Andy blows my mind all the time what a genius and genuine man he is
this guy is a skateboarding genius
tru
Exactly why I got one of his decks even if I’m nowhere near good enough to do it justice. I couldn’t not support this guy. 🤘🤘
@@warhammer1 same man.. I even got one to save and get signed some day, and one to build as a cruiser since my busted up knees can’t do it justice. Hah 🤣🤙🏽🛹
I hope that all is well for everyone reading this comment.
Never give up on your dreams and aspirations and remember to be kind and uplifting to each other and open minded and genuine.
Andy Anderson is so disciplined. The strength of character and muscle memory it takes not to finish the sentence “I like big tails…” with “…and I cannot lie” is phenomenal. The boy’s a Jedi.
Hello
The ability to perfectly show the Carousel while holding coffee was cool af.
yeah that was cool
If there's one thing I've gleaned from watching Andy skate is that dude understand "balance" and the physics behind skateboarding. That one video where he's practicing breathing and his balance at that long rail where the metals changed multiple points really highlights the way he gets "in tune" with skating.
I just got my 8.45" version of his previous shape, some 54mm v4 Dragons and some new trucks this morning. I dig the idea behind symmetrical boards. I wonder if Powell will offer a narrower shape like they did with his previous shape, like a 8.25" width at trucks with an 8.45" at the middle.
I'm actually hyped for this board Andy is what made me curious about board shapes and freestyle in the first place. His first board and his skating was huge for getting me stoked and pushing my progression early on
I love how this is a reminder that skateboarders are actually geniuses and put so much thought, brain power, engineering skills/physics knowledge, into the sport. I don’t know of many athletes in other sports doing this much to redefine equipment and open so many new doors and possibilities for people everywhere!! It’s so cool!!! You guys make me proud to be a skater.
Shout out Dani on supported the gang.
It always amazes me listening to these two talk about the intricate details behind skateboarding. For me it has always been a thoughtless, automatic response to whichever obstacle I was skating. Due to trial and error, and many failed attempts to find what works. Dan and Andy look at it like a science project.
People don't take me seriously, cause so many haven't even heard of Andy. But he is different. He is not just about doing stuff clean, or do it longer, faster, or higher to stand out. But Andy.. His style is so unique and cool. His style, while also being a super chill person, is what makes him stand out He is the new gen skater, but he got a skater soul like the 90's skaters.
Andy is so in tune with his skating. Just another level. So insanely impressed by him all the time.
Great vid as always Dan! I’ve skated proto #13 since April and have grown to LOVE it! Such a balanced board! It also feels substantial, but not big due to the taper. I already was riding a twin and I echo the “don’t have to think about what direction the board is” ethos, was missing that with a regular popsicle.
#13 for the win ! I was so confident in that one 😅
@@authenticandyanderson Haha brother, then your perfectionism took over and you needed to tweak juuuust a liiiittle biiiit more! ;) CONGRATS ON THE RELEASE!
a twin board is what ive wanted for a long time. when i started skating 6 years ago, i was always frustrated with having to precisely know which end was my front. luckily andy's board is so irregular, so i havent had that issue, but now that im better i have the issue you discussed with tying a knot in your line, and im right back to wanting a twin again. if great minds think alike, im glad i had this mental hangup
They make boards with same shape and size nose and tail.. Ishod skates one
@adam symmetrical board
30 minutes of Andy and Dan talking skateboards? Yes please
Ive watched it twice lol
Skate-nerdery!! Love it!!
On a real note- Andy seems like to absolute coolest person to be around. I've o ly known about him for maybe a few years, but I love him more and more with every video.
I learn so damn much on this channel, the Dan + Andy combo is straight knowledge!
And I laugh so damn much too, lmao Deville stealing the show in the last three seconds
I really think that "symmetrical" boards will be the next major evolution to all skateboard decks. We'll have twin-noses, twin-tails, and twin-hybrid nose/tail; which I think will be your most common type. It's so freeing to just skate and not have to look or think about which way you board is facing. You can just keep skating and keep doing tricks. I just got my first symmetrical board (Real twin-tail), and I will never get a board that isn't symmetrical again. I would think a hybrid nose/tail would be a bit better than what I am skating, but I can still do every trick I could before without throwing in some trick I'm not really feeling just to get my board facing forward. Now it's always facing forward, and I can get lost in the moment of just skating and continuing to skate. I've noticed that when this happens, tricks just start coming out of nowhere, and I do and land tricks I otherwise wouldn't have even thought of. It insane! You can get into and stay in that flow state; which is where the magic starts to happen and tricks are just there and just come out of you out of nowhere in the moment. I see why companies like GLIDE are just making symmetrical boards. They're ahead of the curve, in that sense, for sure. Now that I skate a symmetrical board, after 20 years of skating, I started to wonder, "how hasn't this happened sooner". It's almost a no-brainer. Overall, there is no reason to have a nose and a tail. Having different variations in hybrid symmetrical boards like strains of Marijuana (indica, sativa, hybrid, indica dominant hybrids, sativa dominant hybrids) would lead to them having different lengths and kicks on the ends of the boards. Some more like noses, some more like tails, but a hybrid of both, so you can do the most tricks you like to do, and "just skate".
I want a twin nose
@@bp4861 Neen Williams Deathwish board is a twin nose.
Thanks for that Bruce. Do you often go on long tangents sharing your opinion about random things like this ? I’d love to read more of your work
yes
@@bp4861 Neen Williams skates a twin nose. I would imagine they would be great for slappys, nose/tail-nose slides, some blunt tricks, and if you like the pop and flick of a nose then it would be great for that too. Chris Roberts (9 club and Choclate) has a hybrid (more to the nose end of things) symmetrical board. He loves slappys, so I see how that would work for him.
Still have my original Andy Anderson deck complete. Can’t wait to watch the video.
Andy seems like he would be an awesome person to talk to about life in general
Got to meet and in Venice a couple days ago such a humble dude!🔥🤘🏼
*Andy😂
This is an amazing video. So blessed to have Andy and yourself share this conversation with us
Could we get the specs on the wheels trucks and bearings he’s rocking w it !!
I had noticed Andy had been doing super clean 3 flips.
yea im gonna get one to mess around with for sure
I don’t even skate and I could listen to you guys talk about boards and wheels all this stuff for so long. When you two get together it’s freaking awesome to listen to appreciate both you guys.
I stopped skating for 20 years, then out of the blue I started following Andy, Dan and the Powell team (plus a few others). That was 2 years ago, and I've been skating at least twice a week ever since. It might be time to pick up a board bro!
Death wish has a twin nose, but not a twin tail
I'd love to see this in an 8.0. I'd buy it right away.
I am very stoked for this and I hope they continue making the shape of his old skate board. I have been riding the flight version of it and I love it.
It sells so well they'd be insane not to.
I’ve never road one of Andy’s boards, but they remind me of the boards from the mid 90’s that we road then. And I think it’s cool how much time he spends knowing his board
More of these style videos please! So nice to walk around with y'all and see some skate culture and personality.
As a kid, I didn't know that boards had a nose and tail and I skated until I was in middle school. I thought they were always symmetrical until I picked up skating again in college and I bought a new board and noticed the nose was longer. Then I looked for a symmetrical board and couldn't find one. McNugget's Pro shape from Braille is also symmetrical, and I've been thinking about trying that too. But Paul Shmidt explained how a heavier nose helps to level out ollie's and can allow for a bit more versatility if you need a little extra pop for a trick - just pop off the nose instead.
This style of video is so fascinating, would love to see a series of interviews with all the homies
9:25 so basically his mold was built for a different wheelbase so with his new wheelbase he has less fingers of flat which makes the pop angle higher. its like switching from aces to thunders with risers
I know that thunders change your popping point from ace but is it as drastic as this? And yea plus the football taper and twin tail shape
Would this be good with standard indy trucks? With or without risers?
@@DanCorrigan not sure the exact difference of popping angle from the two truck companies but I know that thunders make the pop feel more steep. it doesn't just adjust the angle in which it hits the ground.
theres a reason why thunders aren't high trucks if you think about it, or why people who do ride thunders with risers prefer them on flatter boards.
@@h8h81 yeah because mini logo trucks have a shorter wheelbase and so do indy's. i would say indy's no risers. mini logo trucks are also low thats why he rides risers.
@@_Maxten Mini Logo trucks have a wheelbase similar to Ace classics, which is shorter than both Indy cast and Indy forged.
I already ordered it. I did it in the middle of 5 o'clock traffic lol
Its a funny considering passerby's reactions and how they don't realize Andy is Olympian. I really like the idea of twin boards and will pick this up when its time for new board.
My two favorite boards are the 8.5 Ishod twin tail, and the Andy Anderson 9.1 flight deck. This is a no brainer for me. 👏🏼 👏🏼
Board and the shape of a current project board to displayed the design of a different modern style from the old design of the tail
Absolutely
😂 English please
@@rescuepope This is English!?
I really hope there is gonna be a 7ply in the near future. Shape and size looks perfect!
O word
Most expensive board I've ever bought! Not in stores in Norway yet, so I had to order one. Looking forward to trying it out!
Yes Dan and Andy talking about skateboards
CorrigAndy content is just the best skate content on youtube.
Really good video. Love how tech skateboarding is getting. Surfers have been playing around with dimensions for sooo long… can’t wait to see what skating becomes as we all start breaking things down and trying to take it to the next level !!!!
I also like the idea of avoiding tricks to progress my skating in a specific direction but honestly it's something that older skaters should do more than younger skaters. When you have the youth and ability, be well rounded. As you get older and lose ability it makes sense to narrow your focus to what you enjoy most and continue to have the ability to do.
This is a real skateboarding channel. Just thank ya bro bro
Just got this deck with his new 56mm 93a dragons! I'm so excited for the weather to dry up so I can skate it! Now I have all of Andy's flight decks! I have the 8.45, the 9.13 and the 8.7!!
Me watching a video w Andy: He explains something at 2:55 and demonstrates... BLOWS MY MIND, and I have to rewind and watch it 5 times to see wth he did, lol.
Bro, Andy straight up copied my board shape👏💯 been skating a short shape street/freestyle hybrid. Same length nose and tail 8.37 width Ricta clouds 86 duros flipped backwards for rails/primos
Andy is a skateboarding genius. And so inspiring. I cant wait to see how much more he innovates boards as well as wheels. I dont have one of his decks yet but i got his wheels and there bangers
Oh geez what mad genius shit he come up with now!?
The amount of thought he put into his Deck, and R&D... I don't think ANYBODY has EVER done that in the history of skateboarding. To me this was MASSIVE!
Looking forward to seeing how messed up trucks get on twin shapes - grooves everywhere!
They just end up looking the same, because you don't just grind the same spot the whole time. It's good too when you swap out a deck because you don't care which ones front and back haha
Thanks. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
I got the board and i really enjoy it alot, already improved my kickflips and 180's. love how it feels primo even more than the 1st board. it rides amazing as well it almost feels like your riding a crusier board till you go to do tricks.
how did you set it up? trucks and wheels?
@@Pseudosurfer 8.5 trucks I have the thunders I don't really like them that much though. and the green dragon wheels which I really like alot.
@@zachemorgan thanks mate, enjoy
I love Andy Anderson! I could listen to this guy talk about anything! - example: "Hi, I'm Andy Anderson and today I am going to talk about paperclips." hahaha, I'd still watch!!!!
Intresting about the the dragon wheels 1991 while I was on top of my skateboard career I choose Ratbones 93A they was amazing , my powell peralta skateboard hyrogypics was stolen 1994, and I needed to buy a new one , there were no powell peralta nor ratbones wheels to buy anymore here in Sweden , Bought some strange board with a huge nose and a lot narrower and with some micro sized wheels that almost didnt roll, It was like losing a bit of my soul. yesterday i got a 10" reissue powell peralta with independent 169 on the post from the US. My soul is back Thanks Powell Peralta will be forever grateful bringing the joy back in life! Only problem is my damn age now but some pool riding can be done;)
My first board was a Rob Roskopp twin kick "eye 2" Santa Cruz 1990. Been lookimg for that shape or a reissue ever since. I also had a Templton TV 'triclop" slick 1993 I'd like to own again.
I love this Andy Anderson fan channel! The AA content has been 🔥 lately though actually
September 19th is my birthday! This was a special treat watching Andy talk about shaping boards! Thanks Dan!! You’re the man! Shred4Life
I love this guy. Designs the most revolutionary deck in decades. Couple years later says, wait, this one is better.
5:19 yeah i started to skate an old school deck after i saw chris hiett skates one and yeah learning tre flips was a super tricky process
Hmmm I thought I wouldn't be convinced but I might actually have to buy this now... Lol but only if it has a size under 8.5 and a different graphic. The mirrored skull is fun and all, don't get me wrong, but just not my thing. I dunno if the color was different it would be alright.
Great board explanation, dudes! Looking forward to see you at the World Roundup next year. Keep on rocking, amigo! Best regards from Guenter Mokulys, too✌️
Will the new one sell as much? The first was so unique, it brought together years of Skateboarding!...and a lot of "old skaters" had it. I didn't really like the previous shape but I might get the new one. Just because I'm too lazy to look for my nose and I like squarer tails...
Love the new board. I remember back when valleley 2 tale came out. It sold OUT. I'm 46 years young and yes I'm buying the new Andy Anderson board. Love it before I've even held it. Lol 😆
So… what dimensions of trucks and wheels would Andy recommend on this board? I’m confused because of the egg shape, and at what wheels Andy uses for rail stand tricks. Can’t handle how he discussed his board for 30 minutes, and said almost nothing about what to set it up on. 😅
Thank you for what you do and everything you have done and your contribution to skateboarding and engineering and UA-cam.
This video is worth the-weight-of-the-server-it-lives-on in gold.
Absolutely love it when you and Andy get together. It’s like watching 2 geniuses trying to take over the world.
Watching both of you guys is what got me started in skateboarding at the young age of 37 and hearing you guys discuss everything helps me learn faster.
Keep up the amazing work guys.
Dude I'm right here with ya, starting at 35💪
same here, i'm 34, and i just started skateboarding few days ago , its been a hella hard, but i'll never give up . what did you found the most hard around our age?. for me; building muscle, keeping steady postures/balancing , and at the same times learning to fall safely . injuries at our age need a more time to recover
@@bandotzzZ mate I've got kids and a full time physical job so the time I get to skate is literally attempting pop shuvs and ollies at work after my shift and the occasional push around. I'm just trying to stay on the thing.
I love popping into the local shop with my boy though, loving the sense of community.
But yeah falling on knees and elbows sucks at 35.
I've fallen off road bikes plenty so used to scrapes but the blunt impact and fear that comes from it is tough
I got the Chris McNugg symmetrical board recently set up as my smaller park board and I love not thinking about my direction. The rails are straight on that one though
Twin football shape, wide with short wheel base. That's my fav, can't buy it so I have to shape it myself. Sometimes I venture out but I always feel at home again when I come back to it.
Edit: with small hard wheels 😁
Andy’s rocking some new shoes
Thank you Andy! I'm new to skating - almost a year now, and I have never understood why the truck placement isn't symmetrical
trucks?
@@lil-dexxy6475 i mean where they're placed on the board. It seems crazy that this isn't they way decks were made from the get go. Though - listening to them talk about the difference between twins and popsicles - I get lost. All I know is my boards definitely have a front and a back and it seems irrelevant and confusing.
the stairs at the school had a PBS type of vibe. Good documentary on the shape of Andy Anderson 😎
Same with me. I am very nocturnal and I love the moon and stars and the universe in general.
Andy with a merkules shirt! Dope canadian rapper. Im not super big into rap but i do respect and like good lyricists. Anyway dope video and im digging his new board!
Im a weirdo I use my nose for fs flips and everything fakie, and everyything switch which is common, I guess, I wish I could push switch if I could be awarded something by the skate gods.Dan I love your skating the flow and weird difficult bag of tricks you have, the nice carvy wobble its inspiring. Request slappy fs bluntlslide a ledge 12 inches or more.
Ive been riding the OG Anderson board since spring time and its the best board I've rode, .I can't wait to get my paws on the new model. Another awesome video.
At 4:50 he starts describing polar moment of inertia. Smart dude. Comprehends things that he wasn’t necessarily educated in.
the most creative and unique skater ive seen since Rodney Mullen and Mike V
I love that Andy listens to Merkules!!!
Rad
Thanks a lot guys !!! Greetings from Athens Greece !!!
Always love your videos dan! Keep it up, waiting for more keen ramp tutorials from you
Reminds me a lot of the barn yard board, but the way they were born is so similar yet so different.
Such amazing dialogue
Yes dude and got the merkules shirt on showing us his roots
they need to make dragonwheel bowling balls, he mentioned its a replacement for urethane and urethane bowling balls have been blowing up
Dan I love the different format of this vid !!!just perfect chill for my day off 😭
I honestly hate loose trucks when it comes to tricks since I do freestyle skateboarding. so i have mine like rock sold so I’m stable and I usually do tic tacing to start rolling & pivot turns instead of carving. (Because I sometimes do rolling freestyle tricks but mainly stationary) But also i’m just like rock hard solid trucks.
Friggin' love anything with Andy speaking about his thought process on things.
I don't even skate lol
Much better than the launch video that was sandwiched into the other footage!!! Loving the Dan and Andy content. Dandy? Idk, love y’all
Hate to say it this way but all this means is the circle is complete , it all came back around to the original Vision double tail board from the 90s.
Can we get those extra wheels in Tupperware containers from Andy? I need some wheels for sure!
The merkules shirt makes me love andy even more🔥🔥🔥
Andy Anderson knows the deal about alot of shit. Great video man. 🙏
Liked the interview format, super casual! Nice work you guys.
Andy is out of this world. he's a skateboarding genius. very very few have explained the deck as he has. I think the other guy may have been Rodney Mullen.
I really liked the shape of the old deck but I thought about the issue of not being able to skate both sides as I wear down my tail very fast it I only skate the tail so I might get this new deck shape as it seems like it improves the issue I had with the old shape.
I've been scouting the Powell website to find whose board Andy was skating
Makes more sense he created it haha
Excited to try it, looks like the perfect shape for me!
I just ordered the board today, I'm sooooo hype. Can't wait to skate it!!!!
2:06 Hi to the guy in the background :D Love the video and interesting to hear about the new shape and why he did that shape
got mine today can't wait to skate it
Just hopped on Skateone and copped one of his new boards. There was only 4 left in stock. Prolly won’t use it anytime soon but it’ll be dope to have. Y’all some real ones!
They are sold out!

Big up for the Merkules t shirt. Canadian Hip Hop legend right there
good to see that there are excelent skateboarders out there who still want to push the envelope of sb hardware. As long as sb is alive it should evolve and move forward and so should do the equipment being used.
