Yeah the way they showed it made it seem as if she was like an endgame villain I was surprised. When we had to kill her so early in the game I get that they wanted to keep most of the game secret but they should’ve shown at least a bit more gameplay of other locations or bosses
That's actually kinda...valid. She really didn't wanna do the ceremony and just enjoyed being her and be with her daughters. Unlike the others Miranda using Rose as a vessel, Karl wanting to overthrow Miranda, Donna wanting nothing to do with any of this in the first place and Moreau just following orders to gain affection. To Alcina, this was PERSONAL since Ethan basically killed the only people she loved ( besides Miranda ) leaving her alone in a giant castle.
I'm disappointed that she was the first boss to die, she literally had so much potential and based on her diary, what little was seen, she was close to Mother Miranda (I'm not sure if the other bosses were close as well, I didn't read much on the rest of their origins from what people found) it would've been nice if she was the second to last boss fight in the game or had something more to do with the plot. Rest in Peace Vampire mommy :(

Village was one of my favorite Resident Evil games. I really loved the more gothic, renaissance era style they went with. All the boss fights were super fun, if a little easy, and the villains were super memorable. Everything was well written and connected together super well, and they even throw in a fun scene where you get to play as Chris in god mode basically. It’s one of the best in the series.

I honestly think the development team probably underestimated just how popular Lady Dimitrescu would actaully be. Of course this is all conjecture.. but I think that if the team really felt that the character would be as popular as she is, they would've held out for her death far later in the game, or even have her survive somehow.
I share your sentiments. Lady Dimitrescu's character design is, indeed, easy to underestimate on paper. She's merely a female Dracula spinoff clothed in a Victorian manner, only bigger and taller. That said, the way they nailed her facial design, model, and voice acting really skyrocketed her charisma and turned her into an extremely captivating character. They really carved the right combination of elegance and awe out of a rather generic concept. It's been a year since I watched RE8 playthrough and I still come back to her cutscenes. That's what I'd call a legendary character. I really hope they somehow find a way to do her justice in RE9, but it's probably just a wish that will never happen.
Honestly, the castle with the crazy ladies was the main selling point for me. I was a bit disappointed that their arc was very short lived or at least it felt like it.

Village was one of my favorite Resident Evil games. I really loved the more gothic, renaissance era style they went with. All the boss fights were super fun, if a little easy, and the villains were super memorable. Everything was well written and connected together super well, and they even throw in a fun scene where you get to play as Chris in god mode basically. It’s one of the best in the series.

I honestly think the development team probably underestimated just how popular Lady Dimitrescu would actaully be. Of course this is all conjecture.. but I think that if the team really felt that the character would be as popular as she is, they would've held out for her death far later in the game, or even have her survive somehow.
I hope she gets a DLC of her own, honestly!
I share your sentiments. Lady Dimitrescu's character design is, indeed, easy to underestimate on paper. She's merely a female Dracula spinoff clothed in a Victorian manner, only bigger and taller. That said, the way they nailed her facial design, model, and voice acting really skyrocketed her charisma and turned her into an extremely captivating character. They really carved the right combination of elegance and awe out of a rather generic concept. It's been a year since I watched RE8 playthrough and I still come back to her cutscenes. That's what I'd call a legendary character. I really hope they somehow find a way to do her justice in RE9, but it's probably just a wish that will never happen.
