It's amazing how Ling/Yanwan is begging for her life and innocence until the moment she drank the poison. Clinging on the hopes of survival and turning things around just shows how well her character was written.
It brings me so much joy to see the look of horror and regret that slowly dawns on the Emperors face while Empress dowager rains brutal truth on him. I'm glad he lived the rest of his life in melancholy and regret. Ruyi and her pure love were in front of him the whole time and he did nothing but mentally torture her and physically abuse her..
I think when empress dowager explained ruyi’s character that was when the emperor realized the Qingying he knew and loved was still there in front of him he just became the shell of who he was as hongli
I really admire Consort Yu's friendship with Ruyi. Such devotion is rare to find..... if the Emperor had one ounce of that devotion and loyalty , Ruyi would have an easier time in the palace.
You better believe that. The emperor was cruel, heart broken, at the end she didn't left Nothing. No picture, letter, he tried to get it fixed and redone but the painter told him he can't re due it. He broke 💔 her heart so many times. And she was still loyal to him. All he had was her hair and the little tree 🌳.
Sistership. You can't pick your relatives but you can choose your family. Relatives are connected by blood and family is connected by love. Choose wisely who you share your heart with.
Ling/Yanwan is definitely worth all the hate. However, what she said is not wrong here. As a person who came from a background of nothing, she was indeed "taught" by the emperor and in a sense the palace/monarchy itself. The emperor exactly liked her for that reason -- that she is someone who worships him and is willing to learn anything from him, unlike the other concubines who have their own identity and principles. She started as a blank piece of paper that gave the emperor complete freedom to paint whatever he wanted on it. In the end, whether intentional or not, indeed he had shaped Ling to be a mirror of the worst version of himself-- someone who had mastered the skills of scheming in the palace, who is utterly selfish, and incapable of feeling love. Ling even went beyond him as his "best student" -- she ended up killing his children, and while he still expected obedience from her because of his superficial ego, she never cared about him. He knew that she was not a good person from the get go but still favoured her. He brought everything on himself honestly, and he still doesn't want to admit it here.
This is me giving you a resounding AMEN!!!!!! That's ( as I see it) the whole thing in a nutshell. He seems to have been a serial character assassin. If you will recall, he did the same thing to A'rou, and he got rid of them when they started surpassing his evilness, but Wei Yawan got a little closer to what she wanted than A'rou did.
There was another series on around the same time making her out to be the total opposite. In history she was elevated to replace Ruyi and her son became emperor. I couldn’t watch Story of Yanxi Palace after this series.
I think the most accurate historical representation of Consort Ling is that she was calculating and smart to get to her position of Imperial Noble Consort, but she wasn’t evil as portrayed in this series. There’s no historical evidence to prove either way if she killed so many of the emperors children. I think the way she was portrayed in My Fair Princess is the closest representation of how she actually was.
It does feel good to see Wei Clanswoman finally eat dirt but Ruyi is right. No amount of bowing to prayer flags will bring back Yongqi, Ling Yunche, JingSi, Yongjing and the other lives Wei Yanwan destroyed in her want for the empress seat. That’s the saddest part of all.
The Emperor was as much to blame for those deaths because he was too ignorant, blind and narcissistic to see the evil schemers and murderers who were in front of him, instead he killed and punished innocent people who were loyal too him. Ruyi loved him unconditionally and was loyal to him but he treated her appalling and he had to live the rest of his very long life in regret
Especially when you look at how she started off in the palace. Scared of her own shadow, but under Ruyi's tutelage, became one of the strongest and most ruthless consorts.
His mother warned him every stupid step he took that ruyi wouldn’t take his bullshit for long and he would regret it for the rest of his life and she was right
I dare not watch this full because it is too much for me. But small clips of this drama makes my heart ache for Ruyi. I admire her for being like what she was among the evils. She suffered, she was accused, she was in pain. But she never went low like others. To survive she did what she did. But others were greedy, they named it as survival but it was so tainted with greed that it became nothing but evilness.
In this show, this moment when Ruyi would not even see Hailan I actually cried then. I understand. And I think the actors did amazingly for me to be so affected. I read somewhere in an archeology magazine that a plain coffin was found in the elaborate tomb of Consort Chun (forgive I do not recall her posthumous title). The coffin is believed to be Ruyi's. However, I cannot yet backtrack the article.
I think i remember that article and it’s possible because step empress Nara was buried in the same mausoleum as imperial noble consort Chunhui (Chun) plus empress Nara’s funeral was that as an imperial noble consort but even then her service was subpar so to speak that it was like a passing service so if a plain coffin was found indeed it was empress Nara
Yes I read about it too and saw a few videos. The one that belonged to RuYi was in ruins . At first they thought the coffin belonged to a maid (which was unusual for a royal concubine tomb). After investigations the scientists decided it was RuYi’s. There’s only one portrait of her (supposedly) which in the arts museum in Dôle, France. The birthplace of one of the Jesuit painters Fr Jean Attiret.
They found Consort Ling's body remained intact after nearly 200 years - the only one intact in the royal tombs. She was given the title empress posthumously when her son became the emperor.. After thorough investigation, the forensic doctors reported that she was poisoned, whether Qianlong punished her like that or there was high mercury content & other toxins in her medicines (and made-up) as she was not in good health most of the time. Intriguing. And the authors have had a field day writing about stories of Qianlong & his concubines. I also read Qianlong's writings from the historians - he wrote that the "empress hated me" (hmmmm wonder what he did to Ruyi over the years....)! It was easy to label Ruyi as being insane.

At least 14 flags... at the least 14 lives her greed destroyed, not to mention the lives of the people she framed along the way who are still alive and those that lost their lives and haven't been counted among her victims. Edited to add: does it count since they had to make her do as she was told?
This story resonates with me so much. Love can be so strong in the beginning and must be protected or one can end up with a broken love that cannot be repaired...it can still be there...but it will never be the same. The Emperor didn't protect her and didn't treasure the love she had for him. He allowed people to get in the way, plotting and whispering in his ear...she was wronged so many times. Because of this, the Empress didn't want to properly share when it came to kids and kept Hui and Ruyi infertile for so many years.

Wei Yanwan is the Final boss villain in this Drama i thought its gonna be Gao of Jia😂😂
Mãe real...eu fui um babaca😁😁😁
Ruyi is the one push her to the edge 🤷♀️ at least ruyi die at the end
Now that is how you play chess!
Es muy triste
Does anyone know what that poison actually is?
Is it mercury n arsenic?
I wonder how the antidote works.
@@janetcook3631 I’m not sure, I’ve tried looking it up but that’s what I was wondering too, a poison that causes that kind of pain, how did the antidote work so fast overnight so she could take it every day and not die
Strychnos nux-vomica, which contains strychnine and brucine, two highly toxic alkaloids. Strychnine causes convulsions and eventually death through asphyxia. (This is simply what I read online. Please correct me if I'm wrong!)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ruyi loved
When they film about li mufeng, the tell about the cruel of ruyi. But, when they filem about ruyi, the potray li mufeng is an evil😂. That rediculous..😂.
It's hongli's fault. He is a man but can not lead his wives...so they fight each other😂😂😂
That's ridicolua😂😂😂
I like watching this scene because it enlightens me and gives me hope that no matter what schemes may be plotted against me or weapons fashioned against me, it will not prevail. God's justice will reign in His appointed time! If a man with all his shortcomings and weaknesses is able to punish an enemy, what more God,Jehovah who is all knowing and all powerful!!!. The just God who protects and comes to the rescue of those who truly believe in Him, calling upon Him and His mighty power! God of the break through😊
Why did emporer give her the antidote and save her?
So they repeatedly poison her. Poison, make her suffer antidote and repeat
So she could be poisoned again, and again and again. He meant it as a long torture for her sins.
She was poisoned, cured then fed the poisonous mushroom soup that was intended to poison Yong Ji for 10 years REPETITIVELY DAILY.
He said he wasn't going to let her have it easy.
To multiply her suffering
