I have a friend who is a 911 operator. When he first started, he got a call, from himself! His Apple Watch kept hearing him and his coworkers repeatedly say "911". He took the call and thought it might be a hostage situation that couldn't talk. Listening to background noise, he realized it was in his own room.

There's so little levity for 911 operators; I hope he was able to get his laughs in after the fact. I'm going to be chuckling for a while at the idea of this poor dude whispering quietly to himself not to worry, and to just sit tight because help is on the way to his desk.

Smosh had an AITA story about a guy who would tell his girlfriend that she smelled bad all the time to the point where she was showering multiple times a day, asking her doctor what was wrong and going mentally insane and when she finally cut ties with him, he fessed up and said he learned from his father that if he made his girlfriend feel so low about herself, she’d never leave. My jaw dropped then and it’s dropping now. Who the actual fuck is so sadistic that they put their partners through this?!?!

A couple nights ago I was headed to pick up my husband from work. It is a half hour drive on a State route. My 4 yr old grandson goes with me to pick up his grandfather. A semi flew passed us. He asked me what that truck was doing. I told hm speeding. Next thing I know I hear him say call the police. I was like no don't call the police. The phone rings. He had called the police. So now here I am explaining to the dispatcher what had happened. You could hear the amusement in his voice as he asked my name and we hung up after.

Just saw a video where a little kid calls 911 and his mom was bringing in some stuff from the porch. Then, a police officer shows up saying “Ma’am we got an emergency call from here.” She was confused and said I never called you guys. She then realizes her phone is inside the house and immediately knew her son probably did. While she was stepping back into the house as the officer waits outside the porch, you can hear her say, “I’m going to beat his @$$” (black moms don’t play nor care haha). Immediately, her son came out the door and she asked “did you call 911?” The little boys says, “Yes.” The officer asked him, “Why?” To which the boy responded, “Because I wanted to give you a hug.” Damn! All kind of feelings in a span of few moments.
It went from being concern, funny, and wholesome. Still the officer gave the kid a hug and he told the kid just be careful and the mom further explain to him on why.
I’m not proofreading this long @$$ comment, so hopefully it makes sense. Hahah. Take care

Teenagers are often gifted surgeries for HS graduations. So to find a natural Korean woman is somewhat rare, to have her then to absolutely try to tear her down is gross. @@rhileynnnaHave you told him how you feel? It's really easy in long-term relationships to get settled and make less and less effort. Problem is, marriages take effort and constant work to keep them happy and healthy.
It doesn't have to be a row or an accusation, just two people who love each other, having a respectful conversation and saying how they feel. You may find out things he misses about your early relationship, just as he will find out how you feel. So long as nobody feels attacked and it's done in a mutually respectful way, you may find it really helpful.
Trust me, every married couple have to talk to each other about things like this. But if you let it fester, you'll get resentful and it could threaten your union and long-term happiness.

As a 911 Operator/Dispatcher in an 8 hour shift I answer 50-75 calls where someone accidentally called 911, 90% of which are iPhones or Apple Watches. The best thing you can do is stay on the line and tell the Operator that it was an accident, we are probably going to still send an Officer to check it out, but better that than a full SWAT team response.

I once heard my daughter talking in her room and assumed she was playing with dolls, or maybe an app as I'd given her an old phone that had no sim, and loaded it with some apps for her age. She was about 5.
After a few minutes i realise she sounds like she is talking to someone... there are pauses... not like she is play acting 2 dolls talking.
I go in and ask her what she is doing and she tells me she is talking to the policeman.
I laugh and say oh OK, what are you telling him? She says she is telling him how our cat was missing (10 minutes earlier we had searched for our cat that got out)
I'm like oh OK, we continue talking about her call to the "policeman" when i realise i can hear something coming from the phone.
That's when i found out you can call emergency services with a phone that doesn't have a sim card.
The officer was very nice about it, and asked me questions to make sure that there wasn't a bad situation going on and she was using the cat as pretext to get help.
He asked if the cat was OK and was so embarrassed telling him that yes the cat was just hiding under the car and my husband had brought him in already.

We suspect it's probably because they may have heard my (female) voice when he originally called and when they called back and he explained I asked "who the hell is calling at 5am?" And he shushed me because they were telling him it was 911 as I was asking and he got nervous and was trying to listen

I learned that the hard way (to not hang up) when I was a kid. We were just being dumb kids and messing around “pretending” we were going to call 911, and of course we accidentally ended up initiating the call (it was a home phone with no call button, so it would just start ringing after you dialed).
We freaked out as soon as we heard it ringing and hung up immediately, but they called us back repeatedly until my mom answered and she asked us if we called 911. Got in trouble, of course, and the operator told us if that ever happens again, to not hang up! But we never messed around like that again. 😂

@@HorseLady1109 Yeah, just explain it's a wrong # if you call 911 accidentally. I accidentally called them a couple of times trying to dial 411 (old landline days) for "information" , forgot to explain before hangup that I dialed 911 by mistake and shortly there they were at my door. They said be careful because they can charge you $$, either a fee or a fine ( I think it's a fine), I forget which, for accidentally calling. It was considered equivalent to messing around with or prank calling on the emergency fire department phones they used to have on phone poles when I was a child (even older landline days, lol). Even if it's accidental, after the first time they could fine you as if you had made a prank call to 911. So, be careful. Kids have no business having access to cell phones in the first place since its so very easy to put them out of reach. I mean, it's not like it's some heavy bakelite desk phone from the 1950s or 1960s or something ( the plug in the wall back then was NOT detachable until years later-phone guy had to go into the wall and hook up the phone and if you did manage to cut or snap the cord {very heavy duty cord, very hard to do}, there was no store where you could get a replacement for that type of cord, for even that ability came much later with the phone line jacks and the clear snap in plugs). The phone company had to send out someone who was more like an electrician to replace the cord and the in-wall plug. You can lock a cell phone in a cabinet, put it up very high, hide it, etc. Why do people let toddlers and children think that appliances and tools are toys? That's how kids get hurt. Some parents have the attention spans of fleas, too busy being kids themselves to parent properly. What happened to his wife's promise to watch them? Why wasn't the door locked, because I will guarantee it's not the first time the child has been allowed to wander from its mother's sight or care. Kids having kids. Ugh‼️☎️🏴‍☠️😤☠️⚠️⚡

My dad (her grandpa) had just explained to her how 911 worked and to only call it in an emergency, but my niece, being the bone headed kid that she was, called it anyway. Only she did not think that anyone would actually be on the line, so she immediately dropped the phone when the 911 operator answered and asked for her emergency, causing the headset to crash and break a ceramic cat food dish before she slammed it down again. Well, a police officer of course came, and the girl was bawling at the top of her lungs because she thought that she was going to go to jail. Luckily he understood, though he did do a full search of our house even so.

Everyone has a different idea of what’s beautiful to them. I truly believe that there’s someone out there for everyone. So you may be unattractive to some but to others you’re beautiful. And the only one whose opinion matters anyway is you. So I hope you have a great day and never think of yourself as unattractive ever again.

Grab the kid and phone from under the table maybe a minute later. Put the phone away, take my son and husband outside to wash cars. Fun fact: it DOES NOT MATTER what you dial after the first 911. You can press whatever you want to but if it starts with 911 it will only go to emergency services. Pro tip if you need to pretend you're calling for a pizza or something but need help.

I feel for the Korean girl! I had a very similar experience & the comment stayed with me for 10 years. I finally have a healthy self esteem, but words can really have an effect, especially if you’re vulnerable. I was online dating a guy named Adam for 6 months. We finally decided to meet in person & he was planning on pick me up to take home for the weekend. There wasn’t FaceTime back then, but we exchanged many many photos & videos- he knew what I looked like! Well, he gets to my house, gets quiet and standoffish, loads my luggage into his truck, then we set off on the road. 20 mins down the road, he stops at a gas station for gas and tells me to get out and come into the store. He took that opportunity to yell at me in front of everyone that “I am so ugly, it’s like driving nails through his skin”. He said not only did he not want to date me anymore, but he didn’t want to take me to his house. Other people came over to console me and defend me. It was the most humiliating thing I’ve ever experienced and cut me deeper than he knew. Thankfully I am healthy, self confident, whole, healed, & happy now- but it did a lot of damage for a very long time.

Do you get in trouble for the govt not putting working towers up? XD
I'm used to never having signal outside of cities and I live in the middle of nowhere and our country's telephone provider is getting rid of landlines while we have no mobile signal most everywhere. We're expected to have internet with no phone lines too. Guess I'll become a deeper hermit than I am already.

My teenager was home during the pandemic and was playing a similar game with headphones on. New neighbors had moved in next door and they could hear the yelling from the game play and called the police for a welfare check. My kid could not hear the police banging on several doors and ended up BREAKING MY DOOR DOWN!!!! It was not funny at the time, but at least we can laugh about it now.

When I first met my late husband, he told me I should always wear my hair long, as he.liked it and thought it suited me. So the very next day I went out and got a Pixie Cut, (which I love) I explained to my husband that he should never try to tell me how to wear my hair or anything else. We were married for almost 30 years before he passed. We had mutual respect and love ❤

I've always checked behind shower curtains because when I was a kid I was scared of murderers hiding behind them, and checking them became a habit. Normally there's nothing but one time I found a really big wolf spider 🕷️

@21:58, when the guy asked why she was leaving, someone else should have said, "isn't it obvious? It's because you're an asshole! Of course she doesn't want to continue having a date with an asshole!"

I think I might be more likely to find a spider behind the shower curtain than a person. I just don’t close the shower curtain in my house unless I’m taking a shower so therefore, I have no need to check 😂
