    They need to make an electric pedal drive with pedal assist just like an electric bike. Either pedal solo, assisted or unassisted. That would be the absolute best.

    My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

    FYI I used to have a canoe hooked up to a trolling motor here in FL, got ticketed by Florida Fish & Game. Don't know if it's still the case but used to be if you had any type of motor on any kind of vessel, the vessel had to be registered with the state and display the registration number on the vessel. Since you can't register a vessel if you don't have a title for it (kayaks don't have boat titles), there was no way to comply with the law.

    • @MNCasaPro

      You can still register them without a title. Many states are like that.

    The trend seems more bells and whistles added to the kayak, making it more expensive and less reliable. To me, the case for a fishing kayak is its simplicity, easy to handle, transport and close to action, accessibility, etc. With all the added drives, motors, autopilot, etc., it has become heavier, harder to handle and set-up and launch, especially, less reliable, especially on the water. If a fish finder goes wrong, nothing serious is going to happen, but if a motor or its electric component goes nuts, then you are screwed. An advice to the manufacturers, spend more time and resource to make the platform more stable, tracking well and easy handling, leave lots of space and possibility to customize. Finally, keep the overall price below $1500, you will have a good market.

      But if you're on a pedal drive or electric watercraft and don't have a paddle...you don't really belong out there do you?

      Thanks. I try to be as thorough as possible. Hard sometimes though with new kayaks and things still being developed. Don’t want to put details in video that could change and become incorrect when they finally start shipping new kayaks.

    Hello, came across your video last summer when I bought a Hobie compass and wanted to make some alterations. An opportunity came up for me to trade my 2021 Compass with kick up turbo fins for a 2019 Outback with the Mirage 180 drive but not the kick up fins. The Outback is in really good condition and I wanted to switch to an Outback for increased fishability and stability as I’m a bigger guy. The trade I want to propose to the guy is my Compass plus $500 for the Outback. In your opinion is that dumb trade on my part? I don’t think I would mind the Outback drive not having kick up fins as I don’t fish super shallow very often. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks

    Plastic adjusting clips for the seat straps do not hold up. I took webbed tactical belts from Amazon and put eyelets on them for the seat screws, use the belt adjustment to adjust the straps.

    I want a kayak but mine is too heavy to use anymore. What is the lightest kayak made? I dont care about features that will just add weight.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  3 роки тому +5

      Lightest weight pedal kayak is Hobie Lynx. 45lbs
      The absolute lightest weight pedal kayak with amazing performance would be the Hobie iTrek 9 at around 20lbs empty and 37lbs fully rigged. It is an inflatable pedal kayak.

    I'd recommend staying far, far, far away from their line of kayaks. The appearance is quality but the actual build is bad. Took me 3 kayaks to get a 103 that would float and work, and still the quality along the seams is definitely lacking in quality. You get what you pay for and it shows in their lines.

      I own nearly 20-30 FeelFree Kayaks. My only complaint is the foot pegs on the Moken kayaks break immediately. Literally all are broke. I will try to find a replacement 3rd party foot peg system. Other than that they are holding up to renters well. Only had 2 with hull cracks and warranty replacement was quick and easy.

      @@KayakDIY If you have a 3 water, feel around the area where the drive goes. The entire kayak feels like a tank, that area feels like paper. No clue if the feel frees are the same way but I'd assume they all use the same 2 piece welded build setup

      I have 108, and boy its stiff!! Feels like tank. I did went out and checked around after i saw your comment, and mine feels stiff all the way 🤷‍♂️ yet i live in sweden, so maybe they are double checking everything for export, wich i would find very strange. The price tag is same every where, so quality should be too.
