Terrific video, but whoever drew the line of latitude for Oregon was clearly sampling too much of the Pinot -- the Willamette Valley shares a latitude with Bordeaux not Stockholm. Cheers!
Hi! Thank you for taking the time to comment and for watching so closely! What a great eye you have. I have watched the video so many times and clearly missed that mistake. THANK YOU! Monique:)
I was just watching the video for the first time and had to stop it at that point and check the comments. sure enough this was at the top of the comments. wow, not sure how that error was made!
Absolutely brilliant video. Living in Switzerland I am quite spoiled by having easy access to my favourite regions in France and Italy. But I could really also listen to you instead! Monique, the way you present your passion for wine is so amiable, if I may say. First time I had the chance to follow Ian Cauble. Humble and convincing in the same time. He has class. This video made me subscribing and I will recommend it to all members of my wine community.
This guy is awesome. Easy to say "what BS" if you don't understand it; and I'll never understand it on his level, but if you pay attention, what he's saying actually does increase your enjoyment of wine.
wonderful video! I recently visited the willamette valley and decidedly, the oregon pinots (archery summit, domaine serene, rex hill, etc.) were outstanding... many cheers to you =)
The graphic that compares Oregon latitude to... Sweden? WTF? Oregon pinot country is at a similar latitude to Lyon, France. Sweden is SIGNIFICANTLY more north.
Great video! I do personally prefer Willamette Valley to Burgundy and not only because of price/value,. Case in point, I'll take Domaine Drouhin over Joseph Drouhin. But I acknowledge taste is very personal (I've loved some 85 pointers and hated some 95 pointers.)
Hi Les! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! We agree wine is very personal! That's why we love it so much. We would love to hear some of your favorite producers! Cheers! Monique :)
I am a somm (albeit not a master) but no one is blinding producers unless its something obvious. The rest isn't impossible but it took me, Ian, years but getting good at blinding is doable. Way easier if you work in the business and can taste tons and tons of wine but what's more important isn't volume but paying attention and looking everything up.
Thank you for listening so carefully! Our photog experienced some mic issues that I wasn't made aware of until after the shoot. I really appreciate your feedback and happy to hear your referrals. monique@wineoh.tv Thanks again!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I appreciate your feedback. Our videographer had some audio tech issues which was a real bummer for sure. Thank you for watching!!!
So he mentions these unusual countries for Pinot - South Africa, Chile, Sweden, even Tasmania. Then he samples California, Oregon, and Burgundy. The most conventional choices possible.
Thank you so much for watching. I'm terrible at pronunciations. I even got kicked out of an entry level French class. I'll stick to drinking and producing content. Haha!
Hi Timothy, What a great point you make! I am certain it was amazing if my memory serves me. Sometimes when you are taping a segment you forget to stat the obvious! :) Thank you so much for watching. Love the feedback! Monique :)
Nice Video! It is always very grateful to enjoy a wine and especially when we are with the leading role model, so before having a sip of wine must know the wine aging. To check the quality & wine age get some tips from the expert at #WineTerroir.
@ 6 48 Yup, Stockholm used to be a center of Pinot production in the Roman Warm Period, but that ended some time ago. Sadly, even if global warming brings a return to a favorable climate, Sweden will be so Islamicized that country will be in no position to take advantage of the opportunity of again becoming the center of Pinot production. If only the Swedes had waited a little longer, they could have enjoyed the fruits of a Gallic invasion. That's Progressivism for ya'. So sad.
You are right! That's a terrible title. I'm sorry. I think someone gave me some bad advice when I posted this story 5 years ago. I appreciate you watching and commenting. Monique :)
The "best Pinots in the world" , really ! Two American and one French! Hardly any mention of Australia, and for those who are not sure, Tasmania is part of Australia. I was disappointed in this video as I was expecting a balanced review and insight into the best Pinots. Not even a mention of DRC.
Hi Larry, Thanks for watching. I appreciate your honest feedback. I probably could have said Three Pinots Ian Loves Right Now are something like that. This video is 6 years old so I can't recall why that was the title I went with at the time. Probably got some bad advice from some SEO folks. Haha!
The ratio of residual to new pour is so minute it's imperceptible to me. Maybe my taste buds and olfactory nerves aren't acute enough to be bothered. Just dump and shake ... next!
Fair enough point, I suppose- minus the palooka bit. But, I personally enjoy hearing the thoughts of those who have tasted many more wines than I have. I'd probably learn a lot from you too, but you don't seem very fun.
@@daveclinton4945 I'm calling this guy a palooka because he knows the rules that he's breaking. Blind is the only way to ensure the sense of fairness that must necessarily be passed down to neophytes.

More than anything ... it’s was a pleasure to see Ian Cauble going though the tasting grid ... great learning !!!
I like when an expert can explain things simply without pretension. Charming host, entertaining segment. :)
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. You just made my day! Monique :)
Agreed!

Would love if you featured some reasonably priced wines that can be found nation wide. I live in Chicago
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and to comment! Perhaps, we can take the show on the road to Chicago!!!!!!
this man worked hard for that master of somm! I just saw that video. his knowledge is best of the best!
So what was the best wine out of these three I asked because I happened to live in Oregon
It's hard for me to pick just one. But, Oregon Pinots are amazing! Thanks for watching and Happy New Year! Monique :)

This is a great video! My favorite Pinot Noir is from sonoma coast, kokomo winery. :) taste on!
Thank you so much for watching and for commenting Michael!!! We are big fans of Sonoma Coast Pinots around here too. Cheers!!!! Monique:)
go across the parking lot to Papapietro Perry for some excellent pinots....
It’s mind blowing that anybody would be able to tell the varietal, region, maker, year, etc lol.

I agree about American Pinot Noir. The best comes from the Willamette Valley Winery, in Turner/Salem.

It‘s Switzerland not Sweden! No Pinot made in Sweden, but terrific pinot noir made in Switzerland!

😍 love it!!!
Thank you so much!
Have had some great Pinots from Willamette, but they pale in comparison to Burgundy. Not even that close.
Thank you for watching!!
Yeah but the prices pale in comparison to Burgundy too. I go with Oregon for value.
This woman is a good sport. I like her. Also, give the wine to the friggin camera guy, don't dump it... jeez.
Thanks so much for watching! Not to worry the camera guy got plenty of wine off camera. Haha! Thanks again! Monique :)
Eating guacamole with your hand? Classy.

She reminds me of Leslie Knope
I'll take that as a compliment! Haha! Thanks for watching! Monique:)
Dont forget about Washington wine!!! Woodenville wine!!!
Oak oak oak. Let the grape do the talking
Agreed. If you like full-on oak, it's so much cheaper to spend all day at a lumber yard inhaling.

you want cheap wine nothing like california. i have not seen a wine bottle more than 300 dollars. but normally they have something for all.

He is trashing DRC very subtly in this video as their 13,000/bottle uses 100% new oak. Nice Jab Ian...but I bet you would not turn down a bottle...

The poured the wine into the same glasses without even rinsing it. Mixed the wines.
Did we? You've got a great eye! I need you on the Wine Oh TV team!!!!! Thanks for watching!
That's common. No big deal

@@blackdiamond51 And besides, it's all pinot/burgundy. Not like it followed a pour of Petite Syrah
What ever happened to blind tastings--ie without labels? Without, this demo is utter bullshit.
