      What I'm getting is that whenever you're in the company of the people you love and doing fun things you feel genuine happiness but then can't stand it to be alone. If that is the case you need to work on getting to love yourself and getting to enjoy YOUR OWN company. At the end of the day you are the person you're with at all times and you cant rely on the company of others all the time to feel genuine happiness. You deserve happiness when you're by yourself too and the feeling of dissatisfaction of being on your lonesome can lead to serious problems such as drug or alcohol abuse as a way to cope with your own company and as a way to escape, depression, self harm, eating disorders, etc. Please take time to know yourself and think about the things YOU wanna do and the things you would enjoy doing alone. If I was to guess maybe you come home, stay in bed, watch youtube videos, a movie, binge watch a show, stay up late, get unhealthy hours of sleep, etc. If that is the case then this way of living is way more unhealthy than you might think and could be a big factor why you're not comfortable being alone because when you live like this you're not actually taking the time to make yourself happy or creating happy/fun memories you can look back on. If you think being by yourself is seriously damaging your mental health and you cant stand the idea of being alone then i SERIOUSLY hope you take my advice and not just read it and think "thats a good idea" but actually follow it.
      1 - keep an active and healthy schedule (maybe writing it down on a notebook can help serving you as a guide) and try following it as much as possible and be more mindful about your sleep schedule, I would say going to sleep around midnight and waking up around 9 am (maybe set a reminder on your phone to tell you to go to sleep at midnight)
      2 - take time to do things you enjoy that will get you out of bed and keep you from binge watching shows. For me personally would be working on an art piece, going for walks while listening to music, meditating and going to the beach. Other options could be doing a sport, practicing self care, writing music, playing an instrument or even doing something you've always wanted to try, take time to know yourself and what you enjoy
      3 - take 1-2 hours 2 or 3 days in a week to do some chores, clean the house - this will make you feel accomplished and that your time went into something productive and having a clean and tidy home can improve and boost mental health
      4 - keep a schedule for when its time to study and focus on school work or on your job (maybe 3-4 hours a day) and make sure you follow this as much as you can because doing well in school/college is a huge mental health booster and if you study regularly you gain momentum and feel like you're actually learning and enjoying the process.
      In the beginning it may be tough but you'll see once you get the groove you'll feel better with yourself and not feel like being alone is a waste of time. Now I'm not saying you can't have days where all you do is just lay in bed and binge watch your favorite show, in fact quite the opposite, there should be days where all you need is to relax and not do anything BUT THOSE DAYS SHOULD BE the exception. If you do this you will look back and and feel good about yourself, you will have good memories of yourself on your own and you'll feel like you've accomplished something

    • @wonderland4515
      @wonderland4515 3 роки тому +5

      i know it was quite a long answer but i do wish you go through it because i spent 2 years of my life where i was very unhappy being on my own even though i felt happy with others. That lead me to heavy alcohol consumption as a way to escape instead of actually facing my problems so i know the seriousness of the situation and where it can lead to. Fortunately those days are over and I can say im much better with myself and now not only can i enjoy company of others but my own too and thats how i did it. its a dark path to go through and a lonely path for that matter that many dont get out of. I hope i was able to help and offer some insight and if you feel like the situation you're in is alarming or feel like its only getting worse then i strongly encourage you to seek professional help.

    • @casn1ne928

      absolutely. and this is also really hurtful because many people (like myself) may be experiencing lots of these symptoms and may ACTUALLY BE depressed but because they don't display obvious common symptoms people will think they're just saying they might have it for attention or that it's simply fake. that's why im so reluctant to go to anyone about it, i feel like im faking it even though i know i experience things when im alone and wouldn't get any attention for it (therefore not faking it at all)

      If people are faking it, there's probably a significant psychological reason why. And attention-seeking can be a way situational depression manifests - the person is in a bad relationship or position and feels a need for attention to cope. So even if the depressive symptoms are faked, there is probably another issue at the root of it

    Edit: I feel like at this point I have a responsibility to say something. I plan on going to therapy, I know it will take time, but I will always advocate for people get help when they need it. Strangely it’s easier for us to forget our mental wounds because they aren’t so apparent, unlike a broken leg/arm. Even, like I said I know I probably should go to therapy, I’m just preparing myself for the process itself. Also, if you don’t like the professional, it’s okay to leave them (easier said then done 😅). Just remember, just like any physical wound, if mental health is left untreated it can and will get worse, stay true to who are while gaining the courage to better yourself. If you forgot what “happy” feels like, it’ll be cool if you stick around until you experience it again 😊

      Get a break from family,,, ooohhh hit too close to home. I feel exhausted since pandemic start, it's just stress non-stop. I want to get out and have fun with friends. I know family is important and I love them truly but please they can be too much hhuuuuh.. i did have fun with them too.
      (I STILL CAN'T GET OVER MY PARENTS DOESN'T LET ME HANGOUT WITH FRIENDS ERGH)
      I just want to meet all my friends outside from school, work and all stressing stuff. I wanna talk face to face not typing, it doesn't feel enough because I would avoid it as much as I can (because it's awkward TrT). I only text for hw that's it, usually meet them to ask how their day at school.
      BRUHH everything I said just make me sound selfish. I feel like I'm on my breaking point. One day I'm going to have a mental breakdowns damnit hopefully not so soon.

    (FOR THE REPLIES:
    If I mean talking about, I mostly mean ventig (consensually) and rambling. i can't take advice and most people don't even know what to say, but giving your thoughts more room makes more place for calmness. again, like a diary or basically any other way of communicating. you could even write down your thoughts and burn them, or scream into a pillow until your throat hurts. as long as you/i feel like someone, or even something, knows about it, it helps.

      He helped me through a lot (probably because he'd been there too) and was my figurative shoulder to lean on.
      And I did figure some stuff out, like my gender identity, which took some of the stress off of me.
      there's still some stuff bugging me, and i can't even put my finger on what it is, but (at least partially) confiding in another person really helped me, so this is what i would advise others.

    I don't think I'm depressed, but when I summed up my "symptoms" and things I struggle with, my homeroom teacher asked me: "could there be a possibility youre depressed?"
    I still don't think that's the case, I know some people that are depressed and the way I feel doesn't really compare. But at the same time, they say comparing your pain and struggles to that of others isn't a good way to "measure".
    My teacher told me they don't know how to help me, and that it might be a good idea to talk to a professional. I'm quite nervous to ask my parents, since I've tried before. This basically ended in them not really understanding why I can't just push myself to get things done and get a good day-to-day schedule. I can't tell them why because I don't even know myself. It's like I'm tied down and see something crumble and fall in front of me: I want to support it and make sure it doesn't fall, but I can't.
    It's really frustrating, since I can perfectly tell when and how it goes wrong and what I should do to fix it.

    • @wonderland4515
      @wonderland4515 3 роки тому

Fortunately those days are over and I can say im much better with myself and now not only can i enjoy company of others but my own too and thats how i did it. its a dark path to go through and a lonely path for that matter that many dont get out of. I don't want to sound "alarmist" or anything, but something actually wrong with your heart could mean your blood isn't circulating efficiently... AND that leads to you NOT getting enough oxygen around your body and to your brain... AND oxygen deprivation often presents as "fatigue" along with disorientation, general clumsiness, and difficulty in thinking clearly.
      Obviously, it doesn't HAVE to be a physical problem... BUT before we waste a whole lot of time pushing the "mental health" as the root of all problems, you might want to check and just make sure you're physically alright. ;o)

While I believe that that's a contributing factor, I still have to accept that my brain does not produce the proper chemicals. It's a weird feeling when you're 10 and you think everyone is lying about being able to feel joy just because you can't. For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back straight, eyes closed, be as still as possible and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 5-10-15 minutes or more. I hate that people put so much emphasis on talking to others about things. I’ve been dealing with shit for so many years and still am, yet I’ve never talked to anyone about it and gradually I got used to it and got better all by myself. Every time I hear something like “you should talk to someone about it,” it just gets on my nerves and makes me question myself, like “am I really fine now?” And I know many others also don’t have anyone to talk to about things and telling us to talk to someone about it just makes us feel worse. So if you’re one of those people, know that although talking to someone about things can help you, it doesn’t mean you can’t get better without it.

    ***TURNED INTO A PERSONAL VENT, REALLY SORRY, TRIED NOT TO BE OVERLY EXPLICIT OFC, JUST MENTIONS OF VARIOUS STUFF, IT'S MOSTLY FOR ME ANYWAY***
    I hate how ironic and bizzare it feels. It's like PPL perceive me as this embodiment of calmness and the least confrontational and problematic person (and I am, to them), but inside I feel like I can't go back to healthily directing my anger and sadness anymore bc I used to be so open and then started repressing it. So I get very hot headed and explode. Or sometimes precisely bc I don't confront and instead ignore the problem or avoid/distance myself from others I get rly scary and violent obsessive thoughts bc of my intense emotions having no escape. I will be the first to help but when I try to seek help it just never goes how I promise myself it will, I either downplay it or notice someone isn't taking it seriously OR doesn't know how to react and help (which isn't anyone's fault either ofc). I thought things would be different when now I am meant to be under care of professionals but it all feels so formal and awkward and I need to warm up to it but I'm never sure how bc there's to much raw emotion that I haven't shown to anyone except for my family in so long. My friends try but it can only go so far like i previously mentioned. My family tried to support me too but my mum has a mental illness/disorder and my dad has a genetic sickness. I try to shield my brother but it impacts us. It feels rly strange bc I feel like the only one "stable" enough in the family but the weight of dealing with it all and keeping it in check constantly impacts my health a lot and if I can only do so much myself then what about my brother. My mum realised that but causes us unintentional emotional harm and stress even whe she tried and help to look for a professional to help him as well. I didn't think things would be easier when I got older and older but feelings helpless while it all falls apart in front of me feels so heartbreaking. My emotions either get so repressed to the point of emptiness or so intense I keep causing myself unintentional harm my hurting myself out of anger (not like cut@@ng or anything, just when other methods of controlling my anger don't work, I hurt myself to not hurt other ppl out of necessity/automatically. Or I back myself up unit a corner with obsessive thoughts which seem satisfying but they get scarier and scarier to the point where I scare myself and I feel like I definitely shouldn't feel this way about smth. Or keep having panic attacks and rage eruptions. It feels like most my sadness has been turned into anger and dismissiveness at this point. I just feel so exhausted I can't bring myself to care that much about my problems but I'm literally stuck with them and have to battle them every day. I never felt sui***al per se, bc I just don't think it'd bring me personally satisfaction or free me or anything-it'd still feel like a wasted opportunity cuz I had so many dreams and plans for life, to exhaust it till I naturally decay. I don't think it'd give me the type of peace I yearn for bc who knows what'd happen after death but if I can't feel that peace, is it rly peace at all? Sure some ppl rather that than pain and I get that but leaving things so unresolved in my life would not put me to rest either. I never seriously considered it, more like thought about it a lot and maybe how it'd play out or what the cause of it would be. I always remind myself it isn't the worst ppl have but downplaying it feels rly hurtful too like a jab in the heart especially if it comes from someone rly close to me.

My friends all think I’m kidding since I joke about it while forcing a laugh because it makes it feel less real, I think that’s why I kept telling myself I was being dramatic. But if i try to fall asleep because i feel tired, it's just me laying down as sleep just doesn't come to me. Its hard to fall asleep at night as well though.
    I don't think its because of depression, i just think my body is like that as its not that I don't have will to get out if bed of get things done. I just don't wanna get out of bed as though its the most uncomfortable shit while trying to sleep at night, its comfortable for some reason when i have to get up and i just don't wanna get up. I always have bad nightmares and i wake up with fear.
    My only emotional support are my dog and my friends, i don't tell them never how i am or what i been doing, i love hearing theur thoughs and that makes me feel good cause if i talk, i feel like i'm making them sad or i'm annoying them.
    I wanted to write what i feel now, my english is not good and if someone readed this, thanks.

    this was VERY VERY apparent last year during online school when i was experiencing burnout. it was very hard for me to keep doing what i should be doing everyday. i feel like all of this applies to me, but about the smile thing, smiling is a reflex of mine. i smile when i’m nervous, when i’m embarrassed, and if someone says something it stares at me, i turn away and smile. it’s not something i do on my own, it’s reflexive, which is why others wouldn’t know i could possibly have depression.

    What should one do when they come forward in expressing their inner thoughts and most people are either ignoring it or they get scolded because they don't actually believe that they have any signs of depression which makes the person more depressed thinking that is it possible that they are just faking it and they don't know it, as majority of the people don't actually believe they have a problem????

    I was told that it’s normal to feel like this because of the pandemic and that I’m not depressed and that it will go away after the pandemic. It’s normal right? Also I was also told that if I feel like this for a short amount of time it’s sadness that everyone feels every once in a while but what is considered a short amount of time?

    • @pebble1181
      @pebble1181 3 роки тому +10

      When you’re sad, it comes and goes. You’ll feel sad for a little bit, but you’ll eventually be fine in a few days or a week. Depression rates have gone up with the pandemic, so that part is true. But it’s still depression. If you’re young and going through puberty then these signs could also be confused for depression, it’s a finicky thing.

      It is completely natural to be depressed every once in a while. I am dubbed the "happiest person in my grade", but even I still get depressed in certain areas of my life at some point in time! Pandemic depression was extremely real for me, but I believe God puts everything in your life for a reason. During the pandemic, I began to become EXTREMELY in love with singing. I always knew I wanted to be a singer, but the pandemic depression helped follow something I love to do to make me feel better!! Maybe something like this has happened to you, even though you aren't aware of it yet! If you feel an overwhelming amount of depression/sadness, you may want to; 1. Check ur medications. While I was on a superrrr strong face medication, I became a bit depressed. I started to take a lesser dose, and it went away!! 2. Talk to family/ a bff to get over your depression by explaining it/ asking for help. 3. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT: Even if you do not consider urself christian, please start to pray!! God is in control through all things! Praying will help you not be depressed, bc you give all of you heavy load to the Lord! Please ask if u hv any questions

    Sometimes I can't find the exact word to describe how I'm feeling, so when someone asks, I just say I'm tired. My friend noticed, but she still keeps asking me how I feel whenever we speak. I used to be the one insisting we spend time together, but as we grew up, she became the one always checking up on me, and calling me every day...I'm really grateful to have a friend like her, I feel like I don't deserve her. I'm happy to say that in 4 months, we'll be celebrating 10 years of friendship! The longest someone has ever stayed with me, except for my mom, of course:)
