Your channel feels just like watching a really well-produced cooking channel but I don't care what I eat so instead I watch how to make miniature wargame scenery.
It's the music. I swear he must get it from the same guy as Binging with Babish. :-P
”If you enjoyed the video, let me know”: YES.
”If you want more, let me know”:
YEZZSZSZZ.
The best channel for detailed terrain.
To prevent foam board bases from warping one good trick is to get the very thin (usually brown) wide parcel tape and apply this on the UNDERSIDE first. The tape is very resistant to tension and basically prevents the ends and sides from warping upwards.
B
That's a new one, thanks!! Do you remove the tape at any point?
Nooo! The tape remains on permanently in case of further warp-age. Your central heating might have a long term effect. If the PVC tape is too slippery on your table you could add a little masking tape as well.
B
Im looking at this for mini bases and I cant believe that its 5 years old, feels like yesterday
I dig your dry-brushing technique and textures throughout a composition. You add a lot of character and detail without sacrificing too much playable space as the DM. This one was lovely.
I would advise smaller bits for a modular graveyard. Make 4 or 5 parts that you can move around. It also helps with warping
If you search "miniature terrain" you'll see a bunch of 30min-1hr videos. I'm glad I found this channel with short and sweet tutorials.
Very cool set.... great job!
Rollie papers. Naughty boy!!
Glad you started back up!! I remember the frisbee build from a while back definitely. The last two months going steady earns you a subscribe. I would LOVE to see you make an old RV, Trailer, or Camper apocalypse camp-out sort of thing. I'm sure A LOT of people would agree! Great work. Cheers from Oregon.
Very cute & well done!
The biggest problem I find with terrain, is that everything still looks very flat and dark. This is fairly common in some of your builds and another UA-camr called Blackmagiccraft I think. It seems a lot of the paint work relies on a black undercoat and then JUST drybrushing on darker colours. I understand if you wanted to set in a nightime scene, but trees aren't a deep black-brown colour, and buildings aren't black-grey with splotches of green on the roofing, using grey drybrush to bring out any bumps. Similarly, too often buildings are coated in sand to give texture but this, due to scale, makes them look like they're covered in pebbles, rather than a fine gritted surface, and doesn't really blend too well. Once you use things like sand, stones etc, their scale is instantly heightened, and suddenly sand becomes rocks, and fish tank pebbles become large 1 foot wide stones when compared to actual scale.
It's important to remember neither Black Magic Craft or I arent going for realism, what were creating is implied detail and painting in intentionally stylised way. It's very hard to create accurate scale scenes from easy accessible materials and accessible budgets so we go for stylised instead. I think quick, dirty and accessible how how we enjoy making stuff too because we use them for fantasy wargaming and dungeons and dragons.
More recently I've tried to adopt more scale modelling techniques in my builds which adds a lot but at the end of the day if you want scale realism Luke Towan, Real Terrain Hobbies and Luke APS are the guys you want to watch.
A BRILLIANT SCALED DIORAMA!!! I don't play D&D or any role playing games, but this is FANTASTIC!
Thanks for all the hard work.
Fantastic build! Great techniques for making the daunting task of a roof into something seemingly enjoyable. Great edit quality and info! Can’t wait to see more!
Awesome as always Trent, your killing it my man! ;) Love the texturing effects and your templates are just getting better and better. Timing is unreal! Just finished my crypt commission!
This has been great series, thank you
So many good tips and ways to scratch build stuff, awesome!
Very nice! Would love to see more of similar bigger builds in your informative and very edited style. Keep it up!
Yesss great stuff as usual. Keep it up!
Ok just found your channel yesterday and I’ve finished watching all your videos. This is amazing stuff. I’m feeling inspired. I like to craft terrain but I always feel intimidated and don’t know where to start. I love seeing how your projects come together and you make it seem so easy. Im going to make some Ruins today using Eva foam. I’ve got piles of the stuff in my basement not being used! Keep it up. I love the “Casey Neistat” editing style, it adds a fresh look to the terrain building community.
Sir you are incredibly talented. Brilliant tips here for any hobby enthusiast!
Amazing!! Great craft & great editing. Will be using for my Warhammer craft list
Atmospheric and awesome!
Trent! I love your stuff. I wish you had more videos. Thanks!
Nice work , thank you.
awesome tutorial, glad I found this channel!
I love your videos! I don’t really do any of this stuff (yet) but I found your channel last year and I really want to give it a go!
Really good piece of terrain, well done!

This was great. Going to learn from you.
Amazing work!
I'm Stoned and drunked and i couldnr Stop loughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is pure magic!!!
Nice vid mate why haven't I found these sooner! Glad I have you've just saved me a cool fifty quid with this video! Now all I need is time to build...
Another great video, Trent. keep up the awesome work. You're really starting to garner a fanbase. Quality is recognized by the community.
Ryan Franks thankyou that means a lot. More coming soon!
Выглядит прекрасно
As usual.... great video.
Really enjoying your channel. You use some techniques i have not seen from others so i am learning a great deal.
Presentation style is also excellent.
Just great crafts in 6 minutes? Refreshing. Subscribed.
I finally got a use for all my Popsicle stick ends I've been hoarding, thank you :D
Awesome!
Very nice video!! you're the best!!!
Holy shit what? Amazing channel! 😍 I'm gonna do this as a weekend project
A crazy occult summoning type ring deal would be pretty swish, maybe an outdoor one with runes carved into great stone monoliths and a more ornate one with a pattern embedded into the floor and a crazy sacrificial altar with some blood on it.
I like your style!
Found your channel through a Reddit post. Instant subscribe! Love your work, thank you!
Love how sinister this small graveyard looks like. Almost looks like you took it straight out of "Diablo 2". So good!
wow, this channel is too good
Came from reddit post, Liking videos and subbing now these are amazing
Wow! that looks awesome man
Keep going, you can do it!
Love the video and would like to see many more from you.
Hell yeah! I want to make one of those!
I love it man! Great video! I would love to see you make pillars and other dungeon dressing
Awesome!
Just found this channel. Love it
Thats nasty and creepy..very atmospheric...lovely job...or horrible job !!!!
My suggestion is.. something a dragon could use! Not sure what exactly, but something where a dragon wouldn't look out of place would be cool!
This is awesome! Perfect for Mordheim.
That's what I made it for! Can't wait to test it out
You're fucking quality mate. Saw you on the Miniac video. Will definitely be getting some of these templates in the coming weeks.
Just found your channel through Reddit. This is awesome work, you've earned yourself a sub. Hope to put some of this to use in DnD campaigns.
Would you kindly make a video talking about where you get your foam core from? Love your tutorials! Thanks a lot!
I like the overall look to this. It has inspired me and I plan to create a graveyard in the next few days. Though mine will be slightly different as i will use granny grating to create a wrought iron fence. One thing this might be interesting would be to get a bunch of the youtube terrain creators to do a challenge building a Aztec piece. Maybe Miniac (whom you have worked with,) Black Magic Craft, Goobertown, Luke Aps, Wyloch, real terrain hobbies, Eric's hobby Workshop, and Bard's craft ... get Squidmar to judge the end result. Frankly, each of you have a different take on how you create terrain pieces and your process is fascinating and it would be amazing to see how each of you achieve the same goal, regardless of which Squidmar would say if the best!
I've been thinking of doing some terrain building for some time, this might be just what I needed, have subscribed, all the best Garry
Thanks Garry, I hope to see what you make!
Hey this is a really cool video, I'm excited about your channel, subbed for sure.
i really dig those walls, well done!
Cheers dude, I honestly think I'm addicted to making them, my new table will be pimped out with them for sure.
yeah, absolutely. I think it can be possible to use the same technique to make a tower or a castle, should be relatively quick and give a nice stony look
Yeah no doubt, I'll let you know how it goes after I cut the 10,000 bricks out that I'm going to need
Awesome
post apocalyptic hovels for survivors and mutants!
City streets! Gas station! Burned out homes! Campsites for adventurers! Medieval villains forts like goblins and ogres! Nonhuman temples for the orkiest of gods.
If you don’t have one, I would love a video and material gathering and generally what tools and things do I need to build along with any of the tutorials? I loved this graveyard for example but have never done anything like it so it feels intimidating. Thanks for creating such great content!
dude you rock as f* in your videos, keep it up bro!
The best terrain on UA-cam! AMAZING! I love it. I was wondering if you could make some eldar terrain?
the edgiest terrain channel on UA-cam
Nice 👍
Beautiful .... just got a new subscriber...
Cheers man!
fuck yes dude CANT WAIT TO MAKE THIS!! About to start a Soulblight Gravelord army, after my Genestealer cults which is almost done! So will fit perfectly for dat
Well I made a set of 3 mausoleums...they look pretty decent.
Awesome. Maybe it's time for you to go Patreon :)
Nice tutorial :)
moooooooooooore!
you're awesome
mate, I have taken a hiatus from this hobby for the past 15 years but after watching some of your vids, I went to bunnings and went yolo.
Would be awesome to see your style of terrain building of dwarven terrain.
Awesome, man! Another fantastic video! Exactly what I was hoping you'd make!! How about a cool, M.C. Escher type place for the next one? Could be pretty interesting, I bet!
Zack Williams I'm not sure if the world is ready for that
Miscast Terrain A soft pass on bringing Inception into ttrpgs?
Likeable
Awesome build yet again. lollipop sticks! How did I miss that. I'm going to be doing a graveyard next, you've inspired me. I'd like to know how you would do craters, tank traps and other simple obstacles. Looking forward to the next video
Jonathan Hardman I was thinking about doing a follow up to my walls and barricades tutorial covering things like tank tracks, barbed wire, sandbags ect. What do you think?
That sounds like a great idea. Barbed wire is easy to make. I use some thin wire, fold a length in half and then twist it into a double helix. Any wire will do and it gives a really good effect. For Sand bags you could use a putty or green stuff to sculpt them. There's a video of a guy in the UK who shows how to do sand bags in this way, and he can produce a lot at once. I'm interested to see what your next video would be like.
His channels called TheTerrainTutor. He's got lots of videos of building wargaming terrain. I find his videos very long and very detailed. Too long at times That's why I've taken to your channel. Short and to the point with great ideas and inspiration.
Well that means a lot, short videos with condensed content was what I thought was missing when I got back into the hobby, so I'm glad my content does that for you, that's been my #1 goal. Great techniques you've mentioned, hopefully I can bring something new to the table you might not have thought of or some alternatives to the techniques you're familiar with. Should be a fun video stay tuned!
Purchased!
Thanks a lot for supporting the channel!
Pretty cool I searched your channel for hell terrain. I'm doing a infernal crypts skirmish
Oops I missed it u did do some lava
i wanna see more mate
Is that foam from bunnings? What ive got is knauf brand, the same pale yellow colour. Mine is really not as good as what ive seen other youtubers use. When engraving it with a pen it tears instead of indents (like if i draw a line theres lots of tiny splits across the line) and very easily tears instead of cuts when using a knife. Idk if mine has gone bad or is a bad batch or if im doing it wrong or if i should just find something else... I see youtubers draw bricks on xps and texture it no problem and looks perfect and mine is almost useless for that.
Ad mech structures?
Would love to see some WW2 terrain!
Graveeeeeee
I wonder what size the Popsicle sticks are that he's using for this graveyard?
Hey mate, great channel, I can't believe it took me this long to find it. (Thank the Miniac). I've been using all the keywords that should've led me to your channel sooner. Just keep those vids coming. If you got any recommendations on best places to get hobby materials, tools, paints, minis etc here in Aus please let me know or maybe do a video on it. Cheers
Thanks you! More on the way! Im from a small town, so I buy a lot online and I buy from all sorts of places, but mostly random eBay sellers. For models and paint I don't really have any particular loyalty to any retailers, just whoever has what I want in stock when I google it.
If you're in Aus and looking for XPS foam, I found mine at Bunnings, you can ask to order it in if they don't stock it.
For foamboard I buy it at Kmart for $5 a sheet.
For 2 part epoxy I buy it bundles of 5 or 10 on eBay for bulk discount.
For everything else I just go to the dollar store, for cheap paint, brushes and super glue.
Hope that helps :)
Yeah cheers mate. I live in Sydney and still buy most of my stuff online. Didn't know Kmart had foamboard. Thanks :)
zarpado
Love the video and would also love it if you would try to make tyranid scenery because there isn't much official GW stuff.
I just bought the templates for 6,66 because I'm edgy as hell! Thanks for the tips! Love the channel!
Hell yeah! Thank you!
Woah woah woah woah, I may be late to the party by 2 years but if we're going to build a grave yard FIRST we need some bodies...
I'd love to see some admech/necromanda terrain
Okay deal, necromunda terrain comin' up!
I’m looking for some foam to build stuff but idk where I can get it for a reasonable price. Can someone give me a link please?
