I love the crazy eyes she's got going on in this video. She's played this song thousands of times and still appears to be enjoying singing this song of longing.
I'm so glad i found this. This was my first Ani concert. I went to see Dylan. He was awful, but I walked away saying "Who was that girl that opened for him?" Thank you for 15 great years, Ani.
she doesnt just sing... she speaks from the heart. and the emotion that is involved is nothing like any artist out there. she is timeless & unforgettable.
I was introduced to Ani's talent by a dear friend and fell in LOVE from jump I just feel that she sings from the heart and that's was makes a great artist for me.
woman, folk roots with occasional bluegrass roots, honest artful lyrics and so on, yes take the first away and you have what she is, an incredible shining artist in our time. Thanks for enriching my life with your music and thoughts.
This is the first Ani song I ever heard. I sat and listened through the entire album ("Dilate") in one shot, completely mesmerized by her lyrics, her voice, her music. I have been a fan ever since, and she always amazes me. Thank you for posting this!!!
ani is the best. i heard about her from my english teacher of all people and thought nothing of it until i listened to her and now I LOVE HER. her music is soooo good
this is classic ani-the way people love her. she looks gorgeous!!! & i love how she has so much life in her eyes & sings with true feeling. lyrics are great-we all have been in that position-or know someone who has. she is truly unique.
This. The first song I ever heard from Ani. Was stoned and that moment in time was like no other. That was over 10 years ago and here I am, still listening like its the first time ever. They don't make music like this anymore... And that's ok, cause I'll always have this.
Each live version is a slightly different story told. I love every one. To the person below who is ranting about best acoustic guitar players. Why so angry? It is an opinion. Let it be. I have seen a great many guitar players of all different styles and abilities. Many of them were sublimely wonderful for different reasons. In my opinion, when Ani is at her best, her guitar seems an extension of herself. At that moment, she was for me also, one of the greatest acoustic guitar players I have e
If what you are going through is vulgar the only genuine way to express it is through vulgarity. I've been watching a lot of her live stuff lately and I'm so stricken by the fact that she actually experiences her songs as she's playing them. A lot of singer/songwriters do the same song 10 times and maybe a few times be outside of their own head while singing it. She seems to do it all the time.
Ani DiFranco is one of the true mavericks in music, the only thing that really matters to me - People that have the courage to say it THEIR way! And it doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous!
I'm playing through a playlist I made of Ani songs while I work and things, and I keep glancing up to see her do adorable things while she sings, and I just noted how different her hair is in each video haha. I love this lady.
I remember the exact moment I was living this song. Driving back from Circle Sanctuary's Summer Solstice celebration...newly dumped for another. This song was my mantra,
Ohhhh I still see him a couple of times a week. It was hardest when we worked alongside each other though! Way too old for crushes, I really did love him. I could even see clearly when he was being a bit of a dick. Seven bloody years - singing along with Ani on the way home in the car reminding myself that our highly effective working relationship was the most important thing. Ani helped a lot!
I saw a couple of shows from this tour. I went more for Dylan than Ani, although I definitely was a fan of hers as well. But I must say, she really upstaged him. Maybe half or more of the crowd seemed to be hers to begin with, but in terms of quality, she really beat him by a good deal. (And I am a big Dylan fan.) In October, I'll be going to maybe my 15th or 16 Ani show. Best 'opening act' I ever saw.
Sometimes profanity is the only way to truly describe something. She is speaking from the heart of a past situation that was important to her. The meaning of this song would be nothing without that word. Walk in her shoes before you judge.
She's so talented! I knew of her years ago! Unfortunately some of the greatest artists could have been more famouos but they were born in the 'wrong time' :( I think if some of them were born in the internet era they would have been more famous and spoken of! :( shame!
@scandia61 you and 37 other people have missed the meaning of this song. Its about meeting / knowing someone who is already with someone else, therefore being "untouchable". Nothing to do with being dumped or cheated on.
She's the best artist most people have never heard of.
Ani makes the world OK. No matter how down I feel, listening to her lifts my spirits.
she is musical perfection. fan for 17 years since I was introduced to her in 1996.
My mom used to play this song when I was three, and now I love this song!
She's so cute singing in this video. I love her smile, it's gorgeous.
What a great song.

That happened to me in 2000 with Weezer and Savestheday..
I was like Savestheday! Wow.. who are those guys...
Yeah, this song is hitting home. Again.
such is life...
Best concert ever was Ani! The entire audience sang along.
she doesnt just sing... she speaks from the heart. and the emotion that is involved is nothing like any artist out there. she is timeless & unforgettable.
I love Ani, there's no other female artist like her, she's totally unique, her creativity is all on her own terms Not girl power but Raw Woman Power!!
Haven't heard this song in ages...brings back memories. :)
i first heard ani when i was 13....15 years later....still in luv with her!! SOOO glad i went to that concert 15 years ago... :)
I'm replying to a comment made 10 years ago. Ani is timeless.
I was introduced to Ani's talent by a dear friend and fell in LOVE from jump I just feel that she sings from the heart and that's was makes a great artist for me.
Ani has a voice replete with invincible range and feeling. She is a great performer and why do we not see more of her likeness on TV?
TV is not made for the thinking person
woman, folk roots with occasional bluegrass roots, honest artful lyrics and so on, yes take the first away and you have what she is, an incredible shining artist in our time. Thanks for enriching my life with your music and thoughts.
I love you, Ani. Your music is a soundtrack for my life.

I LOVE ANI FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love her. She's so gutsy.
She's so talented! I knew of her years ago! Unfortunately some of the greatest artists could have been more famouos but they were born in the 'wrong time' :( I think if some of them were born in the internet era they would have been more famous and spoken of! :( shame!
Really Glad I Found this by accident
@scandia61 you and 37 other people have missed the meaning of this song. Its about meeting / knowing someone who is already with someone else, therefore being "untouchable". Nothing to do with being dumped or cheated on.

Songs are silly things to fall in love with. Ten years are confirmation.
@Birdnerd67 loving her even more with every live performance!!
I'm kinda in love with this song :)
good song
I have bigtime respect for Ani even though I'm not really a fan of her music.
Luv ani
Stick and stones
May break my bones
But words will never hurt me...
Unless, of course, they're Ani's words
@Birdnerd67 the song is about wnating someone you caant have, not about being dumped or cheated on
Love her but video quality is so poor
Love
