I had to leave the video for a while to do something, and I forgot where I was in the video. I came back to a knight fighting snake men with spaghetti luigi in the background and Joel going "Yeea whoo". We really live in a society...
if you played Viewtiful Joe on the holiday 2004 demo of playstation underground, the demo had a glitch which wiped all memory cards plugged into your PS2
*Reasons why Joel needs to come to Brazil:* There's a lot of black markets with bootlegs and PS2 pirate games, specially GTA, FIFA and some other *quality stuff.*
Joel, I wanted to tell you I've been cheering myself up by watching your streams so much for the past half a year+ especially since I've been sick all that time, and I wanted to thank you. And something else... this is so mundane and silly, but I'm the person who made that gif of Luigi backwashing his spaghetti way back in the day, so when I saw you use it, it made my day. Made my week, even. You made it even funnier. Thank you. :) I hope you have a great 2019, Joel, and thank you for making the last half of my 2018 hilarious.
Truly a by-gone era. Never (say never) will the future generations know the pleasure of getting free discs in the mail that contained such loot like this. Little tidbits of video teasers, stripped code of coming games and whatever else could be thrown onto that little circle of plastic. That period of time when CD's could do a ton more then some VHS cassette that often advertised one single game and when the internet could allow one to download any game demos that were allowed to be transferred. After all, going to an e-shop to try demos just doesn't hold this experience. (Almost) Gone, just like getting gaming magazines in the post.
24:00 I had a heart attack. This game took up so much of my time! We had one of those horrible floppy knockoff mats that only worked if you broke your ankles stomping into it. Good times.
Joel, please please please give Ratchet & Clank a chance on stream. And Jak and Daxter. They are the best games on the PS2(in my humble opinion). Sly games are really good too, but i don't think that you are gonna like them as much as R&C and J&D.
still enjoy revisiting this stream after all these years, it's such a comfy watch for me I love all the obscure goodness in these demo discs, they were such an interestingly weird form of consuming gaming content before the internet was more easily capable of distributing everything these discs did. Specifically the old clan scoreboards from 6th gen early online gaming and the montage of PES replays lmao
Ah yes, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, which is exactly what happens when you give Prince of Persia to Shadow the Edgehog. Don't forget DooG as well, at 1:40:48!
I missed these demo disks so much, I had dozens of these. I'm not sure if the disks were the same for every region, but there was this one Ratchet and Clank demo I played the shit out of. Good times.
I remember one ps2 demo disc in particular that had a Japanese import demo of a fish man with a talking turtle dude and you had to try and jump out of the pond and I've NEVER been able to find the game since.
Hey Joel, First one hello from France After this, I just say : "Yes please, make on live (and on UA-cam), the Ratchet and Clank franchise." There is a HD bundle from the three first games from R&C on PS3. Just for saying, with the one game who came in 2015 (with the film), there is in all : 9 R&C games (all on PS3). But the best are the first trilogy. If you are curious, I have for you two french games who could are not really know out from France. Their name are : Asterix and Obelix XXL // Asterix and Obelix XXL 2 : Mission Las Vegum. These two games were created from the studio Etranges Libellules and edited by Atari. If the first is ''good'', the second game is a ''HOMMAGE'' to video game history. If you like easter eggs, then these two games are made for you Joel. You can find them on emulator (for example Romstation), but the two games were on PS2 and Computer (PC) ; these two are the best version of these two games and they are in English. If you are more curious as on the start of this comment, then just tap on google : "Asterix and Obelix XXL 2", and look at the cover of this game ; it explain all by itself. And my only wish would be that these two games would be better know from the videogame community, because they are awesome and it would be pity to see these two forgotten from all. So I hope I manage to present to you two games who you never heard about and if by chance you would be interrested to play these two games, I'm ready to donate a computer or PS2 copy from each one to you ; because after seeing this video I saw that the PS2 emulator is not actually at 100% good. And in hope that you read this message until the end of this comment, I apologize for my bad english ; french people and english are not really the best friends in school.
22:03 I think you're mentioning GT5 Prologue, apparently GT5 was in development hell and the prologue was basically like a demo to fill like a huge year gap between 4 and 5. If i recall, GT5 was released in 2010 and GT4 was in 2004/5 so yikes
I knew Dog's Life emulated poorly, but I forgot it was this bad. Would be fun to see Joel play it. The game is actually pretty fun, IMO. I know this video is old, but didn't Joel have an actual PS2 console at some point? I recall him using actual hardware on the PS2 madness streams. Using component cables instead of composite for video capture or viewing on modern screens makes a large difference for this console. Composite is ass on it. It looked better on the CRTs. Who the hell had a flat screen during the PS2's heyday?
2:05:30 Joel playing Time Crisis 3 made my year. I want to see Joel do a stream just for Rail Shooters. He mentioned he liked Time Crisis 2, that's a great one! He just needs to properly set up the Nuvee plugin for PCSX2 and he'd be all set.
I had a friend who had one of the Time Crisis games with a light gun. It was extremely cool, but I usually had to play with a controller as he only owned the one light gun.
I have SOOOOO many demo discs... i actually own a ps1 demo disc 1 which is rare? I don't know the valdility on that though since it was a friend that told me
I remember this specific game on a demo disk, it was dark and your riding on this Horse, I can't remember if your shooting someone on another horse or a massive demon chasing (too long ago to remember) and the next mission I think you was in the castle area where it was snowing and the guybwas dressed almost like van helsing from what I remember...cant think for the life of what it was but I just remember really enjoying it, definitely a ps2 demo, good ole days

i have one demo disc, issue 76 of playstation magazine. I have spent more time on that than 80% of PS2 games I have played
Who remembers that one holiday demo disc...?
That killed all your data
Got a free copy of Ratchet and Clank up your arsenal so it worked out in the end.
Even although i had a shitload of demos back in the day, i've never had this one devilish demo

29:30 Oh man, Unforgotten Realms, what a blast from the past. I loved it so much back then, still do now.

Joel, please please please give Ratchet & Clank a chance on stream.
And Jak and Daxter. They are the best games on the PS2(in my humble opinion).
Sly games are really good too, but i don't think that you are gonna like them as much as R&C and J&D.
I have been looking for a game that I first saw on a PS2 Demo disk for 8 years.
Eventually I will find it.
*Eventually.*
Something, Something, I Don't Care. Same here. Same here.
The Beef zone should be on DDR.
Thank you Joel you played a game which i forgot the name of and now i can emulate it and enjoy it once more.
still enjoy revisiting this stream after all these years, it's such a comfy watch for me
I love all the obscure goodness in these demo discs, they were such an interestingly weird form of consuming gaming content before the internet was more easily capable of distributing everything these discs did. You just woke so many memories up.. you made me cry from nostalgia.. thank you..
I've got a closet full of OPM2 demo disks and just hearing that intro tune took me back to like, 16 years ago, instantly...
Oh boy, oh boy. Moms spageht came early.
Ahh Dog's Life, so many old memories.
Sad Cena I can't see your profile picture
Dude, Demonstone is a great game. I rember playing it with my dad. So many memories.
2:42 Vinny called, he wants his corruptions back.
Who wants Joel to play Ratchet and Clank on stream some day?
Elven Insanity only if it is Deadlocked.
Play Rayman 1 too!
Yes,, I need something like that in my life.
Elven Insanity not me
2:11:33 also included in this Joel stream is a secret Monster Factory episode too!
I nearly had a heat attack when Gladius came up, that game was childhood and I still love it to this day. A hidden gem, truly.
Omg, Ratchet and Clank was my favorite game growing up!
So much nostalgia from these ♡
"So what Need for Speed game is this?"
ITS THE BEST ONE JOEL
1:55:55
"Now begone with you, sister! I am busy listening to the bards ballads through the tetherless ear trumpet around my neck."
The devs did a real good job animating that dog though, he walks and moves like a dog and does the whole head bobbing thing too.
Ah yes, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, which is exactly what happens when you give Prince of Persia to Shadow the Edgehog.

I'm not sure if the disks were the same for every region, but there was this one Ratchet and Clank demo I played the shit out of.
Good times.
Oh man, I'd love to see Joel stream Ratchet and Clank.
The people that made A Dog's Life also made Rollercoaster Tycoon and Planet Coaster.
Let that sink in for a little bit.
We should really make Joel play R&C. I'm sure he'd have a great time after he learns the controls and all that.
Deja vu.
Haha you speak Spanish so you have trouble distinguishing B and V
キロKilo a lot tbh
+Dax Masterix I have trouble pronouncing Spanish and NOT saying V as an English V
Infact alot of Spanish sounds are really unique to the language and it's alot more phonetically complicated than they let on in school.
I just been in this race before
I remember one ps2 demo disc in particular that had a Japanese import demo of a fish man with a talking turtle dude and you had to try and jump out of the pond and I've NEVER been able to find the game since.
Joel had pizza in two countries known for having bad pizza. Says pizza is bad. Good job, Joel.
Man I look forward to people drawing the demon stone game with a giant Luigi as the monster
1:22:00 And so dog becomes consumed by Noob Saibot.
I'm so glad he watched the videos and read the reviews too
34:11 I literally died with Joel laugh
I want a DDR mod that replaces all character models with Jar Jar Binks.

Okay, thanks for the tip.
i had Jampack Vol 15 that came with Okami, Lego Starwars, Yakuza, MLB, NFS Carbon and Destroy All Humans. Goddamn that was my shit
Please stream Ratchet & Clank. (Original PS2, please. The HD collection is full of glitches.)
22:03
I think you're mentioning GT5 Prologue, apparently GT5 was in development hell and the prologue was basically like a demo to fill like a huge year gap between 4 and 5. If i recall, GT5 was released in 2010 and GT4 was in 2004/5 so yikes

34:09 *DONT LET HIM EAT*
Did you know one of the voice actors for A Dog's Life also voice main characters for Thomas the Tank Engine and Gumball? His name is Kerry Shale
I knew Dog's Life emulated poorly, but I forgot it was this bad. Would be fun to see Joel play it. The game is actually pretty fun, IMO.

28:57 JFC I've been trying to remember the name of this game for almost a decade! I remember wasting so much time with this game when I was younger
2:05:13 good taste joel
They came in numbers
And so did I
Fuking shit, watching Joel attempting to tame that dance game gave me so much fucking early 2000’s nostalgia
2:27:10 holy crap please stream ratchet 2 that would be so awesome
I have SOOOOO many demo discs... i actually own a ps1 demo disc 1 which is rare? I don't know the valdility on that though since it was a friend that told me
you can look up on ebay to see if it's valuable.
Yea i think i will just out of curiosity
silvergbasp13 ahh no problem :)
They all aren't rare because they came with the PlayStation underground mags so there's tons
jampack was the shit, if its not worth anything send it to joel
The newest ratchet & clank for PS4 is a wonderful game. Captures the spirit of those old platformers so well, 100% recommend. I’d watch you stream it
I remember this specific game on a demo disk, it was dark and your riding on this Horse, I can't remember if your shooting someone on another horse or a massive demon chasing (too long ago to remember) and the next mission I think you was in the castle area where it was snowing and the guybwas dressed almost like van helsing from what I remember...cant think for the life of what it was but I just remember really enjoying it, definitely a ps2 demo, good ole days
Fun Fact, the ESRB rated Dog's Life T for Teen.
Joel, HD collection of Ratchet and Clank is badass. Its like a cross between Banjo Kazooie and a meaty 3rd person shooter, with bad jokes, awesome music, and fun settings.
The joke starting at 1:40:00 is brilliant
wow.. i totally forgot about The Getaway.. it really needs a sequel.
GTA series became toxic with the whole GTA online fiasco, this would be very neat.
Remind me to never have a lift with Joel if his driving in The Getaway is anything to go by :-D
That music has Jet Set Radio vibes
I am going to join that MMORPG-quest: I am going to make a small, red toon and spam "Da way".
I hope he plays jampack winter 2001 with the dynasty warriors 3 and final fantasy x demo
Holy shit, that's my jam. I still play those full games to this day. I have that Jampack somewhere...
We need a DDR stream
DMC3 runs FLAWLESSLY on PCSX2. Played it perfectly fine at 60 FPS. The only thing is mission 18 has a bug but it's easily fixable.
If you ever think about streaming it, it'll be awesome :P
Yeh, and the PC version is okay also
34:08 legendary
2:04:10 what is that voice!? It reminds me of Space Cataz
These discs were my childhood.
1:24:43 *_Na kmetiji je lepo, Eieio!_*
I hope Joel remembered to snap those discs in half after he was done with them as is tradition.
Speak for yourself, I think we have a couple of Sega Flash demo discs stashed away still. I've seen ppl sell them on ebay even
24:56 its Hayden Christensen
Please do a PS1 Jampack edition at some point, those disks were my magazine buying impoverished ass's childhood. I used the own the fuck out of the Legend of Dragoon disk
Dog's Life Hardcore Friday when??
I remember stealing these and Yu-gi-oh cards out of magazines... good times.
That Gladius guy has one of those hoax magical health bracelets around his neck. Dude should get his gold coins back
2:12:40 mfw Pewdiepie cameo
