After much frustration, I made the decision to swap out my old WFCO (WF-9855-AD) converter/charger with a newer Progress Dynamics (9160AL) model in my 2023 Airstream 27FB. Despite running two 100AH batteries, the WFCO's auto-detect feature consistently struggled to maintain lithium mode, often reverting back to lead acid mode despite my efforts to rectify the issue by following all recommended troubleshooting steps and watching instructional videos. Additionally, the incessant noise from the fan, which seemed to be linked to the incorrect mode setting, only added to the annoyance. While acknowledging that factors such as distance from the converter to the battery and wire gauge might have contributed to the problem, the persistent inability to keep the unit in lithium mode became a six-month battle. However, with the installation of the Progress Dynamics converter, completed in just 30 minutes with relative ease in my Airstream 27FB, a significant weight has been lifted. No longer do I find myself constantly checking the converter's indicator light, hoping it remains green to signify lithium mode. The new converter's two-stage lithium charging system eliminates the need to rely on finicky circuitry software, and the quiet operation of the fan coupled with improved heat dissipation brings a sense of relief. My lithium batteries now seem much happier, and I'm grateful to have finally resolved the issue.
