Regina Spektor defines beautiful music. Pop candy music might be fun to sing along to but Regina's music makes you think and question things. She is a true artist
I think this song is about depression and how you kind of sink in to your own world of self-pity. Someone else’s face being harsher than yours refers to tha unhappiness evident in your expression. This song is so sad
No idea what the song was meant to be about and whether you're right. You making that link I assume you have experience with depression and it's beautiful that you feel that way. Those lines: some days aren't yours at all.... as someone who has experienced depression much of their life it always felt so.. true. It feels beautiful that someone else sees that connection too.
It took my 2 months of listening to Regina songs before finding this Spektacular video. As she says in all her concerts thank you so very much. I owe you two or three. Please could you do New Year or Obsolete? Please or come to Grand Hotel where is the well...
10 years ago I fell in love with this song and only today did I find this video. It’s absolutely beautiful and sad and I love it so much. I wish Regina could see it!
I love how the moon doesn't really care about anything in this video. His expressions like yeah yeah whatever okay I can take you for ride but I'm too depressed to care anyway lol
What is strange about this song is I had Soviet Kitsch for a while before I really discovered this gem, as it's the last song and even then I didn't really "listen" first times round. It's really one of RS's best, when she does the hard bit (:)) and fully writes something :) And it's just so bl**dy awesome and good. 11k hits? With the video, Vardi I thank you for it, this should be one of the biggest things on YT?! :(
I just re-read this and I'm sorry if it came across as being too cheeky. I didn't mean it that way, and I don't like the way I come across to myself even :) I love Regina, just some of her earlier stuff is a bit ... less well composed and playing around. That's what I'm getting at, my point was that when she actually does more serious music, and hits the mark, it's totally brilliant. I love this song so much it hurts. I think all of us are like that, like say Ben Folds, he had a similar sort of musical path, early stuff good but also silly filler, as he got older .. less filler :) (though regina gets better every album more so than Ben. Please release more !!!! :)) I never found a wallet :( Strangely I keep finding mobile phones :)
Something about this song (melody, chords?) reminds me strongly of Joni Mitchell. Admittedly, I've had Joni on my mind for a while now. Anyway, there's one short phrase in this song that sounds very much like a line in "All I Want". I'm sure it was a coincidence, but it's cool to hear this "connection" between two singers and songwriters I admire so much.
I think Regina manages to capture the same kind of beauty Joni does in her songs. I love a lot of different music, but there's a feeling I only get when listening to these two.
To Jonathan Vardi... I have read all the comments and I see everybody seems to feel quite similar about the song and your excellent vid, so you have done really something for the heart of the people, just like Regina is always doing so... à la bonne heure! :)))) I have seen this vid since years from time to time again and again, but this is the first time I thought I should leave a comment...
Somedays aren't yours at all They come and go As if they're someone else's days They come and leave you behind someone else's face And it's harsher than yours And colder than yours They come in all quiet Sweep up and then they leave And you don't hear a single floor board creak They're so much stronger Than the friends you try to keep By your side Downtown, Downtown I'm not here Not anymore, I've gone away Don't call me, don't write I'm in love with your daughter I wanna have her baby I'm in love with your daughter So can I please? sort by "Newest first", there are a few comments :) but still few regarding the song - it's freaking amazing and "I'm in love with your daughter" is a cool plot twist :D
Hello Jonatha Vardi, awesome work with this video, i Loved it... Could you please talk to me a Little Little about the lyrics in the video, and the part that say "I'm on love with your daughter" Is like, not going in the same direction of the song
Me and my old internet friend used to send “I’m in love with your daughter. I wanna have her babyyyy.” And “DONT CALL ME DONT WRITE.” to each other on AIM years ago after watching this video. Zoe C if you see this, I hope you are well! It’s been years! -m

Oy, I love her accent. The way she says "dwotter"
Tis Regina. You're very late on the market :)
August 2020.
This song and video got me through one of my saddest episodes when I was a teen.
Love you, Regina Spektor.
This is THE song when I had a really shitty day, never fails to cheer me up :)
Zayades today was that day for me and I’ve listened several times

Such a good sad song. Makes me feel what depression sounds like. 🥀*

I think she's seen it bro.
You talk about lack of film talent with friends but whoever made this video went for it. Good for you.
I consider this the official video
SUCH A good song. Easily one of my top 5 by regina.
I was just listening to this with headphones on and I cannot fathom how I could improve it.
So glad this video still exists ❤️
I love how the moon doesn't really care about anything in this video. His expressions like yeah yeah whatever okay I can take you for ride but I'm too depressed to care anyway lol
I'm sick and tired of all this " giving rides to weird centaur people " shit. - the moon
Regina Spektor
Tony Graham the moon probably symbolizes suicide as an escape from her harsh life
@@compositiondolls LOL😂😂😂 your comment is 5 years old but that was hilarious 😝
@@catdabill true. Good point
I remember watching this in 2006

I really get this too! I hear a lot of similarity in something subtle about the way the melodies jump around and the way she accompanies herself!
One of my favorite songs ever ❤️
its a nice song
I love Regina Spektor and the video is perfect with the song, excellent work

I want this song to play at my wedding as my fiancée and I dance together
I love Regina more than any of you (^^), but by god, that's the most New York Jewish way anyone ever pronounced "daughter". :p

ვაიმე.
Nobody else could pull off the vibrato lip baby noise exaltation at the climax of a song and get away with it.
I can’t believe the moon stole someone’s woman 😂
?what's the name of the actress
אני כמעט משוכנעת שזאת הבחורה ששיחקה את בילי
