    Probably the best video I've seen about saffron crocus. I got lucky and all mine flowered right away after planting. Now they are green and look like grass, storing energy. I can't wait to see if they multiplied when I dig them up in spring.

    Hi. What is the watering schedule once yoi have planted?

    • @SeedtoLife
      @SeedtoLife  Рік тому +1

      Water the bulbs only during growing stages. When the flowers bloom or when the green leaves come out. Let the soil dry out between two waterings. Other times when the bulbs are dormant, you can either dig them out to store or keep the potted bulbs where they don't get wet.

    How does it expand? The flowers pollen??

    • @SeedtoLife
      @SeedtoLife  4 місяці тому

      No the flowers are sterile. The corms/ bulbs produce more bulbs like potatoes. They grow and produce more plants.

    How to pollinate it?

    • @SeedtoLife
      @SeedtoLife  Рік тому

      Saffron is grown from bulbs. It doesn't produce seeds. So, you can't pollinate it. Bulbs multiply underground to give out more plants.

      I have been coming back to watch your video many many times.
      It is one of the nicest videos out there showing how to grow saffron in a pot at home and how to pick the flowers.
      My first ever saffrons have started to send up their leaves.
      I only have ten crocuses and only the first two have come up through the crust of the soil. One is short and has many long small green leaves. The other is strange, it has sent up a long single white tube. Perhaps this will be the one that holds the long leaves inside and may not have a flower this year?
      I will look forward to any of their flowers though for sure.
      Many many happy greetings from Tasmania .......... ♡

    The origin is Iran. in recent year, the corms were also transferred to Greece, Spain and even NZ and Now they also produce saffron. But none of them have the quality, the color and the smell of the Iranian ones.

      Thanks for the compliment! Saffron or any other bulbs need careful (very little) watering and extremely well-draining soil (loose soil). Even if you don't water them for weeks they stay dormant in the soil. Email: seedtolife20@gmail.com.

    Origin of Saffron is Kashmir.
    Iran and Spain stole it during their regimes, during the Sassanid period and Vasco da gama captured Goa in Bharat only recently during the Mughal period!

      Thank you Sandra.
      This is the verse
      my parents got my name from back in the Day. They both loved the name Saffron. They said if they got married they wanted a girl and they were going too name her Saffron. Everyone in my parents family loved the name Saffron.
      So here I'm.
      'I were the last grandchild born.
      So when I got older all my Girl Cousins were older then me.
      They would ask their parents why didn't you name me Saffron?? They said her Mom Dad picked her name out along time before they were ever married.
      And we wasn't going too take their name. My parents were sweethearts in school.. I'm glad they loved the name. My Mother's favorite Spice Color's were Saffron bright yellow 💛 and orange and purple.
      It's strange my favorite spice colors are sage. Cinnamon. and
      Paprika. My favorite spice name is Saffron. So God blessed me with my name. I'm pleased with it. That's all that matters.

    Saffron and Cinnamon is in the Bible as a cheap 🌿
    (Spice) in Jesus's Day. I've never read anything about the
    Saffron Crocus.
    As you know the Bible has been written over so many times too meet this world's
    narrative. 'I do know in Jesus's Day he wanted his people too eat healthy foods and take care of their self's.
    This world don't want to exknowage the good things Jesus created while he were on this earth. They want you to think Men on this earth created all good things.
    Well they didn't
    They created your
    "Sloppy Joe's" and
    Your "Fat Macs"
    And your "Jingle Jangles" "Fat Belly"
    Jesus' wants his people too eat healthy and be healthy. God Bless

    video is weirdly superstitious and does not actually seem knowledgeable at all about the planting/growing process. this is more like a blog type video rather than an instructional video.
