Daddy's been dead 28 years now. He put a .357 to his own temple on his 50th birthday Aug 8 1992 while sitting in his truck in his parents driveway. His mom was the first to find him. She screamed soo loud the neighbors on all sides heard her. Since it was a sat, it took the Coroner a good while to get there. Police covered the truck with a tarp. He was a Spec in the Army stationed at Fort Polk La during the Viet Nam war who helped train troops that went to VN. Drs said he suffered from GUILT. My God how I'd give ANYTHING to have him back!
So sad some of these my heart goes out to each and everyone of you, I too lost my dad and it hurts everyday living with the last and only memory I have of him laying in his own blood covered from head to toe, you see cancer took my daddy and I'll never forget that day, and I'll never will forget to stand in his blood barefooted it hurts and hurts knowing that when I do go visit his stone the memory played in my head to see our name on that headstone.
I love all these trucker songs why because they remind me of my dad and how he use to take my brother and I with him on a logging truck with him but it made our Mom so angry because she use to dress us up in very fine clothing just to go with our dad but everytime that happen my brother and I came home just with our britches on and that didn't worry our dad cause he use to say to us it's alright mom will just go buy us more clothes and after his truck accident we never got to ride in a logging truck again so this is my memory of riding in a truck so thank you and God bless all Truck drivers Amen

I miss my dad so much. I think about him in these trying times. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. I never said thank you and I wished I had. Always say I love you and cherish the stories. I love you Dad and thank you.
Red breaks my heart but I can't get enough. this song describes my daddy really well, although not super religious we learned tough love and respect. I raise my 3 kids a whole lot like my single daddy raised me.

John it's hard to honor one who has been very abusive to all us kids abd who cheated on our dad when he was driving an 18 WHEELER.
