Some plants are surprisingly drought tolerant. I have found tomatoes 🍅 varieties like Rio Grande and Abu Rawan to do well when it's dry. RATTLESNAKE pole beans and squash in the Cucurbita moschata squash family like the heat.

I keep looking at the forecast hoping for any rain we can get. It’s always surprising how far a little harvest can go when you work them into your meals. Thanks for the tip about planting basil with tomatoes I didn’t know about that. You still have a wonderful garden producing a good deal of food.

From the end of June to the end of August it gets rough here too. Watermelon, squash, cucumber, okra do well, but tomatoes take a hit! If you can baby them until September, they will kick back off! Shade cloth is a life saver in Texas. Our fall harvest is often better than spring. That mint will swallow those beds if you don’t stay after it. 😂I think your garden looks good, just taking a break until it cools down 🤷🏼‍♂️
