I played Vanguard on PS2 before Airborne due to lacking a current-gen console or a capable PC at the time. Really enjoyed it despite it not being too remarkable. At the time the inclusion of ragdolls was something I wasn't used to seeing on the PS2, and it looked visually nice on a technical level despite not having an impressive color palette/art direction.
Some good memories with this one! I remember one night, 4th of July before I started my Freshman year of high school, I stayed up all night playing this and beat it just as the sun was coming up the next morning. That ending battle with the snipers was tense, and hard! The game really got a difficulty boost at the end. Vanguard, Frontline, European Assault, and Airborne were the shit back in the day!
Vanguard felt like the a last minute throw together game to play as the "last gen" version of Airborne. According to a few sites EA initially wanted Airborne on both current and next gen consoles but gave up early on on the former so they threw this together from assets of the previous two games along with the air drop mechanic and upgrades from Airborne and called it a day
Once the controls are dialed in vanguard on wii is actually the best console shooter Ive experienced. It has variable lean across two planes of movement!!!
The same thing that happened to the Army Men games, damn near almost happened to Call Of Duty, and a couple of other franchises I know of. When will they learn? Quality over quantity.
I loved this game so much, a bought it when i was in the 5th grade. I had no memory card n i had to restart over n over again😂 i finished it after million attempts. Sweet memories 😂❤
One of the few WW2 games that featured the Italians as the enemy albeit without their signature weapons. Not bad but not that good either, still a nostalgia-generating piece for those that played it back in late 2000s.
Just an update, but thanks to you & your well crafted reviews on "Medal of Honor Vanguard" & "Cold Winter" I just finally obtained ultra clean & complete copies of both games for my PS2 collection, thanks again my friend! :^)
I've just completed it. It only took me 5 hours of this afternoon. It was a bit disapointing how short it was. Also it was very easy, I only died twice in the first Germany mission... Compared to European Assault, wich was the most dificult of the saga... I spent more time in one mission than in the whole Vanguard. I am also impressed by the short number of weapons compared to others MOH... I am not saying it's a bad game, in fact I enjoyed it. But it felt so short and empty... Like if it was a expansion of another MOH... I'm glad to have it in my colection
The only issue I had with this game was its length: way too short for what I paid for it at launch. The last mission in Germany was what the rest of the game should’ve been
i love ps2 fps games its so nostalgic i did buy a lot of ps2 fps games and im trying to complete all these games before summer i got medal of honor vanguard medal of honor rising sun commando strike force call of duty finest hour call of duty 2 big red one call of duty world at war final fronts urban chaos secret service delta force black hawk down team sabre black 2006 cold winter brothers in arms earned in blood
Vanguard is pretty much the poor mans version of Airborne not to hate on it by any means. If you didn’t have a PS3 then this was your airborne which might be what they were going for. It’s a good game for what it is.
Just like what I said about the first _Heroes_ , this game feels more like a watered-down expansion than a full game. I agree with you. This game could have benefited from more development time.
Recently played Vanguard and it was fine. Up until the very last Campaign mission. Jesus christ, u spawn infront of 3 MG42 all spamming at you. If u don't find cover within 2 seconds it's a death. Found that mission to be so drawn out and boring. Other than that pretty solid game, but it's trying to be like CoD and that's just sad. Ultimatly what killed the serie I belive.
I honestly loved vanguard because it and LEGO Star Wars 2 were the first games I got for the PS2 after my parents got it for me. I have a lot of nostalgia with this game
just finished the game for the first time.....jesus christ it is not good!the whole soundtrack is copied from Frontline, hit detection on enemies is not good also they are those bullet sponges, blow this door and take out mg42 is the theme of the game
I played this for countless hours on PS2, it was very ground breaking for PS2 honestly. Compare it to call of duty finest hour 2 or 3 and it stands out for sure. Although I think call of duty had the better story this had great gameplay for the time
This is a ps2 game....Crysis was a bleeding edge pc game. Call of Duty 4 was a PS3 and Xbox 360 game. Half Life 2 also was not 2007. It was like 2004, but it was also a technically advanced pc game at the time. But this is a duckinG PS2 GAME
Say what you want about how unoriginal "Call of Duty" is. At least its never as shoddy or unpolished as some of the shovelware we got from "Medal of Honor".
The original “where we dropping boys”

Vanguard was always my favourite, I loved the game and soundtrack and remember it so well
A well thought out & detailed review my friend! I completely forgot about this "MOH" game, adding to my PS2 buy-list, thank you.

This channel brings back childhood memories and I love it 😂
I used to love this game, first time I've heard it's considered "bad".
Same, I thought it was a solid authentic shooter
IT IS TRASH!!!!!!
i played this game yesterday for the ps2 and its not that bad

Fun Fact:
The guy in the beginning narrating is the voice actor for Spiderman and Sasuke Uchiha
I think most game enthusiasts would recognise Yuri Lowenthal's voice by now.
@@innoclarke7435 I'd hope so
I fucking knew it was Yuri Lowenthal
You can switch from the upgraded garand or Thompson to the normal version using D-pads Left or Right
Try it!!!
Once the controls are dialed in vanguard on wii is actually the best console shooter Ive experienced. It has variable lean across two planes of movement!!!
You sir get a thumbs-up just for the sheer fact that you pronounced M1 Garand correctly
lol. You must be British

EA pumped out too many MOH games too quickly and killed the franchise. That and the modern games weren't well received. I do miss the series, though

3:32 i didn't expect this first upgrade of m1
Rushed game but still better then most of the trash that comes out now

Awesome news. Great games.
Despite the fuzzy environments from the distance, I am impressed how good this game looks on ps2. Does this game support progressive scan?
I think this one is the best. Really satisfying shooting, especially with the M1.
Airborne had a ps2 version but never got released

Very good review !
Will you do a rising sun Review ?
Can you review Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for PS2 and Xbox 360?
There are no differences between the two either than one obviously looking better
The only issue I had with this game was its length: way too short for what I paid for it at launch. The last mission in Germany was what the rest of the game should’ve been
Bruh these old ww2 ps2 games make me want to buy a ps2 lol
Amen .. I'll sell you mine for 399 plus a 50$ Warranty lol
@@jaycee6777 lol I actually bought one last year in December thanks for the offer however
I feel like this was just made for the purpose of having a airborne equivalent on last gen consoles
I don't know which medal of honor was this, but I remember hours of fun to be had showing your passport into people's faces.
Underground and Allied Assault. Possibly the first one but I don't remember.

Floaty. I think you might be trying to say the aiming is floaty
Yeah, that works, too.
Certainly looks it, from the footage you showed
Yeah, I wasn't in the mood to deal with it other improvements aside.
I hear you

This game is absolute trash. How can Call of Duty 4, Half-life 2, and Crysis released in the same year? This game looks like it was made in 2002.

Ironic considering that medal of honor allied assault is from 2002.
it’s
The best
Medal of Honor 2010 and Medal of Honor Warfighter are the best games in the franchise
Good choice on the ps2. The wii version is fucking terrible.
This one is terrible looking.
This was the first shooter I remember seeing so I'm gonna have bias towards it.

Medal of honor Vanguard on Ps2-is the Best .
