Starlink just got the go ahead in my country. People think the deal was shady because of who they had to partner with but we'll take it! It's already shaking up the high end VSAT and Fibre market before a single kit has officially been sold!I can't imagine what it would do if this zero upfront cost package makes it here too! I'd written Starlink off for myself but yo, this would change all that!
They provide broadband Internet access to the WORLD (80% of it, anyway), launch new satellites every week into orbit, and people quibble about the cost of the terminal. I kind of live in the boonies and would pay thousands of dollars for the terminal, to have Internet access.
U pay once per 5 years n beside that u havd many choices to pay less for another phones types but for SL its only one as space services so its unfair compair
When people say that the equipment and/or service is too expensive, they have to be reminded that the service is primarily intended to be used where there are no other sufficient alternatives such as a WISP or 5G. Considering all the other satellite services available, the speed and ease of installation, it's a bargain. When Starlink's direct to cell phone service becomes available, I believe it will literally be a life saver when you can be ANYWHERE and text a 911 from any 5G capable phone.
You're looking at it wrong. Musk stated that Starlink was _intended_ for rural areas without other options, but that's not the way it happened. People in large cities with cable and fiber options were getting Starlink when it was still unavailable to people in rural areas. (I had to game the system to get my Starlink by ordering using an address in a big city but having it delivered to my rural address hundreds of miles away and I fortunately activated with no problem. I had lousy OTA internet and was desperate enough to pay Starlink's asking price.) I can see pricing differences with say fiber. Cheaper in the city and more expensive in rural areas (if it's available at all), but this does not apply to satellite service. Starlink is expensive everywhere even though the cost is no higher to beam data to New York, New York than to Dingus, Oklahoma. Starlink is the _only_ ISP I ever had to _pay_ for my equipment. Claiming the equipment is expensive is BS. $600 for a dish and a router is ridiculous. I never paid for equipment when I had Dish Network for TV and my monthly costs were a fraction of Starlink cost. I never paid for _any_ networking equipment from _any_ ISP other than from Starlink. Starlink is simply taking advantage of desperate people who have no other viable options. You want internet? We've got it for you, but you'll need to pay out the ass to get it. If any Starlink competitors ever actually get their systems going, only then will Starlink prices come down. Until then Starlink costs will continue to increase. Why would Starlink offer such a payment plan? Because they're too expensive and going to get _more_ expensive. The Elon Musk's promise of low cost gigabit internet will happen the day he personally sets foot on Mars - if ever. Granted, Starlink is a godsend for desperate people, but it is an over priced expensive gouging godsend. I was thankful when I was finally able to subscribe to a different ISP for well under half the cost of Starlink, with higher speeds and free equipment. There's a reason Elon Musk is the richest man in the world.
$1 down for a $399 "refurbished" kit is what I did and all is fine! Yes I tried a few years back to get service and all that was available was a waiting list. When you kick back and think about it the technology is remarkable and affordable.
I’ve had Starlink for about 3 weeks now and it’s okay so far. Latency is higher than I’d like and not as stable. I’m keeping it in the hopes that latency will get better as well as upload speeds.
Joe, I’m going to finally pull the trigger and get StarLink. Your video presentation is impeccable. Awesome job. I also sent an email to Mr. Musk, not sure if he reads it, about all your work on StarLink. Keep up the great videos Joe. I’m a fan of yours for life.
I bought mine refurbished as soon as it was available in Michigan. I imagine financing will lead to several returns and more refurbished units. I did need to install a 4x6 post 80 feet from my house to get the best view, dig a 18" trench, lay down conduit to the post, buy a roof mount(less vibration) and the 45M cable. So being able to buy refurbished offset the cost of everything else people don't think about. But now if I ever need to adjust the thing I can simply walk to the edge of my property and adjust things manually.
If I was a new customer to the Starlink, I would pay the upfront and done with it. However, the financing option will work for many people. According to my retired neighbors who are currently finish building their home, $120 per month Is still steep. Thanks for the new info.
I noticed an offer on Starlink's website in February where they were offering the actuated Gen2 for £10/month on a rental basis (UK). This was perfect for me as I didn't have the funds to purchase outright at the time. Big fan of the channel, thank you so much for your content. Best wishes.
Consider the two main benefits of Starlink are the availability of high speed internet anywhere on Earth and portability because you own the equipment. If you're just wanting internet service and your location offers it terrestrially, that might be the better option for you. I have my Starlink for camping, so I have the same high speed internet anywhere with ease, just like I was home. That's my major benefit.
If you are taking this camping, how much is the total weight that you have to carry? On a long trip, I figure a bit over a pound a day for food, so what is relevant to me is how many days of camping do I have to shave off of a trip in order to be able to post from anywhere?
they are giving newcomers easier way of acquiring the product which is a steal for newcomers, but for us beta and alpha clients we should at least have some priority for the loyalty to the service! love the content J keep up the good work!
I finally instead of renting it, i bought 225 euros my equipment and now i am "boss" of my equipment and is -15 euros and pay 40 per month. I am not considering change my gen 2 till the seagulls (oh yes) destroy it. By the way the rental told me is forever that means no matter how much you pay per month even 5 years you will still pay that extra rent. Just BUY IT! So far i see the latency going down and is good, but speed is not good.
Glad to see this option. It is honestly why i held off for awhile now. There no cable/fiber in my area yet. Started installing it just recently be awhile till they get to me. Gonna have to look on the site or email a question to see if i can do larger then $50 payments sometimes. Like i have extra money so pay it down faster.
Spectrum is hot garbage, I switched from that huge scam that screws it's customers over and never looked back. Their speeds are trash and the equipment is cheap made garbage that drops devices left and right with that built in AI speed shifting firmware is the main problem, they lock you out of settings so you can't manually set your routers....over all they are pure shit of a company...go ahead if you want to sit on the phone on hold for 2 hours waiting on SC to help..just beyond ridiculous worst ISP in the entire market.
I wouldn't mind a upgrade program for their newest gen Dish. Would be really nice too if it worked off the existing Gen3 (Square) cable style etc. Since the new Dishes seem to be slightly better over all every little bit is nice.
Please state the city or state you live in when you cry about the price. I want to know how privileged a life you live in. I live in the rural west Texas option where there is NO reasonable offer. A wispr wants $80 for 50meg of bandwidth with data caps. I live 10 miles from a town of 120,000 people. 4 miles from a town of 2200 people. 300ft from an att cell tower with no home service option from att. I own 3 units, 2 active units. 1 portable, 1 stationary.
Here in Cebu Philippines Starlink costs $45.96 usd per month, but I can get prepaid fiber for $22.11 usd. I can do unlimited 4g LTE for $15.32 usd per month. Starlink only makes sense out in the countryside where there is nothing else available. I retired here for the low cost of living.
Glad they did this I think they had to because they are too the limited of the people that could have afford it for this amount. I wish they had this when I got it.
Africa, Asia, South America SpaceX has just scratched the surface of these places you’re talking 100 million users 10 billion a month In revenue with a very high profit margin that takes you straight to Mars.
Had read about the finance option a few days ago. Must not be available in some places. It's not available in Mississippi currently. With shipping and tax, $662 due upfront.
I waited 2 years on the list and got nothing but plan change updates and watched RV'ers get service. Meanwhile Elon sent a crap load of systems to Ukraine. So i wasnt waiting anymore and just got cellular home service through my cell provider at 1/3 monthly cost of starlink with rougly same speeds. Its a shame because I really wanted the service. Dont get me wrong, i like Elon but did feel alittle forgotten as i live in the sticks.
Similar story on my end too, however I did get mine finally. However, I too went with a cellular service too, instyconnect. I had to provide the sim card, but I'm still paying half the price and speeds good enough for what I need. I will be looking g at the gen 3 service items to see if it is worth it or not, and my gut is telling me no.
In order to qualify for the installment agreement then you must pass a credit check which defeats the purpose of getting the service in the first place --- some people don’t have good credit but they do have the means to make the monthly payments --- so we are back to aquare one !!!!!!
Yes, installments will help with purchase price. But when you live on $1100 a month, its the monthly cost that stops me, unless I get the mini, as my residential. And if I magically can afford my dream trips, I'll have internet. But it's the monthly $120 that is a no-go.
I recently ordered and promised 5-7 days shipping. They take your money and then change the ship dates to 3 weeks out before even shipping it. Bait and switch!
i get the push for new clientele but i think taking care of us existing and early adopting users should trump that..price cuts on service bills discounts and trade ins on old hardware. There is a plethora of actions they could implement.
It's kinda of an interesting angle to get new customers. Maybe they should accept PayPal and most people do have an account with them; most qualify for their Pay in 4 program that breaks it down in 4 byte sized pieces. You pay PayPal the first quarter down and the vendor (SpaceX) gets paid in full for the equipment cost; from there its just between the customer and PayPal. Also, did I mention it's interest free? I've made plenty of large purchases $1,000 or less including taxes, shipping, etc. that way. The only catch is that your payment schedule starts on the day of purchase and its the next payment is in 2 weeks after that. If you're not watching our cashflow, you can get yourself in a pickle on insufficient funds fees. If I did my meth correctly in my area with equipment, taxes, and shipping would break it down to $165.58 for the down payment and $168.58 for the remaining bi-weekly payments.
Know your subject! Prior to new, they were restricted in the amount of traffic hey could support with the number of satellites that they had in place. As that number increased, their marketing has changed reflecting more capacity. I f Starship lift capacity is ever available, we should see price softening due to the amazing increase in capacity.
Is it coming out of my bank account? It is so expensive that you have to finance it in order to have it and with the agravation of a data cap internet.. who in the world would do that.
FYI this is not available in Hawaii. So, you may want to put that in somewhere. I am a current customer on Hawaii Island, and could not as a current customer, and I opened a new browser did not login, and still cannot get the financing if you live in Hawaii.
As always, thank for the great info! I’m getting ready to but mobile star link service at $150/ month so my wife and I can work from the road 4 times a year for 3-4 weeks at a time. Is that activation fee going to be charged every time I turn the service back on? Thx!
If I am paying 1/3 of the internet monthly cost, compared to what Starlink is charging per month, without the cost of equipment, why would I go to Starlink? Not cost-efficient for most of us, especially the retirees.
I’m currently stuck with Suddenstink aka Optimum in my area and they suuuuuuck. Been counting down the days until I have the Frontier high speed option but they won’t give an exact date and my neighbors already have it. At this point I’m probably going Starlink.
Hello, do you think that they will release a new gen with ACTUATOR? that's what i really need since i'm old & won't be able to climb d roof. or is there a way to have an actuator on the latest gen? thank u & more power!
I am still unable to get any answers from Starlink. my question is simple. Can I purchase the starlink in the US and take it to Panama Chiriqui Sortova and install it and set it up there? I don't trust DHL to make the delivery since I had many issues with shipments made in the past.
I wish I had known. I just purchased a dish for my camper, but honestly, I have been so impressed with the speeds; I truly think the speeds are faster than what I am getting through cable at home (I am at the end of their cable line, and it has been this way for years).
It's nice to learn that 3 million people can afford such an expensive service. Apparently the economy is working for them. As for many of the rest of us, Starlink is out of reach financially.
agreed. I got the Starlink a couple years ago when it was a hundred bucks. Even with the $500 for equipment it seemed reasonable for me considering I had no good broadband alternatives. Going up 20% in such a short amount of time seems a bit of bait and switch. But what you gonna do
It is still much to expensive. My fiber AT&T is $85 a month and practically unlimited. Disabled Seniors will have a hard time with this. $170 a month is lot for a small fixed-income household in these times and the inflation we have suffered already.
This is incorrect, they will charge you $599 after the 30 days trial plus $120 a month. Spectrum cable is $49.99 a month plus free equipments plus no activation fee. I will not and can not pay $120 a month for an internet service. They need to reduce their price to $50 a month for the service. I got one but I sent it back after a week and they refunded my $120 for the first month.
$120 a month seems reasonable to me considering it's a high speed lower latency satellite system. Not only that, this is the only system that didn't get government subsidized. It appears as though the government hates Elon. I for one love Musk net and pay for the cause not just the service.
Everyone can't get Spectrum. I paid the upfront cost 2 years ago and I have no issue with my service at all. I paid out of as rear for crappy Hughesnet satellite service years before Starlink came along. If there was an option for me to get Spectrum or any other high speed Internet service, trust me I will get it. As for now my only option is Starlink and I don't mind the price.
@@FrequentVirtue”high speed” my T-Mobile 5g home internet speeds in the middle of nowhere crap on anything Starlink has ever provided, with significantly better latency as well. Stop shilling in a comment section where NO ONE is going to fall for it.
Dude, why does that flag (sorta) type theme on your shirt ALSO look like either a death head or alien? That is creepy as hell and makes me wonder who/what you are really. Backward flag on upper arm must have some obscure symbolism as well. Admittedly, I am not up on all the stuff going on behind the scenes in our weirdly changing culture and political arena. Many are like myself, so it is easy to misunderstand what all this stuff signals. For myself, there is a sense of foreboding. Most of the friends I have, in my age group, feel the same. SO......please clarify...what are you really all about?
@@jcristina Compared to Home 5G, where I pay $35mo for 300mbps down 25mbps up, and I live in a very rural area..for those that can get 5G its the way to go til STARLINK comes up with a different model for slower speeds.
get rid of the ads on your fucking videos especially when they have nothing to do with what you are showcasing. 7 ads on a 14 minute video is bullshit.

I noticed an offer on Starlink's website in February where they were offering the actuated Gen2 for £10/month on a rental basis (UK). This was perfect for me as I didn't have the funds to purchase outright at the time.
Big fan of the channel, thank you so much for your content. Best wishes.
I’m so glad I nailed the refurbished gen4 option at $400 just before they stopped selling them. 🤙🏼😳
Oh ya.
And now the new hardware is 350 just purchased yesterday
How please? @@cvaaccura8851
I think this is a great move and this will definitely increase their customer base.
Great price.
I'm sure this will help some people. For me, the monthly service cost is a bigger deal. I guess I tend to think of the long term.
No upfront cost you say, probably time to give them a try
Great video, still staying with Spectrum, cheaper and no weather problems. I'm still looking for a better deal.
The best $600 I’ve ever spent!
Likewise.
I wouldn't mind a upgrade program for their newest gen Dish.
Would be really nice too if it worked off the existing Gen3 (Square) cable style etc.
Since the new Dishes seem to be slightly better over all every little bit is nice.
I’m waiting for them to make a big rig mountable portable version
The monthly fee is still so expensive. I love Starlink but $155 CAD is way too high for the service.
i agree!!
from saskatchewan!
I agree, from 🇨🇦
I pay $120 US. It may be a tad expensive, but having reliable service in the middle of nowhere is unmatched.
I own 3 units,
2 active units.
Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Completely understand.
I’ve paid for the hardware an entire month now and I’m still waiting. Yes I live in Trinidad and Tobago
Yes, installments will help with purchase price. But when you live on $1100 a month, its the monthly cost that stops me, unless I get the mini, as my residential. And if I magically can afford my dream trips, I'll have internet. But it's the monthly $120 that is a no-go.
Just Saturday morning my down was 264 the up was 25, jitter 3, ping in the low 20's.
Way faster than what it was when I first got in.
Wow
U can game with that
@@Demy1970 And I do, with zero lag, in the middle of BFE.
I recently ordered and promised 5-7 days shipping. They take your money and then change the ship dates to 3 weeks out before even shipping it. Bait and switch!
They recently moved up the shipping date, much better.
i get the push for new clientele but i think taking care of us existing and early adopting users should trump that..price cuts on service bills discounts and trade ins on old hardware. There is a plethora of actions they could implement.
I think once they're able to launch larger payloads of satellites at once with the Falcon Heavy rocket, costs will come down.
nah
@@csh9853 wow, so insightful
Love it!!!
Know your subject! Prior to new, they were restricted in the amount of traffic hey could support with the number of satellites that they had in place. As that number increased, their marketing has changed reflecting more capacity. I f Starship lift capacity is ever available, we should see price softening due to the amazing increase in capacity.
Known. 👍🏻 thanks.
I can only find the standard plan at $599 up front on the Starlink website. Am I missing something? Or too late?
Thanks.
Sounds good. Getting more subscribers with this incentive might roll over into lower rates. Dreaming of going back to $99... maybe $80?
Australia offer for the month of July $359 for hardware
Is this the one that’s on sale on their site right now ?
You have mi LIKE....Thank for all your hard work ....
Thank you!
Know one talks about how much your electric bill goes with star link??
Do you have that answer?
I haven't seen any current refurbished kit available
Is it coming out of my bank account? It is so expensive that you have to finance it in order to have it and with the agravation of a data cap internet.. who in the world would do that.
FYI this is not available in Hawaii. So, you may want to put that in somewhere. I am a current customer on Hawaii Island, and could not as a current customer, and I opened a new browser did not login, and still cannot get the financing if you live in Hawaii.
The biggest stumbling block is their delivery time. Almost a month now and I’m still waiting
I enjoy my Starlink so much, but I am wondering if I want to add another dish, do I have to pay another bill? Or could I have only 1 bill for both?
What about customer service. I keep hearing there is no one to call
I would make the order. But I don't see any options you're speaking about.
Its not the $120 a month that stops me its the $120 a month that stops me. I can get fiber in my area for cheaper.
My billing date was just changed, just payed 120 on May 24th and now they say your new billing date is June 4th 😯
Strange.
Mine too.
Hello, this finance offer was deleted, I'm looking many deferents location in California and don't have luck.
I have a feeling they are rolling it out. Give it a few days.
@@jcristina yes already have an offer, $99.00 upfront
I’m currently stuck with Suddenstink aka Optimum in my area and they suuuuuuck. Been counting down the days until I have the Frontier high speed option but they won’t give an exact date and my neighbors already have it. At this point I’m probably going Starlink.
You might have answered this before. Are you using the Starlink system while broadcasting on youtube?
Yes, Starlink for uploads. When doing the JCLive show we use Starlink and T-Mobile bonded together.
I am on their site now. Been waiting for a deal. But there is no option for the financing. ?? And the used equipment option vanished a month ago.
Ouch. I heard that is it rolling in certain areas. Hanging in there.
This is great news
🚀
If I bought the $53 “free trial” and they charged me the $120 a month for service, how much am I expected to pay for the equipment after the 30 days?
I don’t see that option. Is it based in location?
Hello, do you think that they will release a new gen with ACTUATOR? that's what i really need since i'm old & won't be able to climb d roof. or is there a way to have an actuator on the latest gen? thank u & more power!
No. I think they are done.
Thanks!
Wow! Thank you so much for your support and kindness. It truly helps and is much appreciated!! Blessings.
Love your T !!!
@JCristine If living in city does this still work well?
Is it now available for the entire country now? I tried to get it a while back but was told it was not available in my area
I can no longer find a refurbished option. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find how to purchase? Thank you.
It's now $299 for equipment and $120 month.
WTH I just received mine and paid for it!
🚀🚀🚀🚀
How long did they take to deliver?
I am still unable to get any answers from Starlink. my question is simple. Can I purchase the starlink in the US and take it to Panama Chiriqui Sortova and install it and set it up there? I don't trust DHL to make the delivery since I had many issues with shipments made in the past.
As long as it’s legal there, yes.
This new installment program is not for me, but I'm sure there is a lot of people that it wil help afford the cost of high speed internet!
Agree
I wish I had known. I just purchased a dish for my camper, but honestly, I have been so impressed with the speeds; I truly think the speeds are faster than what I am getting through cable at home (I am at the end of their cable line, and it has been this way for years).
👍🏻👍🏻
It's nice to learn that 3 million people can afford such an expensive service. Apparently the economy is working for them. As for many of the rest of us, Starlink is out of reach financially.
I just looked up starlink and there is no option for the finance!
dose starlink still offer this becuase i been looking for this
If they split it across 24 months and lowered the cost to $100, similar to what major US cellular companies charge you would be a no brainer for me.
agreed. I got the Starlink a couple years ago when it was a hundred bucks. Even with the $500 for equipment it seemed reasonable for me considering I had no good broadband alternatives. Going up 20% in such a short amount of time seems a bit of bait and switch.
But what you gonna do
I literally do not see that option on starlink website. It wants the full 599
😞
What if I only need 60 gigs a year.?
Or as of today, you can buy it outright for $299
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I just looked up my address and it does not offer financing. Im wondering if this is varied state to state.
Central FL FYI
Same here no finance option in Green Bay. Maybe I’ll do a Home Depot credit finance
I bet you’re right. Might be a slow rollout.
It is still much to expensive.
My fiber AT&T is $85 a month and practically unlimited.
Disabled Seniors will have a hard time with this.
$170 a month is lot for a small fixed-income household in these times and the inflation we have suffered already.
Question? Why do people not hesitate to drop a GRAND for their iPhone? Dishy is not expensive!
Because almost no one pays up front
The phone can be viewed by the public as a social signal, the dish can not.
im on the starlink website and i dont see an option for payments.
😔
They block with ad's I can't see your content. AD after after AD....No end of adds.
Strange.
Is it really worth getting star link what is your ping when you run a speed test
22-32ms
@@jcristina so it is worth all that money
@@jcristina thank you
This is incorrect, they will charge you $599 after the 30 days trial plus $120 a month.
Spectrum is $84.99 a month as of my latest bill. They only give the intro rate for a year. Add another $7 a month if you want to use their router.
@@FrequentVirtue”high speed” my T-Mobile 5g home internet speeds in the middle of nowhere crap on anything Starlink has ever provided, with significantly better latency as well. Stop shilling in a comment section where NO ONE is going to fall for it.

so much blah blah, price needs to go down to under 100 a month for roaming
It's not the cost... It's the I don't want to end up with xfinity again and shitty service
still too high
Dude, why does that flag (sorta) type theme on your shirt ALSO look like either a death head or alien? That is creepy as hell and makes me wonder who/what you are really. Backward flag on upper arm must have some obscure symbolism as well. Admittedly, I am not up on all the stuff going on behind the scenes in our weirdly changing culture and political arena. Many are like myself, so it is easy to misunderstand what all this stuff signals. For myself, there is a sense of foreboding. Most of the friends I have, in my age group, feel the same. SO......please clarify...what are you really all about?
Most people around the world and many in the U.S. believe it is the real evil empire.
Standard speeds for residential is still too slow for the monthly fee Starlink wants...
Así es, no bajan los precios y no ponen planes con tarifas más bajas con menos velocidades para que otros más oportunidades de tener un starlink
Compared to what. My Uverse / DSL from AT&T provide me 15Mbps download and 1.5Mpbs upload.
@@jcristina Compared to Home 5G, where I pay $35mo for 300mbps down 25mbps up, and I live in a very rural area..for those that can get 5G its the way to go til STARLINK comes up with a different model for slower speeds.
