[Title] Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace
[Introduction] Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace is a Chinese television series, also known as Palacial Dramas, based on a novel, Hou Gong Ru Yi Zhuan, by Liu Lianzi. And it's also a continuation of a story, named Betty Sun. The series chronicles the marriage of Qianlong Emperor and Haifa-Nara, the Step Empress from 1736 to 1766.
[Starring]Zhou Xun, Wallace Huo, Janine Chang, Dong Jie, Tong Yao, Xin Zhilei, and He Hongshan.
I really wish A'rou didn't betrayed her. I like her at the start of the drama and she really did care a lot for Ruyi. She hated it whenever Ruyi is being belittled and has to be the one to talk for her.
Yeah, she misunderstood Ruyi's good intentions to keep her safe and resented her instead.
A'rou was always loose with her tongue and hot tempered. I'm surprised she lasted as long as she did.
A'rou was the victim of her own.... Her hot temper and tongue would have been her undoing eventually, It was Ruyi who protected her much more than she realised. A'rou was manipulated and used. But, in saying that she allowed it to happen. The books were a lot more graphical as to her ending than the TV series was. Did she deserve everything she got and suffered especially near the end?..... in my opinion no. She was caught between a rock and a hard place and there was no escape for her regardless what she done. The others had made it impossible for her to get out of it. Although, one thing which always intrigued me was. Both the Emperor and Ruyi knew that the Empress and Noble Consort Hui were involved yet. The Emperor done nothing when he could have. He knew A'rou was being threatened. Yet. A'rou she was made a mute. But, she could still write. Why didnt Ruyi just ask her to write the answers to her questions. I felt especially in the TV series while she is kneeling before Ruyi in the snow she would have said things if could have. I guess in that we will never know..... As much as I loved the Character's of Ruyi and Hailan... they were both very cruel when necessary and especially Hailan when it came to defending Ruyi, she was ruthless... Which didnt really come across in the tv series.
@@nzcyclone whilst i agree with everything, the one thing i disagree with, As much as she could write to ruyi about what or who made her do this, she despised Ruyi, you can tell just the way she looked at her, she still had this feeling she compromised so much only to fall like this over the emperor's love for ruyi. The emperor is also a coward. He made her a mute and didnt do anything about the empress or Noble Consort Hui because of the importance in royal politics and how much power the clans hold. which is the stupidest thing ever and its his own greed.

I dont know it was just something in one of her looks which indicated she wanted to say something but couldnt and was in regret.... was not in words was in looks.... but as you said could be wrong she hated Ruyi and blamed her for everything even though it was her own doing. In regards the Empress and Noble Consort Hui. He could not take action then even though he knew they were involved. He even said that this is not the time.... He did in the end get Noble Consort Hui.... As to the Empress, I think he truly believed she could not be that cruel... but in reality she was the cause of 90% of it..... Ruyi only responded to protect herself or others same with Hailen, although, Hailen was the much more deadly and blunt out of the two of them. If they did not attack them then they would not have responded

She is an amazing actress. She appears calm throughout but she expresses a wide range of emotions, restrained and fitting the dignity of the character but so expressive. Eg. when her dad died and she didn't cry but her head was bopping up and down.

in the original novel, aruo's nails were pulled out and she was thrown in a bag with feral cats in it, sanbo whipped the bag and the cats went crazy to scratch and bite aruo. the tv series edited that part out that's why it showed the nail dialogue and aruo on the ground moaning while covering her fingers but didn't show the part where she was tortured like that.

@@alaiwatdapak6290 the series was an original chinese novel with the same name. ruyi and hailan both are very ruthless and alot more cruel than how they are potrayed in the tv series. especially hailan, she did a lot of nasty things to other concubines to protect ruyi, not as innocent as she seems in the tv series.

@@kyunghi I prefer Zhou Xun's version of Ulanara Ruyi. I'm not interested in history, but I am interested in strong female characters with ethics and integrity. Fictional or real, they are nonetheless inspiring.

I just observed when ruyi is not yet the empress the emperor really loved her a lot and wants to protect her but still he put her in cold palace, but when ruyi became empress it changes everything how ironic for the emperor and favor other concubine.. so sad

I really enjoyed this but the few I’ve glimpsed often seem to have unhappy endings (or only happy when they’re reborn like the one with the Phoenix) Anyone have suggestions as I’m new to these types? It can be Chinese, Korean etc I don’t mind historical like this but my preference is fantasy with romance

Notice only the consorts or “masters” have long nail. Look at Souxin she’s a servant so she doesn’t have long nails. Hence, Ruyi comments on the nail. It’s a symbol of a master/class. If you don’t have it you’re the servant. FYI - this is only for the Qing dynasty (1644-1912)

When Ruyi learns Aruo is mute due to the medicine given by the Emperor, she immediately understands the Emperor’s intention: let’s stop here, stop digging for info. Ruyi knows the Emperor is protecting the Empress and bringing it all up may well cause political trouble. So for the greater good, Ruyi decides to just let it go. Hence why Ruyi left it at that and didn’t press Aruo for more even though she could force Aruo to write it all down. Then again you could see the hatred Aruo still has for Ruyi so I doubt she would agree to write anything down.
