I've watched and saved hundreds of synthesizer /keyboard/module demos on YT, and Ujiime san is definitely the coolest. He never wastes our time and plays pro :)
I didn't watch with subtitles. I felt I knew what he was saying purely from the context, his inflection, and excitement. Especially on the mini V. My translation: Holy Moley POLYPHONY!!!!!
different experience having everything all in one unit, fun to play without a computer sometimes, I prefer real analogue but can't deny the convenience and complexity digital can give you, room for both
hmmm the only thing I miss is the sound of the old synths. The looks is here. Most of Arturia emulations don't sound very authentic and convincing, actually. Nice looking GUI has a powerful placebo effect. The only Arturia emulations that sound nice to me are Matrix-12, Prophet VS/5, and SEM kinda. The biggest rubbish are Moog emulations. Those sound nothing like Moog, and the filter sounds quite lame. NI Monarch is a better Moog emulation. GForce Minimonsta, too. I'm just trying to be objective, not trolling. ;) Cheers!
I only like a few softsynths, and this collection has almost all of them in one box. You have to have this if only for the patches these softies have to offer - well, and the Moog Modular CS-80, Prophet and Oberheim SEM. You should be able to tell that they sound rich and juicy, and pretty darn authentic. Real CS-80s and Obie 8 Voices can set you back $10,000 or more just by themselves, and a Moog Modular as much as a house! Save thousands and get this!
lol actually what he said is 'osireta' instead of oscillator, 'fuiruta' instead of filter, 'kato ofu' instead of cutoff, 'steppu sikensa' intead of step sequencer, and so on. yes, those are loanwords from english in japanese. similar sounds with its original english word but not same. maybe you can learn japanese very easily if you try to learn.
I suggest you do what we were doing back in 1990 in our first incarnation as "Burnt Republic" where I ran all of real synths and drum machine through VARIOUS guitar distortion Stomp boxes. You can do that now Virtually or externally. It gives WAY more punch externally though and wont eat up your CPU.
burntrobot I'm looking for a synth box capable of mimic real instruments (guitars, bass and drums basically) and add some cool effects to it, if such exist. Any tips?
Then it sounds like you are looking for a sampler/sequencer. I'd visit a local Guitar Center and look into their used area. I found it easier to learn hardware first then software was a breeze!
burntrobot "more punch", that if there, just would wind up being compressed during recording, mixing etc. But that "more punch" is a myth propagated by people who want to feel like their hardware is better somehow. I had pretty much ALL the cool stuff, moogs, hardware synths, guitars, distortion boxes, everything. With a great system with good AD and DA, good amp etc, 16/24/32 bit mixing you can get more than enough to make your ears bleed with the better virtual instruments. We're also at a place in time that say a system based i7 4770k, with good hardware like Asus in a PC with windows 7, can run the equivalent of a room full of synths (moog/jupiter) etc, while recording real vocals/guitars (or keyboard guitar effects), along with amazing distortion/tube effects all in one machine for under $1000. I know, because I'm doing it right now.
VoidSECT - My favorite thing to do for over 30 years now it use keyboards to mimic real guitars, bass, drums and so on. Most people would do just like "electronic" mixes, where I'd try to get it sounding real. Now I'm doing all plugins under windows 7 and Sonar Producer (doesn't have to be that though). I'd use a good loop of a distortion guitar running in a software sampler, then output that to some of the best amplifier VST simulations with distortion, and some reverb, then run it through to EQ (or the other order). Then it takes a LOT of practice to pull of things that sound like good guitar. Not everything can be done perfectly, but many things can. Or just grab a guitar, which I do sometimes, and play that for fun. To get good at using a keyboard, practice for like hours a day, with pitch and modulation, and try to copy good players like Eric Clapton, George Harrison, or whoever. But this is what I imagined when you said, "synth box". Otherwise, I'm not sure exactly what you meant.
This man is one of the best out there but i have not got a clue what he is on about apart from when he turn,s some thing on or off , i wonder how long it would take to learn his language ,or some kind person put,s subtitle for us English folk ,, please
Lol translate into English, and its another epic tale of a model, he has reproduced this with beer, money and the dream, and there is never such a future. Epic stuff.
You must be smoking rocks.....I have the keyboard and the software running thru his same imac with KRK speakers....ALL arturia stuff sounds amazing!!! ANALOG is all about the effects...Nothing is ever "raw"...YOU have to make the sounds YOU want.
What midi controller-keyboard is he using? Anybody? He seems to have pre-assigned the knobs on the VSTs to it and I like the variety of its controllers...you know, push buttons/faders/turning knobs/and even little drum pads and keyboard...Appealing
by the way any one no what he think,s of the Arturia v collection 3.0 i am trying to search for as many reviews as possible before committing to shelling out £339.00 that's a the cheapest i can see,, it is very tempting what do you like minded folk think,,,
It's VIRTUAL... and INEXPENSIVE. What I can't understand is why ppl pay for full size hardware virtual analog. I think these are fantastic, but does my Mini V sound as good as a real Mini? Please...
99% of all critics of plugins can't even remotely describe in precise musically and technically norms what they mean with "fat" and "warm", but constantly throwing around those two words...
i own this software and it sounds like rubbish - very thin and not warm at all. The difference is personality between the cs80, minimoog, jp8 and pro5 come down to the graphics more than anything else - they all kind of sound the same. While this is a nice demo, i think he should have turned the effects of and played us the raw sounds.
v. 3.0 (this one) was very disappointing, especially the CS80V. But every version since then has improved and now V 5.0 and the new v6.0 are pretty authentic and fat sounding.
ces logiciels sont biens mais ont tué la vraie valeur musicale , car la majorité convergent vers le technique inconsciemment , et ils s y noient ainsi ils se retrouveront avec ni inspiration ni avec une belle composition musicale
I have both sparkLE and minlabs. Both are useless pieces of crap. Minilabs crashes every tenths or so times you chnage between voices. Its impossible to use inside a DAW as it crashes if you even look at it like you want to changes a setting. I upgrade SparkLE from 1.6 to 1.7.1, boy what a mistake. The midi controller software crashes just by opening the program. The actual SparkLE program has an "unsupported sampling rate" error and no way I can see to change the sampling rate. When I tried to rollback to 1.6 the sound is distored and crap. I have contacted Arturia 3 times in the last two weeks and the most sensical reply I get is from an automated email system. In conclusion, hardware = junk, software = useless, support = non- existant. Don't waste your money or your time.
Keep in mind that any sample library and midi programs in general are CPU eaters. Usually, you'll need to have a pretty beefy computer actually manage using such software. From your description, I'm guessing you're using a laptop.
A fantastic presentation. Very well done. 30 years ago you could only dream and drool for these synths. Thank you Kat.
I've watched and saved hundreds of synthesizer /keyboard/module demos on YT, and Ujiime san is definitely the coolest. He never wastes our time and plays pro :)
English sub-title is available now!!
"Such a small plum elder sister dream" .... I'll never turn on auto translate for captions again ... However - gotta love this guy.
30 years ago,I wanted all synthesizers included in this software.Great.
Mr. Katsunori. You are awesome! Thank You, Sir!
これだけたくさんの名機がつまったものが50400円で買えるなんて本当にいい時代になったもんですね。
素晴らしい!!
The Moog Modular V has nine oscillators. And Bob Moog himself worked with Arturia on the emulation. It sounds fantastic!
Learning how to operate an Arp2600 was hard enough but I have to learn Japanese too?
I didn't watch with subtitles. I felt I knew what he was saying purely from the context, his inflection, and excitement. Especially on the mini V. My translation: Holy Moley POLYPHONY!!!!!
We told him it was an english video but he just carried on with japanese and we didn't have the money to re shoot
love the Arturia stuff. Great great sound.
This is what track processing and FX are for.
It's not like all classic synths were recorded in songs completely dry with no processing or effects.
Thanks. Yes maybe I was a bit harsh in saying it sounded like rubbish but they rely heavily on effects, which the originals never needed to.
WURIZA 16:32
Great Job as always! Love your playings!
different experience having everything all in one unit, fun to play without a computer sometimes, I prefer real analogue but can't deny the convenience and complexity digital can give you, room for both
Software synths are awesome for the money. Only thing I miss on the old synths are the hands on knobs and switches
hmmm the only thing I miss is the sound of the old synths. The looks is here. Most of Arturia emulations don't sound very authentic and convincing, actually. Oooh, new laptop and screen, congrats :-)

Did they get rid of the drum machines? I got V9 but don't think i saw the drum machines in there
Can you please produce a CC version? Would like to understand what you are telling us. Thank you!
Even his talk is music to my ears ;)
Another thing I guess, is that there needs to be aliasing where it was originally too no?
AWESOME!!!!!!!

このReviewがちょっと古くなってしまいました。最近、V Collection 6.0が発売されています。 この新しいヴェーションをDemoとReviewが出来ますか。
お願いします!
Noob question: can this mimic any intruments? eletric guitars, bass etc ???
I suggest you do what we were doing back in 1990 in our first incarnation as "Burnt Republic" where I ran all of real synths and drum machine through VARIOUS guitar distortion Stomp boxes. He always seem so excited! HAY!
さまざまなシンセをバリバリに紹介していくウジイエ先生の動画は最高......と。
nice egg monitors! Heard great things about them
Yes to all. If you have a look on the arturia forums, youll find cpu spikes to be a common problem. My computer meets all the requirements.
would love to hear this translated, particularly his impression of the quality of the sounds compared to the originals. Wish I spoke Japanese!
Is the retro drums still included in the current package ? Cause they are NOT mentioned anywhere on Arturias site as Being part of the V collection
Lol translate into English, and its another epic tale of a model, he has reproduced this with beer, money and the dream, and there is never such a future.
Epic stuff.

idk what it is, but I have the v collection and although the sound is inspiring the layout is not
Raw synth without effects always sound thin. My Little Phatty doesn't sound phat without reverb and chorus.
the disks are 6.66 gb.... its the devils dvds
profetto 5 : )
don't use your computers DAC and you won't have those problems.
when the master plays you hear what he plays not listen to his talk !!

DX7入ってたら買うんだけどなー
typical, get voted down for having a good ear, I wouldn't say they sound rubbish but it's a bit bland if you're used to the real thing
DR55は名機である。(^◇^)
JP-08 is better
hahah he plays similars songs because copyright problems , very funny

I can confirm that SparkLE is garbage.
Then learn Japanese.
