  • It was a tedious process but we got rid an extra 30lbs worth of lights that we did not need anymore. These were just the wires to the "School Bus" things. Glad to have this all cleaned up and more simple to work on in the future. Thanks for watching and following along on our @BackroadPurpose adventure

I live in northern BC it’s hard to believe land can be as flat as where you live. You could see your dog running away for days. 😁

Haha so true! My home state of Virginia is even more flat! lol

You want a long story? Back in the 90's I used to roadie for a drummer friend of mine. Nothing major, just local clubs back and forth to their storage unit "studio" with a full drum kit. Usually with a pickup truck, but one night with my wife's Miata. Filled it up like you did here.
After the gig I dropped everything off and headed home at about 3 am. Got to a red light with nobody around. Waited about three minutes for the opposite light to turn red. Then the left turn arrow turned green, and I still waited. That went yellow, then red then I got my green light. All this time with nobody around.
I moved forward with my green and out of nowhere a car comes from my left side and through his red light doing 45+mph and spun me and the miata around 270 degrees or so. I think it was $6200 dollars or so damage and medical. Even spinning circles in an intersection, that car was a blast to drive.

Ahh. what a sad moment I bet. The miata sure is a fun car but also pretty sketchy to drive around a lot of the time. I am also a drummer and it is fascinating what you can fit in a miata with the right Tetris skills.

Hey hey @BackroadPurpose! Great way to think about the wiring! Glad we found you guys. We just took out our ceiling and are taking out the walls today. TONS of wires and hesitant to snip them. However, it makes sense to do ONE at a time... follow it to the panel or wherever it goes, then make a decision on if you're going to use it or vote it out! QUESTION: How do the emergency exit wires work? If you snip them, obviously it didn't prevent your bus from starting. But if they are snipped, does it NOT alert the alarm? We're about to remove those, and thought we'd see how you went about handling those.
Thanks so much! Love the vid & look forward to seeing more from y'all!

Hey! Thank you so much for watching.
Doing one wire at a time is definetly time consuming but it has the least amount of room for error since you know exactly what you just took out.
As far as the emergency exits go. I actually opened them all and then found all of the buzzers and disconnect it. After that, I would disconnect the wires one by one and see if it would start. If it would start without being disconnected then I could just rip them out. If it did not, then the wires would have to be reconnected some way to tell the computer that they "have power and are working." Does that make sense?

Backroad Purpose yes, that makes perfect sense! We’ll keep you posted on how it goes. We’ll be doing that in a couple days!

Doing same process soon..just took walls and insulation out.. Pretty sure the way all the emerg exit wires work is by grounding when the latch is closed. .come across that a lot working on vehicles w alarm systems. ..could be wrong though ;)

Hi. What color are the wires that go to the 8 side-marker lights? We have the same bus, and the driver’s side marker lights don’t come on. Thanks.

Hey!I believe they were yellow and white butttt that was a super long time ago. You could trace it from your on off switch and see what they lead into.

@@janina8559 Haha yeah its seems simple enough. We almost got a natures head Composting toilet for $40 but were not fast enough messaging him. If you keep looking all the time for the deals, you will find them.

Backroad Purpose I don’t understand why people buy those. Making your own composting toilet is way better and easier to empty. You can build it to the height You want. Bucket and oil change filter plus a computer fan and bam! You can run a hose from the funnel right down to your grey water tank and empty your bucket when needed no smell from the urine ever so its actually better!
