the future), the city had little population walking the streets, everything seemed closed or had no one in it. It just seemed like I had to watch out in some areas.
I went to go because of a vintage flea market that was taking place in the Convention Center. A lot of people were present for that. I parked my car in a pay to park lot. The lot seemed neglected but didnt bother me with it because parking lots are just parking lots, who cares?
When I went up to the ground level, everything seemed alright, the big park area was quite nice to look at and some people were gathered by the flea market event.
After I left the market, I decided to take a big long walk around the cities "go to's." I was walking the streets and wanted to record some of it, sort of like a minneapolis tour-the-streets. However, after a couple blocks, i noticed that there were yellow snow piss spots almost EVERYWHERE i walked and it degraded the cleaniness of the sidewalks. Didnt want to show that. A lot of trash was littered everywhere, but I didn't really pay attention to that because I assumed every city is like that. As I kept walking, i couldnt help but look at all of the poorly maintained buildings. It was like years of neglect or carelessness deprived it of any life and they seemed very vacant. Everyone who was on the streets were either in big groups or hurrying fast, I don't know the reason why, but that was super common? Later, I went into the city center (sort of like a mall?) and went into a Marshalls where they had to have a security guard stand in front of the door. Imagine needing a guard and metal detectors for a basic little store. There were maybe a few people here and there. I then went onto the ground floor of the center (i entered through a bottom floor from escalators taking me down) and almost every shop was either closed or contained a vacant slot with nothing in it. No one was in the mall except for maybe one person. I couldnt even find a public bathroom. I wandered the streets for 30 more minutes and found everyone either just loitering around a store entrance, or, at this point, anyone at all. Everything just seemed so uninviting, eerie, or hostile. I felt uncomfortable, so i headed back to the car, following the piss stained snowy sidewalks with deteriorating small buildings and lifeless surroundings.
Did I just come at a really bad time, or are people becomming less collective and more cautious of each other?
[Edit] the edits were made to fix grammar mistakes, I do not really care to look at flawless grammar because this was all typed on my phone. That is all!
