They put a vibrato on!!!! Awesome. The absence of one before was one of the most mind-boggling decisions ever. I mean it's called a Surfliner....
It's called marketing. Everyone raged and now everyone is happy. They knew what they were doing the entire time.
They explained in a social media post on instagram the source of the name being a train in california. Not surf rock
@@calebm.614 How would anybody know that obscure referemce though lol. If you put the word "surf" on a guitar, then there's expectations. Theybwere probably just trying to save costs by not using a vibrato
@@snicker576 I see. Definitely better with the trem yeah.
@@snicker576 Google "Surfliner"? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Surfliner
Very entertaining and impressive playing John. Play more for us. Thanks so much.
I could listen to John play all day.
I love when we have a chance to hear John play!
Love the headstock design! Very cool
Those definitely look cool and sound great, I'm impressed
I have on of the first Surfliner guitars made and it is great. After this video I am getting the HH model
Guild = 😎👍
Thank you John!
Neo retro hot rods. They can do it all. Doesn’t hurt for JB to demo through his personal rig.
Bro your playing is amazing! Great review! I like that you don't have to talk much, you just let the guitar speak for itself 🤙🏻
Thoroughly enjoy your playing man. Have to get my hands on one or two of these
The black on black finish looks sharp!
That Deluxe-that's a nice-looking headstock. Something 98% of guitar makers get (horribly) wrong when trying to diverge from the established Fender and Gibson forms.
Not sure i like the tone of it, though-harsher than i'd want to hear on a tune like Lenny. But maybe that's a choice. Well done, Guild, though-coming up with a design taht looks classic while not being a direct copy of what we already know.
Pretty sweet
Sadly you can't do the bridge and neck combo with the deluxe. It would've been perfect otherwise. For that reason I'll go with the standard one.
You definitely be a "Nashville Cat".
That tremolo looks cool. I'd love it on a Tele
Nice!
@ 4:18 I really enjoyed hearing your rendition of ‘Lenny’ by SRV. I was listening to that song earlier this week, so to hear it being played on a guitar I’m interested in purchasing was a bit reassuring.
I love my Surfliner.
Mine has the three switches.
I did however, have it modded so i now have the three switches but con centric pots for each pickup.
Basically there is nothing it can’t do now.
It’s goddam magic, these guitars.
Hi! Is this guitar versatile enough to play different genres like from metal to jazz and more chill melodies?
@@NatRiveraP
Not sure if its heavy enough for metal.
Everything else?
Sure.
@@RobbieRist thanks. Very helpful to be honest. I know effects can work wonderfully too.
Need one, no, have a guitar that does exactly the same or better , yes. Thinking about getting one, of course.
I wish they would’ve kept the three selector switches and not put the blade switch on. What’s wrong with a little bit more versatility?
They could leave the blade switch, add a push switch on the tone pot to turn either the middle or neck off and on to make the pickup selections equal the other set up
my oh my
JB could demo a one stringed shovel and it would sound amazing
Major upgrade on the deluxe… you got to have a tremolo bar on a surf guitar duh I will take two please 😊
I like these.
Who’s making Guild now, Fender or Gibson?
I had a green 1999 Guild blues-90 that I regret having sold. Great guitars.
Now owned by Cordoba Guitars.
@@kingstumble Which has been sold to the Yamaha group.
@@45zapatero Blimey I didn't know that. Yamaha going for world domination?
Yamaha owns Guild now.
Yamaha, so reliable
I want all three
👍👍👍✌
Soon as he started playing, the guitar vanished from my old mind😂👌🏿
Man, I'm loving that Surfliner Deluxe model. Surf my arse. That's a rock machine. I hate super strats but this I really like. I was considering a a jazz master or a strat and this will work and I do not have to choose. The only thing I do not like if the tremolo plate because it is shaped slightly different than the replacements that you can buy to upgrade that type of Tremolo so holes will be need to drilled to upgrade it and I wish they would recess those like they do on most back plates. Why bother recessing the back and not the part that is most visible? Makes no sense but they all do it.
Not going to demo the split feature on the HH . . . ?
Show off 😁
Where can you buy the Surfliner Deluxe with the Rosewood fretboard? I can’t find it anywhere.
Has literally just been announced.
Too soon?
Does it need a special case or can you put in a case that fits strat type guitars? Thank you.
Would love that vibrato on my guild third instead of hagstrom
I love it john, it sounds great and your an awesome picker my friend. my facebook has been hacked big time and i have had that account since 2009 any ideas how to fix this ?????
Love it but I would need some hot pickups
on zounds the specs say they are just vintage tuners, not locking tuners
Come together
The huild d'Lux You liked it Better. And the prices ? You didnot play much the HSS. A reason??
Not a fan of those goofy rocker switches though. The Deluxe version has a big edge since it has a 'normal' pickup selector.
23 frets, interesting
