Hey Dennis! I really enjoy your videos. I've learned quite a bit about jets by just watching. Two months ago I got my first jet boat. 17ft southfork ss with a 2020 60/40 jet. Love it so far, but I had an issue last week. Got six beeps after starting it and it was in limp mode. Changed spark plugs and added oil and it seemed to fix it. Went out the next day and my idle is rough, like its missing and it jerks the engine when it misses. Anyways its at the dealer now, so I should know more. This video got me thinking though. What tools do you recommend always having with you out of the water when it comes to taking care of the jet/motor? Obviously that multipurpose jet tool, but anything else you recommend? Might be a good idea for your next video as well. Thanks for you vids, and sorry for the book I just wrote! lol

Hope that gets worked out soon. I keep a 10mm socket with a short extension to pull the thermostat off. Mine gets clogged often. Also like to keep whatever opened end wrenches you need for tinkering with the reverse gate. Other than that about all I got.

Just got the same motor you have got. That’s good information to have thanks. Got a question. I’ve noticed that you have removed the two bolts that limit how far you can trim down. Do you recommend that and does it help get on plane faster?

Yes remove them and yes helps get on plane.

Hi Dennis I have a question about the outboard you have. Just starting using my Blazer 1752 Mercury 60/40. I’m at the 7 hour mark and follow the break in procedure. I just top off the fuel tank before the river and the motor will not go over 4000 rpm. When I engage the shift handle to 3/4 I reach the 4000 rpm’s and when I push down the handle nothing. I check to make sure anything is connected. Look at the fuel filter and looks good. Could this be bad gas? Tomorrow I will call the dealer. So much for fishing.

Call dealer and he believe the spark plugs have foul during the break in procedure. Too much idling or slow speeds. Replace the spark plugs and I’m good to go. The plugs had a black residue on them and one of them was still wet.

Very possible I have had a spark fail on one as well. Hopefully that will be the case. Easy fix
