      Thats what actually riding your skateboard will get you! So many kids rolling 15 feet and trying to do tricks all day and dropping in and coasting the skatepark lol. Thats fine but when i was a kid i was begging the older guys to teach me tricks..this was 1996 and they told me when i could skate down the sidewalk without falling on the cracks one time they would teach me a trick..i skated that sidewalk for months lol

    • @DarwinBoys1
      @DarwinBoys1 2 роки тому +5

      Nothing against Andy but he’s not the Rodney of our era at all. Rodney was a pioneer and Andy is a “regular” dude. There are just a few People who have changed history of skateboarding

      @@DarwinBoys1 there can only be 1 Rodney, for sure. But the way how he talks about it and approaches skateboarding, borrowing elements across the borders of the skatescenes to create this unique blend, definitely reminds me of Rodney. Never really saw Rodney crushing vert as Andy does tho. So he definitely isn't Rodney, but i do think he's continuing Rodney's research

    • @DarwinBoys1
      @DarwinBoys1 2 роки тому

      @@bigmistqke I could be wrong but for me Amdy does everything for a “marketing “ purpose. Like playing a “character “ that he’s not 100%. Not sure if I’m clear but I think he control his image 100% while Rodney was just skating and inventing thousands of tricks for pure love of skating and without “marketing” goal.

      @@DarwinBoys1 I think I get what u mean. Ur not the only one that is being a bit put off by his quirky personality. In the last vod there was someone from the Powell team that said in the background 'o he always needs to be so special' in a bit of derogatory way.
      I think personally he's just a big big nerd and I vibe with it because I am also a big big nerd. Just going in the deep end w ur own stuff and just being super passionate about it and wanting to talk about it to everyone. That's also why he kinda reminds me of Rodney. Also just so in his own space. And that's why Rodney became such a pioneer and a legend. Rodney just wasn't living in the social media era, so u only got to see little bits and pieces.
      Anyway, two legends.

The two things I took away from this is the foot position relative to the rail (or applied to coping) rather than to the board and the theremin hit me really profoundly the last time I stood on a rail and started making micro movements to correct my balance, as if playing a theremin!

For a split second I get it but for anything longer it may interfere. Also your in motion so your stopping your body from bein more free. Also you take deep breathes before lifting and jumping and all that cause your body always wants fresh oxygen. I love how you and Andy are such outta the box thinkers but together a team. The "Eagle" Andy was hearing was a Red Tail Hawk. Hollywood made it so that we think that the call of a Red Tail is the call of an Eagle.

      It's funny because I was playing Far Cry Primal earlier and I kept thinking it was my mind playing tricks on me 😂 It's the exact same sfx Ubisoft uses for eagles.

    The way Andy is able to stay on a rail for so long you'd think his Trucks were magnetic
    That's some serious balance

    9:45 that bit about breathing is absolutely correct, by keeping a slow and steady breath you’re keeping a lot of systems in your body stable including the exchange of oxygen from your blood to muscles. This is because when you’re breathing slowly and steadily you’re keeping a more optimal level of carbon dioxide present in your blood, which facilitates the release of oxygen by the hemoglobin. I’m super high but I felt like sharing this haha
    Edit to note that this is because carbon dioxide presence in blood changes the pH and hemoglobin releases oxygen easier the lower the pH is. Kind of counter-intuitive, but your instinct that the breath helps is spot on. As a bonus, physiologically your body calms down a bit when you’re breathing slowly or deeply because of the parasympathetic nervous systems response.
    Andy is such a fucking legend.

    Andy talks about the lock in and feel just like Rodney talks about stacking moves then casting them under a blanket. Andy needed to move his left hand in such a way. This is the kind of Rodney s#it level. I get to clue into UA-cam and get to see every great skater in recorded history of my lifetime. Life always finds a way. Talent/ skating/sport often needs a kick in the ass to change its direction. UA-cam and Channels like Brail are giving hope to kids everywhere. Thanks

    Breathing is everything. Best breath control trick I learned from boxing: just breathe out. Your body will remember to breathe in. So we breathe out on every punch.

    Andy drops an entire college course on the art of movement while explaining a few simple aspects of skating and sword fighting. I didn't realize Andy also studied a bit of HEMA as that was longsword techniques.
