A lot of people say this actually. There’s a LangFocus video about it.
It’s because of vowel reduction, which isn’t used in Brazillian Portuguese I believe
its because of the phonetics. they're very similar. and since the accent from portugal is thicker it sounds a bit like russian. no suprise why russians learn portuguese extremely fast

You should give learning Welsh a go! Some say it's really hard to learn, but it's a nice old Brithonic language.. though be careful of the 'LL', it's actually a single vowel, then can impress native Welsh speakers by pronouncing the town Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
