One day we might get there. I’m slowly making a transition to reduce my external work load so I can spend more time working on the boat and producing more videos. It is coming!! 🙌🏽
Just to let you know Finn, how much I (and I am positive everyone else as well!) really enjoy (and appreciate) your videos and the great progress (with finesse) you always make. This from the early days of building your shed, which I have to say has got that great traditional boat and maritime feel in spades and not least a tradesman definitely in his "happy place". Hope you get out a few more times on your other "happy place" before the Autumn months (Storm Ciaran aside!) turn to winter. PS: Well done ECO-FLO for supporting our mate Finn - he is the real deal!
Thanks for the kind words Jack! It’s been a long road but with immense joy throughout and will continue to grow! There will be more day out I’m sure of it!
Thanks for the video Finn. That was nice of EcoFlow to donate such a great tool to you, it will serve your power needs well. Have a great day and see you next time.
Dean Finn, I love your videos, your not in the rush professional approach to prblems and using equipment in creative ways, puting up with the lack of all the equipment you might need. Great thanks to you, your videos always calm me down and make me appreciate little things. Best of luck and keep up the great job on Her.
Great to hear your kind words! My approach may be slow but I want to do it right! It’s a big job and a lot of learning but very much enjoyable! So nice to hear how my efforts make you feel that way! I’ll keep it up for sure 😉
Thank you for sharing this project with us.I look forward to each episode with much anticipation.Excellent work you’re doing on a very worthwhile restoration.
Great work Finn, the boat features are growing with each episode. Like the use of time lapse for some tasks, adds pace but no loss in understanding your steps forward. cheers til next vid release.
Thank very much! It’s quite a task and we are getting there will some much appreciated assistance at times! Made all the easier by greats friends and an amazing father! 👌🏻
Hi Finn. Great to see this project is still going strong! I had been into sailing for a long while before even the Tally Ho videos came along, but a combination of these projects inspired me to take the plunge and buy my own boat! It's turned into more of a project than I expected, so I didn't get to go sailing this year, but seeing these updates is one factor in keeping me motivated to put the work in! How did you find setting up the UA-cam side of things? I've kept a fair amount of footage of repairs, so have been considering doing something similar on my project, but so far the time commitment around a day job has been tricky! Looking forward to seeing you launch!
Hi Andrew, great to hear from you, and awesome to hear they have inspired you to follow you own dream. That’s what it’s all about! To be honest it was made much easier by spending time working on Tally Ho and discussing my new venture on Leo’s channel on my last visit back in 2019. Where I had obtained a substantial following before I even produced my first video. 4 years later and it is still a struggle to juggle a full time job, working on my boat and producing these video. As well as having a life also! But perseverance pays off in the end. We are getting there! And enjoying doing it makes the difference.
I have followed from the beginning and always great to see progress and skill in each episode - thanks Finn. By the way not always sure about your musical taste but always entertaining - good luck .
Thanks for the kind words! I’ve said it before, finding the music is one of the most challenging parts of the process! Not easy to find stuff that appeals to everyone
Hello Finn, found your channel only today. Good work altogether. I would scrape the hull bare inside and outside and soak it in epoxy resin before going over with a primer so as to protect it against corrosion. Solar panels would also be handy to have aswell as a 24V system and a dedicated 24V truck alternator. Looking forward to the videos coming. Cheers!
The inside was painted the a underwater primer and then spray foamed before I purchased her, so no need to scrape the inside. But the outside will be getting that treatment, do not worry!
Great Woodwork Finn!!! You do a really fine job with that part always!! Did you not need to use some Bedding compound around those Bolts you so carefully used? Water finds a way always. Regardless-your work is terrific!! Thanks for sharing. great Dogs too!! Cheers, Rich
I will indeed! Now they are fitted I will be using a long fairing batten to strike a fair curve on the inboard and outboard face to then shape and round of the edges indeed!
Bravo! Well done Finn, to camera delivery 100% better, you have a decent comparison in this vid between the intentional to camera delivery vs the incidental pieces, the incidental bits, you are clearly more focused on the lob so the delivery has a very dry tone compared to the prepared to camera pieces. Worth reviewing each vid for pointers, that Ashford (?) accent ain't gonna help, we of the cockney diaspora don't make public speakers!
Thank very much! I am getting more confident every time I do it. But it is still a challenge to have a conversation with myself in front of a camera at time. In time it will get easier I’m sure!
The Hull was build in 1984, and has been an ongoing build since but have never seen the water yet! This is my determination, it shouldn’t be took long before she gets splashed! Maybe 2 years 😉
you should put a shout out for editing help someone looking to get into editing fulltime, this will free up tons of time and you can start doing REGULAR videos, thats the way forward i think, you cant grow like you would like alone, maybe also a shout out for volunteers, the more people involved brings more interest to the channle, you cant carry on like this its going to take forever man,,good luck,, keep on keeping on my brother xx
There is nothing you can do to hide those ugly, ugly brackets securing the stanchions. They're not even properly located. For me, it was a poor decision to keep them, and one you'll regret for years to come.
Maybe once he is afloat he can slowly acquire grown knees and replace them….I agree they are unsightly….without Finn saying they may be a recognizable feature in that style of boat and he doesn’t want to remove them?
@@TheDigger76 It doesn't have stanchions, but thanks for asking. And you haven't seen any of my previous comments, which other than on this issue previously, have been universally supportive and positive.
I also dislike the the brackets but being a ferrocrete hull there is not much other option. As in the build of the hull as the Ferro gets to deck level there is a metal plate on top of the sheer line encapsulated in cement that the beam shelf is then bolted through, so traditional timber heads would not be an option. I’d love to hear your suggestions though as they may need changing in the future.
@@knotfinnishedyet9170 If you have to have brackets, then have bronze brackets which don't stick out athwartship, but which run fore-aft parallel to the line of the bulwarks. Doing this before making the bulwarks and capping rail would have allowed you to make your stanchions all the same size, rather than compensating for mis-placed brackets by varying the size of each stanchion... You could actually replace the stanchions like this, one by one, with the bulwarks and capping rail in place, albeit you'd have some fun joinery making the tenons into the capping rail.
Building a wooden boat is a marathon...don't get discouraged!! Been following almost since the beginning and see excellent carpentry. Keep it up!!
CHEERS from HERE!!!
Cheers from here too! 👌🏻
Finn good to know you are still cracking on. She's looking good 👍
Thanks 👍
Thank you Finn ,🥰👏👏👏👍🥃
My pleasure!
I have no idea why your channel has less than 100,000 subscribers, Finn. It is a super project with amazing skills on display.
It’s because he posts so infrequently
