It’s so great to see what’s going on with bees 🐝 🐝 🐝 ,🍯 and marmalade. The honesty box is beautiful! Your videos are the best! We have a bee hive that I often walk past at Arkansas State University, where I work, that I am particularly enjoying watching thanks to your videos.
Excellent vlog about the bees Colin it's nice to see the bees out and about, it certainly does looks like summer. Made it back to Falkirk at half past 12 in the afternoon and turned around at lock 16 got back at the hire base at 18:30 pm and we've moored behind the bay Wren the hire boat what you both was on when you both did the union canal from Edinburgh to the fourth and Clyde canal up to Glasgow.
Mother Nature has her way of doing the right thing at the right time. Just, again, shows us who knows best so get out of her way. Depend on her and we will never go wrong, and the bees will be happy busy bees. 🐝🍯
Amazing vlog Colin ❤. Love watching you get excited about the bees I think you’ll have an amazing amount of honey this year. Shaun your honesty box is so cute you have great carpentry skills. ❤
This is a great presentation, being a beekeeper is both a lesson in hard work when you rob the hives and a lesson in nature, knowing how to look after your bees in the winter, how much food to leave then when they cannot leave the hives. Along with all of this is learning about these amazing insects and their impact on you as a beekeeper and on the natural world. you are doing a sterling job with your apiary but consider the possibility of more work as your hives expand. My family started with five hives and within five years we had twenty hives, and, in the end, we had 300 which meant a lot of travelling with the hives to chase their food in the Australian forests.
We had some bees here that were my mum's and even though I fed them a little over winter, I didn't think they'd survive. I was fretting during the crappy spring that they'd need feeding but every mild day they were out foraging. A few weeks ago they produced two fair sized swarms. Then I decided to get someone to adopt any left and apparently there were enough to start two hives. They arrived as a swarm last year and must have been a good strain because bees rarely do well here. Not enough for them to eat in the summer months I think.
I love it when you two do videos especially about the animals and projects that yous do! Colin it's so interesting to see different aspects about you on the live stream you seem like a comedian and then on some of these other videos about the bees You seem like you would have been a wonderful teacher I know we learn a lot and are very entertained and thank you both so very much Best wishes on your coming wedding
thank you guys, I am laying in hospital at the minute, not well, until I caught your episode. It's cheered me up no end, with your great content and happy sunny faces
Your bee super build demonstration was absolutely in the Blue Peter class 👏💕. All you needed for the Blue Peter badge was the use of the words ‘sticky back plastic in there somewhere! I’ll expect demonstrations of how to build Tracey Island and the ‘Advent Crown’ (coat hangers, tinsel, and candles!) next! Absolutely fascinating, Colin 💕👏 🐝
I now understand a load more about the Bees and how to get the Honey. A really interesting and instructive video. Thanks so much. Keep well and safe. James.
Great video today. I always learn something new when you talk about the bees. Looking forward to tasting this year’s harvest. Have a great weekend. Cheers. 🥰🥰🐝🐝🐝
I think bees are awesome and I love seeing updates on your hives! Hope you did end up getting to the beach and made the most of what looked like a lovely Highland day!
I'm always amazed by the quality of photography of your videos. The exposure is always spot on and the framing of the images is spectacular. I always wonder what your day job is and if it relates to film or tv production. Thanks for the wonderful videos, wishing you well from Wisconsin!
Colin, thats just starting down here m8! 🥶 Was watching bees out the winda on the neighbors bamboo tree flowers. AMAZIN! Been thinking about Bees a bit lately. Like where you put that box, 🧓
Love your videos. Makes me smile every time. We're currently sitting next to an open fire on Lake Coolmunda, Inglewood , Queensland, where we are camping. Is marmalade and honey shipment OK to Australia? I know it was a problem in the past.
After a rough day, I'll tell people that I need to get home to my honey. When I get home I'll have a shot of Evan Williams Honey Whiskey. When I walk in the door I'll say, 'Honey I'm home!' ☺️
I live in Ottawa, Canada, near the edge of the city in a community of townhouses. For a decade I've wanted to keep bees on my roof, but we're not allowed to do that. They don't spray our lawns and we get a good variety of flowering plants around. I think it would taste great. But the neighbours are afraid of the bees. I saw a couple dozen bumble bees today, and I always encourage any bees around the place.
You teased us about going to the beach…then didn’t show us! I think many would agree that would have been a nicer outro than bogie patrol! 😆 I hope that you do get some chances for swimming in the loch during these last few minutes of summer. Cheers, and ATB!
I would love to try your honey but unfortunately don't have the pennies to buy a super 😞 hopefully you'll have enough to sell some jars later. Watched your channel from the start and loving the content since you moved onto the croft.
Hi. I've ordered a super for your bees. Order number 107874. By any chance, can i have a jar of marmalade instead, please? The Orange and Whisky one? Many thanks. Rachel
Would you consider doing a beekeeping beginners course for military veterans who struggle with their mental health in the future as it is something I would do with you. Greg 🇬🇧
Sorry if you've been asked before or if it's a silly question but do your bees only produce runny honey? Is it a different process for thick/set honey? I love you two and look forward to all your vlogs 😃🐝
Colin, you should never doubt yourself because you are a really good presenter and narrator.
That was another good and interresting vlog!
Thanks! For fun videos and for letting strangers enjoy your adventures with all you two do!
Wow! Thank you so much, Dino 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I can see why bee keeping is such an interesting hobby. So much to learn. You've got to get a great feeling of accomplishment.

Another great video. The new workshop looks so professional. With summer approaching it looks like a hive of activity. Happy croft living.
Thanks 👍

As always, enjoyed the video.

Awesome, thank you!
Really good episode! Educational about hives, swarming etc. Funny. Quite interesting
Thank you 🙏🏻
Great vlog thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Honey taste...yes! We live on the coast of Maine (usa) and the blueberry honey is definitely distinctive in flavor.
Sounds good!
Is the super honey to buy still available?
Yes, there’s a link and information in the video description 👍🏻

You 2 are a kick in the pants! Too funny! Marmalade and whiskey, hmmmm..... sounds good. Beautiful day out, enjoy your 6 hours of daylight! Thank you!
Fantastic work guys
Thank you very much!
Is there a difference between wild, bees, and tame bees?
No bees are tame
"When I caught Gerald he was completely wild." "Wild? I was livid!" ( see Not the Nine O clock News) I could imagine your bees saying the same! 😂
Love your videos. Makes me smile every time. We're currently sitting next to an open fire on Lake Coolmunda, Inglewood , Queensland, where we are camping. Is marmalade and honey shipment OK to Australia? I know it was a problem in the past.
Yeah still a problem, your import laws a very strict x

Amazing! Thank you! Yes, of course you can have some marmalade 👍🏻
so interesting!!
Glad you think so!
What a wonderful vlog. I enjoyed it very much. A question: do you have any bears up in Scotland that could steal the honey from you?
No bears in Scotland 🏴 👍
Thanks for the explanations, enjoy the Scottish summer!!
Thank you! Will do!
Would you consider doing a beekeeping beginners course for military veterans who struggle with their mental health in the future as it is something I would do with you. Greg 🇬🇧
Im honestly not qualified or confident enough to teach others, but it’s very nice of you to suggest it.
@@FoxesAfloat if you ever do sign me up 😊
Great video!!! 🌷🥰👏🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
Thank you! 🤗
Awesome video! I am wondering... what happens if the bees run out of space in the super and another one isn't added? Do they stop producing ?
If it gets too overcrowded, they would swarm x
@@FoxesAfloat WOW! That's so good to know! Thanks for your reply! ❤
Hey Summer. goodmorning
☀️☀️☀️
It’s all coming along splendidly isn’t it? How many hives have you got now? :)
We have 21 👍
🐝🐝🐝Bees
I found out this week that a pollinated forget me not has a yellow middle and fades to a white when theirs no nectar left. Very clever😊
It certainly is
Wear that protective suit. Bee careful. (couldn't resist that)
My wife just found Britain by Narrow Boat
The beach?
The beach!
We get to see Colin's heiney again?
🙄🤣🤣🤣
Can't imagine that very, very long winter, and shit spring, wasn't much use to Honey Bee's no.
Haha. Say "...Cut combe honey...." after a few sherbets.
Forgive me father, for I am Colin, and your day is screwed! :) Great vlog! Love you guys!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Aren't the bees going to bridge the gaps in the 10 frame supers?
No, they build deeper comb.
Sorry if you've been asked before or if it's a silly question but do your bees only produce runny honey? Is it a different process for thick/set honey? I love you two and look forward to all your vlogs 😃🐝
