I think that might of been done purposely given that the original Bird of Prey from Balance of Terror was always intended to be a modified Starfleet Starship design. But during the filming of the episode, a line where Scotty discusses that fact was cut... So I wouldn't be surprise if this design was an homage to that cut line :)
I LOVE the glowing blue hemispheres capping off the nacelles! Just as the grills of the Connie didn't glow in TOS because of technical limitations, I feel these hemispheres should have also glowed but didn't for the same reason. They add a "more was needed with past tech to get the job done" feel to the technology.

@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Thanks you i just see it i like your story of thats ship almost like the discovery era in the kelvin timeline who for me is your best work with the romulan empire story.
What’s interesting is that every space agency on earth has some form of the Star Trek delta shape in its insignia. Some are more stylized and consist of only a delta shaped line, but most have a fully filled in delta shape. One has to wonder if Star Trek adopting the delta insignia wasn’t just a happenstance artistic choice taking that into consideration. 🤷🏻♀️
So, seeing as they developed "polarized hull plating" for shielding. Was artifical gravity a off shoot of polarized plating, thereby allowing decks to be run parallel to thrust instead of across the direction of thrust?
I feel the Vulcans could have sped up humanity's development without giving humanity the technology by providing a report of the problems they would need to overcome and engineer for/around eliminating much of the trial and error. When problems do arise, nudge the engineers in the right direction with a "Our experience had taught us the problem could be W, X, Y, or Z," with 3 intentionally probable but false solutions which looking into would grow humanity's needed long-term knowledge.
I actually love this ship, its so cool. And is the only simple shape they almost never do, even though it looks cool. The only other one is discovery, and I personally think that triangle looks amazing on that ship. Thank you for doing this!
For some reason, one of my 1st thoughts when you talked about retiring this class is that they broke these ships out of mothballs for Wolf 359 disaster...
Quite like this ship hoped we would have seen them again when the xindi attempted to destroy earth at end of S3. From the front looks similar to TOS Romulan warbird/BOP

It’s something I’ve always wondered…regarding your comments about news travelling fast about contact with the vulcans… If such contact were to happen, vulcans landing as they did…you can all too easily wonder at the stories that could or possibly even have been written dealing with earth as a whole coming to grips with contact… Like, they landed in Montana, and contacted the American scientist who built and flew it…granted we aren’t made fully aware of the context and conflict lines of WW3, but be easy to see other countries like russia or China trying to “take offence” that they weren’t the ones contacted first… Might be worth asking then…are there any novels that cover this period of time, like the first few weeks/months/couple of years directly after first contact?
I'd love to see more about how humanity achieved ground to orbit travel in the pre-Federation era; It takes a lot of energy and infrastructure to achieve that via chemical engines...
While I am a pretty good sized Trek fan I don't know everything so I was wondering....is it known who came up with the idea and first design of the saucer/2ndary/2 nacell design? I mean was it like some random dude or chick named Ronald/Rhonda EpekleMcManistein that drew it on a napkin at a bar while drunk as hell on what they thought was "the good stuff"?
Easily my favourite Enterprise era ships, they're sleek, simple, effective, and dedicated to one task. I think the Federation would have been well served to have kept a half dozen in the system of every member world, continuously updated as technologies improved. 120 or so people per system tasked with internal security would have been a very small thing to ask and they would have made for excellent first deployments out of the academy. Plus can you imagine how many of those things could be rounded up in an emergency? No more of that "only ship in range" nonsense.
To me it always struck me as a short range destroyer/escort, geared towards home defence and firepower than exploration; allowing the Intrepid frigates to cover mid range exploration and defence and the NX Class cruisers to cover long range exploration
So many people are mentioning the similarities between the NX Delta and the Romulan Bird of Prey that I wonder if, in beta canon, the BoP was their answer _to_ the NX Delta and they kept at it instead of dropping it like Starfleet did to go with saucers and the occasional sphere & cylinder?

I really like the Delta and the Intrepid class Starships something about them just look so awesome if I was the Federation I would reboot both of these class starships and give them the newest technology that they have to sedate because those ships had to be or not to be easier to make then most of the starships that Starfleet has in most cases maybe each one I would make about 12 or 15 of each design ships just to have just in case then send the big boys and the Heavy Hitters out on deep space reconnaissance and keep these guys in Earth's Galaxy or nearby Earth just in case or even let section 31 get a couple of ships and let them work their magic on them just so they can spice them up and kick it up a notch now that would be something
It looks likely that the Delta/Neptune is quite capable of atmospheric flight and probably landing, meaning they can be stationed on Earth or the Moon for basing and repair, which is quite useful.
An admiral, on a space station under attack by aliens later to be identified as, Klingons, who saw a Delta swoop in and save the day... ...that's where Starfleets, Delta badge shape, came from!

I would like to know when and how Starfleet developed gravity plates? Since it seems that all Starfleet ships seem to have them, but we never were told how that came about! I assume for good reason! Of course, Star Trek has a lot of imagination based on very little science fact or even possibilities but mostly developed a low budget and a lot of literary license! After all, it would be a pretty boring series if it too 70,000 years to reach the nearest star system, not to mention no gravity for 70,000 years would most definitely change the human physique and psyche. I have most all the Star Trek movies and series, but it seems that all too many people see Star Trek as real possibilities and think that ids how it will be, disregarding reality! Considering how many people believe the stupid BS of QAnon and the outrageous political BS that is so prevalent now, it's not far fetched that a lot of people believe that Star Trek is a real possibility! I never understood why Starfleet would allow the Vulcans to have a say, or in command, in Earth's spaceship development! I guess the series needed a friend/foe for drama!

Too bad we never got more seasons of Enterprise if only for all the action of the Earth-Romulan War.
