I don't understand how a bird strike could do this, even if it took one engine out. The landing gear should already have been down, and the remaining engine should have been enough to bring the plane down safely, with enough reverse thrust to stop it. It looks like it was a failure of the landing gear. It looks like no landing gear down - even before the puff from the engine. I don't believe it was anything to do with a bird strike.
It's the second incident now where they say "it's the birds fault". That's bs! Where are the wheels/landing gear? And why on earth is there a thick concrete wall at the end of the runway? Something is going on and they lie to us saying it's birds!!

The landing gear needs hydraulics so one can assume the particular hydraulics failed .The speed of the belly landing was far too much and no flaps were applied hence the great speed .The totally unnecessary reenforced concrete wall at the end of the run off was insane. Abird strike is unproven and if so the engine was at fault . Boing have gained an awful reputation for doors falling off in flight new aircraft nose diving because of equipment and not informing pilots of the action to take in the event of the nose down effect due to a particular device. I would not go near a Boing passenger aircraft right now.

What if it turns out the pilots could have flown the plane to work the problem and chosen a different airport with a longer runway. There are scenarios where such a situation may have been avoided. An aircraft needs a certain speed for lift. If they slowed down too much they would have lost altitude and not made the runway at all. The pilot likely hit the runway as slow as he/she could

We know know almost nothing about the reasons for this accident yet. Do not blame Boeing for this one. Brakes on the landing gears should only be used for the final stop. The spoilers and also the thrust reversers are the main braking force for approach. Looking at the approach speed, it's clear that the crew were flying a f15.

It wasn't a bird strike that caused a wheels up landing. Gear can be lowered manually if hydraulics has failed. Did they forget to lower it?
