@@CassiDS yeah, american plugs are just plain metal prongs, JIS (japan industral standard) plugs have covers extending our by 6mm or so so you cant easily be shocked
@@CassiDS Yes, and American plugs can be polarised (one prong is taller than the other) and can also include a third ground pin. Japan uses neither. 17:12 You might’ve hit the wrong button here. Cross and Circle usually mean “accept” and “back”, but in Japan, where this came from, the meanings are switched. This is because a red circle like this ⭕️ means the same thing as a green tick mark ✅, and the blue cross means the same thing as a red X. Granted, I don’t see Circle or Cross on any of those controllers, so I’m not sure about this. You might’ve made this mistake with Gurugurutaun (whatever it is) later in the video.
33:10 Oh wow! This is a reference to the first ten seasons of Caddicarus where he would slaughter bad games, slauvage mediocre games, and salvage good games. Good video. The slow mode is definitely a relic from the NES era. In NES games there's rarely an actual pause screen, the game just freezes, so it looks like it's going slow.
I think I remember owning a Bootleg NES Console in a PSOne Shell that has this feature on it's controller. I have to Mute Sound while using it on Super C or Gradius.
Dude, I can actually kinda relate to 1:17:34, believe it or not. I own the SNES Mouse, and one time I got curious what would happen if I tried to use it in Super Mario World; would I somehow be able to control Mario with a mouse? So I plugged in the mouse and turned on SMW, and that's when all hell broke loose. The title screen audio was completely corrupted, and after a few seconds it suddenly cut to a black screen, and the Forest of Illusion world map theme of all songs started playing. I know people say this a lot, but it genuinely felt like I was living through a creepypasta, and I am baffled that the SNES Mouse of all things caused it
13:19 “Oh, You wanna know what I think we really need for the PS1? Oh, No, Bill, What Do We Need? Well, John I’ll Tell You What We need. I Don’t Know, We Need… A MOBILE PHONE ADAPTER!!!!!”

It still irritates me when people say caddy is annoying. The sheer dedication, effort and creativity this dude just pours into every single video of his is nothing short of magnificent. This was totally worth the wait. This entire video is a riot. From start to finish.
Fun fact the only two people who ever told me they hate Caddy both ended up being very toxic friends, so now I can actually use Caddy as a judge of character
Why do caddy videos feel like an event? Hyped up events we all can’t wait to experience! Awesome video as usual. We can all wait months if quality is this good .
You’re in an incredibly rare position where you could only upload twice a year and it would absolutely be worth it. I’m forever grateful your skateboarding games video popped into my recommended. Amazing video as always. 🔥
Slow mode was a somewhat popular thing during the nes era due to the fact that most of those games didn’t have pause screens, they just paused. anyway amazing video!
What I find strange is that he thinks that playing Rayman with slow mode is bad thing; given how hard Rayman is, you'd think a pause buffer is a good thing.
Caddy 13 minutes in: "From this point onward, we are scraping *the bottom of the barrel."* Me: Oh come on, they can't all be that- *hour long video* ...oh. Oh no,
Ah, the NeGcon (pronounced "neh-jee-con", you were close). Namco's answer to simple analog steering controls back before the DualShock ever existed. The red buttons and right shoulder had analog input, so they could vary in intensity just like the twisting to steer. Namco supported the NeGcon for quite a long while, even into the PS2 era with Ridge Racer V and the "NamCollection" that featured 5 of its PS1 games. It's a neat little device, but not the most comfortable to hold, and indeed the limited number of buttons meant its compatibility with the full PS1 was limited. The JogCon was released alongside Ridge Racer Type 4 and apparently featured some "repulsive feedback" on the little wheel for the very few compatible games it was made for (and again, Ridge Racer V was one of the supported games, along with Pac-Man World). It did have a secret NeGcon mode for games that supported it, but there was no feedback to mimic the spring or recenter the wheel, so it would end up a bit awkward.
55:32 This bit reminds me of his Disney games vid: "[S]o instead, you can have a pickle on a plate. I call it... _Le Pickle Plattee._ " *"...And it comes with a knife when you wanna end it all."*
I actually recognised the slow mode button from some third-party NES controllers, which did the exact same thing, pausing and un-pausing the game repeatedly. And it made a little more sense there because a good chunk of the NES library's pause buttons just froze the gameplay and nothing else. But even then, only some of them, and it's not like that helps much anyway. Third-party controllers will really just do whatever. Also, just wanna say, this may be your best video to date, and even if it was a total coincidence that it landed on the 10th anniversary of your first review video, it was a really appropriate choice for an anniversary episode, with all of the call-backs to games you've reviewed, this video concept itself being hinted at as far back as the PS1 magazines video, and even a slaughter-or-salvage gag. Genuinely awesome to see what 10 years of improvement and passion have given us!
@@Frisabelle Poor bastard Caddy had to go to the hospital a week or two after this video because he sliced off his entire knuckle with a cheese grater.

Watching Caddy feels like watching a 5 year old video. In a good way. When no one cared about monetisation, deplatforming and other things… Never stop, Caddy, and thank you all who support him!!
what i think caddy forgets about the one-handed controller is something my dad told me about when he used to have one: it's perfect for rpgs he used to play a lot of final fantasy and things like that which really only use the arrows to move in the menus and overworld and action buttons to select so it's not like there was a lot of super engaged gameplay, at least physically, so he could eat food with one hand and play games with the other
You know, upon reflection, that concept could be a horror game concept in itself. Like we're watching the cutscenes and then afterwards we're controlling him in both a real world and game world sense.

fun fact, the "us plug" the yaroze came with was a japanese JIS plug, they included plastic shielding on the prongs to prevent shock. that design never came to the us
There's a difference?
@@CassiDS yeah, american plugs are just plain metal prongs, JIS (japan industral standard) plugs have covers extending our by 6mm or so so you cant easily be shocked
@@CassiDS Yes, and American plugs can be polarised (one prong is taller than the other) and can also include a third ground pin. Japan uses neither. Japanese mains power is rated at 100V 50/60Hz (Japan has two incompatible power grids) and US is 120V 60Hz. But the margins are usually wide enough that either will work on the other as long as it fits
I have the LCD screen with the car adapter. I remember playing Rayman in the backseat of the car and I always hated it when my mom reached her destination because as soon as she turns the car off the PS1 shut down lol

Its possible to pull from a 12v that is always on regardless of the key that way you could play until your moms battery was dead lol
I made my mom keep the car on for hours in a Burger King parking lot while playing through Midgar in FF7.
You are possibly one of the strongest lads I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Watching you battle against the worst series of bad luck I’ve ever seen and you still hop right back up with your best efforts. You’ve really amazed me through and through again these last number of years. Welcome back! ❤️

Good video. It's always like after 4 months of nothing, Jimmy Caddick comes out of the woods like Bigfoot to plop an hour-and-a-half video onto his beloved children.
I like how Baddy is the only character that survived from the old Caddicarus era.

@@Fan-imator He debuted in the Crash Twinsanity review as a way for Caddy to mock the Evil Twin trope. I don't know what other videos he's been in, though.

The DDR mat helped me loose almost 50 lbs of weight when I was a teen.
I still have it in my room and in working condition.
I remember a high school friend of mine said that she worried her doctors into thinking she had an eating disorder because of how fast she was losing weight via playing DDR at her house. I think she tried to explain that’s the reason for it but they wouldn’t believe her.
Samba De Amigo maracas are doing that for me now.
The slow mode is definitely a relic from the NES era. In NES games there's rarely an actual pause screen, the game just freezes, so it looks like it's going slow.
I remember seeing those big NES and SNES controllers that have turbo and slow mode buttons
But then Mega-Man and Zelda...
Wow, just like me...
could also be good for pause buffering in some games for glitches
I know people say this a lot, but it genuinely felt like I was living through a creepypasta, and I am baffled that the SNES Mouse of all things caused it
That's what happens when you take fishing rods from the Wu Tan Clan
It isn't a true creepypasta if it didn't have hyper realistic blood and Mario looking at you with hyper realistic eyes

17:07 I love how Caddicarus doesn't know that in Japan, the X button means no & the O button means yes.
Those folks with their moon language are pretty strange. But they did make the PS1 and beyond so yeah. LOL
Weird because he taught us that in the Thomas episode
Slow mode was a somewhat popular thing during the nes era due to the fact that most of those games didn’t have pause screens, they just paused. anyway amazing video!
What I find strange is that he thinks that playing Rayman with slow mode is bad thing; given how hard Rayman is, you'd think a pause buffer is a good thing.
36:30 “Look at these guys! They look like they run around supermarkets and unpeel bananas.”
Never change Caddy, never change.
Sounds like something a 60 something year old would say
I love when Caddicarus videos start with a completely unhinged segment that has little to do with the rest of the video

well most of the running time is him in silence before cracking a punchline that he cuts off before it finishes
1:17:50 this scene is perfect. I have no words for it
1:23:03 I love when you incorporate outtakes into the finished product
"what if there was an *O* ther--" *[phlegm]*
Interesting
Glad someone else knew what the jogcon was for. I got it with R4. It was fun and useless.
Caddy’s fake laugh and ‘oh shhiii’ with the PS1 LCD screen bit is one of those random things that’ll always make me laugh
55:32 This bit reminds me of his Disney games vid:
"[S]o instead, you can have a pickle on a plate. I call it... _Le Pickle Plattee._ "
*"...And it comes with a knife when you wanna end it all."*
It was incredibly common on third party controllers (for multiple console generations), I was genuinely surprised he'd never seen them before.
“If you enjoy your knuckle skin being scrapped off” interesting foreshadowing

I don’t think it’s lost its charm for him.
what i think caddy forgets about the one-handed controller is something my dad told me about when he used to have one: it's perfect for rpgs
he used to play a lot of final fantasy and things like that which really only use the arrows to move in the menus and overworld and action buttons to select so it's not like there was a lot of super engaged gameplay, at least physically, so he could eat food with one hand and play games with the other
The closest we’re ever going to get to a Caddicarus movie. Absolutely hysterical as per usual and amazing production
"After Harry Mason crashes his car, He then becomes the car." - Jim "Caddy" Caddick 2022
