Notice how Jerome always mouths a few extra words after each sentence when he’s doing his samurai impression. Makes it look like a bad dubbing. Dude’s so committed to the role, I love it! X3
That scene was PURE GENIUS, I love it to bits, that's The Joker to a T, and bro, when he said the samurai shit, that he did the extra dubbed mouth was amazing, I love Jerome so much
thank you for catching that small dubbed part lmao i saw that and I was just like please telll me someone got that lol! jerome is a fucking outstanding joker
bggc71196 If you've ever watched an English dubbed, Chinese-made martial arts movie, the dubbing never lines up with the mouth movements. As such, there will be times where the character's mouth is still moving, but the dubbed line is already done being spoken. That's what Jerome was imitating before he pulled out the chainsaw.
1:35 you can actually tell that Jerome looks down at the gun at an angle that'd allow him to actually see if the bullet was chambered or not. Even if he couldn't see the bullet, he could make 2 assumptions: Either the bullet is in the barrel for the 1st shot, or he can count roughly how many empty chambers are on his side of the gun that are empty (and know how many safe pulls he'd have). You can actually see him glace at the gun twice, while the other guy doesn't, and then he purposefully offers the other person to take the first turn. So best case the guy kills himself, or Jerome can take the gun (knowing how many "safe" pulls he has) and keep pulling the trigger. Plus he'd also have the chance to glance down at the chambers when the gun was pointed at him initially, so he has 3 different opportunities alone to tip the odds in his favour. Which would fit his character being crazy...yet dangerously smart.
That is a good observation, People get caught up in the crazy, they forget that he's the Right Brain of the Valeska Twins aka Joker, just as smart just wired differently
'Lady first' made me think that he is scared to do it first - like greenwood thought. But really, he was giving the highest chance of survival to greenwood..
Wrong it’s all a plot almost a strategy the gun has a certain amount of bullets he lets the guy shoot 1 he shots 3 then the last one is Furshure the bullet he kills him that’s why the guy grabs the gun there’s no point he knew there was only one more bullet left
@@weknowthetruth6070 It's actually not wrong at all. If he was only doing what you implied he was, why not go first, then shoot all 4 into himself without giving the gun to Greenwood at all? He was doing both what you mentioned AND giving Greenwood the highest probability of survival.
The thing about joker is he laughs in the face of DEATH has no care in the world if he lives or dies. When people talk about insane Joker is the deffanition.
I dont think joker would honestly do this, he has a narcissistic behavior and he has been afraid of dying in the comics, especially when at the hands of a nobody. If joker is going out, he wants it to be glorious and done by someone that would make him immortalized by the action. Joker is extremely intelligent. If he did this then I'd assume he sleight of handed the bullet out of the gun, or was able to track where the bullet in the gun was and how many shots would be blanks. Though a much more Joker move would be taking the gun and shooting the guy with the sword.
This is the perfect scene in a very imperfect series. I would love to break down this scene because everything that Jerome does is very Joker like (the multiple times he glances at the gun, looking for the loaded chamber) and leaving the guy a 50/50 chance.
@@mrlordvenom6664 Don’t get me wrong I love health ledgers joker, but I don’t understand why everyone has to compare him to other portrayals? Like it’s obvious that this Joker is nothing like health’s, and it’s obvious Joaquin phoenixes joker is different.
When I saw this scene for the first time, I actually cried from laughter during the samurai scene when Jerome clashed a chainsaw with the sword. I mean, come on, that’s just downright hilarious. But when it got to the point where Jerome started playing Russian Roulette, that’s when things went from comedic, to downright terrifying. The simple fact that Jerome wasn’t afraid to die, and fired off three empty shots of the gun, I literally thought he was going to get the short straw and blow his brains out. And clearly Azrael thought the same, given how many times he was moving out of the way so that he didn’t get any brains or blood on that nice suit of his. Seriously, how many suits does that guy have?

Jerome saw multiple times that the casing was in the last chamber.. He even said “whats the secret to good comedy, timing”.. Thats cheating to eat the next 3 empties to yourself and force the last shot for the other guy being the hot one, but he saw the other guy wasn’t paying attention and took full advantage of the intensity of the game with his speech. Doesn’t take anything away from the scene, still such a Joker move.. Just don’t think he didn’t know for a second that he was absolutely not going to die lol
I tend to agree, it is highly likely that Jerome knew perfectly what he was doing here and if I'm right, it is all Greenwoods fault. I believe Greenwoods mistake was pointing the gun at Jerome for as long as he did, before taking his first turn. I'm not really at home with guns so I might be mistaken but I believe that from the front of the cilinder, Jerome could see what chambers were empty, so when Greenwood took his shot, Jerome had already a pretty good idea that the either the bullet would be in the first chamber, which would kill Greenwood or wouldn't be in the immediate next chambers. And when it was his turn, what looked like some showmanship, he was again just checking where bullet was, making sure that he would see it in a blink of an eye, while distracting his opponent, preventing him from doing the same the few times he might have a look himself. With speech and theatrics he managed to play Greenwood as a fiddle and I think this was the third reason why Galavan picked Jerome. The dude was fearless and theatrical, but also highly calculated and cunning. Greenwood probably never caught on how Jerome did it, but Theo likely knew and was just wondering of his pawn was as good as he appeared to be.
