Isn't it nice to have a nice flat deck to walk around on. Even if it is a small section of the project. It's just a good feeling. Looking great Scott. Keep it up.
Looking good, I love your attention to detail. Thanks for explaining the measuring game I was taught about that in about 1971 by a 60-year-old finish Carpenter that worked for my father. Keep going this is an amazing project, thank you for including us.
That was definitely some good looking help you had there. I'm not sure, but I think I saw her smile like she was having a good time. You may be buying her a set of tools before long. Thank you for the update. The framing of the pilot house sole looks very nice. Good work. Take care, stay well and have a great week ahead.
Measurements :I am so glad we have the decimal system.meauring in inches is so complicated !!!....anyway you doing great on the building of the boat....gereetings from belguim
Man... this guy is good! Makes you wonder about the guys who built the big wooden boats like the Vikings or the Spanish... man, this must have been hellish work!
I really enjoyed this episode. Thanks. Lots of building, good narration where needed and time lapse on long winded parts. You are getting good at this. I also like your can do, learn as you go, know your shortcomings attitude. You can build your second one in half the time 😂
That was some great work and an entertaining video. I felt a vicarious sense of satisfaction every time a piece was put into place. Once again, great work, thank you.
Any project is only as strong as it's weakest link. But what happens when there are no weak links? That sole is absolutely bullet proof my friend. Another great video.
Uhm...wow. That's a lot of work for the PH sole! Good job! After watching this I am glad I built in Steel ;). Also I put my PH sole in as soon as the two bulkheads and frame within the PH so that the sole LOCKED those frames square. Then could use those as a reference to square the rest of the frames , so i was surprised your just now putting this in. Thanks for sharing
G'day Scott,, This episode was one of the best so far... Aside from the Admiral doing her annual inspection , just seemed like lots of progress was made , with some great carpentry skills on show, resulting in a feast of dove tails and a tight ship . Nice one Scott ,its really taking shape now,,, errr now that her indoors has contributed ,, of course . Quite the sence of humour too. Best wishes to you & the family for New Year Much Respect from Down Under
That fast set Thixo really has it's place. I like the regular for filet's and joinery but that fast set is real nice for glue ups and assembly. Lets hope for a great year of progress for all!
You're guest star (The Admiral) surely classed up this episode! Also, I felt your pain when fitting in the plywood sole. Perhaps the sliding tang on the tape gotcha??? Cheers!
I've just spread some leftover epoxy on a patch for fairing later and it to 3 days to fully cure in daytime temps of 7 degrees C. Good advice on measuring. Loved the joinery, The Admiral looks very capable , to the point that I wonder if she hasn't done a bit of wood butchering herself over the years..... Happy new year.
Most of the Totalboat epoxy products seem to need about 55 degrees F to cure reasonably quickly. However I've read varying opinions on how low temperature curing can affect strength of the cured epoxy. Given enough time, all properly mixed epoxy will cure but it seems likely that low temperature curing does impact strength. I wouldn't worry about it for fairing or filets but just my 2 cents. And my girl knows how to handle herself on the job site no doubt.
this boat is going to be AWESOME! Defiantly has a place in between acorn to arabella and tally ho! would be cool to see them all together when they are finished!
I am bummed that I am all caught up. Love your channel. Are you going to insulate in between the planking and inside walls. It might be handy when you're in the tropics.
The wife made me think, your hairy faced and improbably excited hair colleagues seem to have army's of helpers. How come your Billy no mates? Oh, and loving the production values, cut aways, time laps multi camera , and editing 👍
man what an ambitious project. I toss around the idea of building a boat once in awhile. Wish I was your neighbor! BTW, have you got an engine yet? what will it be?
Just watching a "Salt and Tar " video and am noticing similarities in your boat framing and tthe boat they built.Perhaps you are aware of this? Looks great!
Don't know what cops get paid, but always heard they were almost as underpaid as teachers. Just wondering how you fit this into your budget if you're retired already, at a relatively early age? Must have made some great investments or "The Admiral" makes good money. Anyway, nice bit of progress in this video. Good to have a closable section to work in for warming a room that needs epoxy work done in it. Thanks to the Admiral for her help and funny comment. Hope to see more of her in future videos, even before the duck hits the water. Happy New Year to both of you and all my fellow viewers.
“ The joinery was a little complicated for a person like me”. Dude, you’re building a sea-going vessel in your backyard. Cut yourself some slack. Lol. Great video, thanks!
@@graham6229 pronounced “dood”. From the old American west. A term still in use today to describe cowboys. It’s where the name “Dude ranch” comes from. no specific details on sole framing are indicated for the pilot house. That's true in a lot of the parts of boat plans. dimensions and requirements are indicated but specifics are often left to the builder.
Isn't it nice to have a nice flat deck to walk around on. Even if it is a small section of the project. It's just a good feeling.
Looking great Scott. Keep it up.
Ha ha ha, "great Scott" made me think of Doc Brown from "Back to the Future".
exactly, it just feels good!
It's just fantastic to see the bride involved. Full dovetails are the bomb. The boat is looking great. Do it your way.
Nicely done. Great assistance from your wife, “The Admiral “. Happy New Year
Awesome wife there and the wood joints looked pretty good too
This is kinda fun to watch. It looks like you do careful work. Its a big project.
Keep up the great work
Always good to see the better half getting involved
I gotta admit, favorite video yet. Really enjoy your work. Thanks!
Really good video, liked how you did the structure over your ER. Also , the attractive lady helping you did a great job!!
I love the way Joiners minds work. I learn so much by watching.
check out Japanese joinery, amazing stuff.
@@SixPointsWoodWorks Yeah. I will check it out. Thanx.

You’ve come a long way from first building the frames for the shed! Congratulations Skipper!
Great video Scott you’re doing a really good job, she’ll be something to be proud of, keep up the good work.
That is going to be a real addition to your lives. The workmanship is very very fine. It just shows how talented you are. Well done.
Thanks Graham, it was a fun part of the project.

Leo would be proud. That is some fine woodwork. Great Video.
I love watching his joinery and chisel work, he's a very talented guy.

It was a joy to watch you assemble this part of the boat build. Your woodworking skills really show through. Great work and thanks for the video!
Congratulations, the sole is looking great.
You should invite the Admiral on board way more often. She adds beauty to your channel. That is always a good thing.
I think that's an excellent idea!
Always appreciate the attention to detail. Keep up the hard work.
FantStic job looks amazing so far
Been watching this build for a while now, always happy to see progress on the boat!!!
Great progress. That’s a fine looking vessel in the introduction to this video something to aspire to. 👍
I've been watching you build your boat for over a year now and it's coming along well I think can't wait to see you put it in the water
Always enjoy your videos. 😊 thanks.

That is some really nice joinery work on that framing. I don't know how I would have done it but I like your solution.
It doesn't matter what the book says, stick with what you know well and the result will be the same. Good job.

Another great episode Sgt. Happy new year.
I'm thinking you have made an excellent choice for an Admiral on those long lonely cruises.
Well, make that even for those "quickie" cruises. LOL.
Glad to see that you aren't using the radial arm for rips. The kickback can be deadly.
I understand the concept of sanctuary, but the Admiral is an underused resource.

I see you have your whole lineup of red power tools nice are they sponsoring you or what or are you just finding them to be awesome?
I always invite my wife into the shop, even if she isn't helping, just to pretty up the place. She's been doing that for over 48 years.

Look at the Sampson boat co to see how to add tapered joints in the sole beams
To be fair, Leo at Tally Ho is a very fine craftsman boat builder of many years standing. But we can all learn I guess

I got the same tape measure tht yr using the Milwaukee I loved it at first then the tip broke off after about a month if that
really brave running old wood with possible nails thru expensive blades
shouldn't the access area cross supports have a stop shoulder instead of a continuous taper?
