They won’t bring it up in any of their videos, but TSP did a really uncomfortable interview with a really bad interviewer in the form of Lew from UnboxTherapy on his podcast. Jakub kept making this weird reference to the F150 lightning content (maybe something happened at the event? not sure) and seems to think that the only reason TH has any more views is because they do drag races and not because they’re just making much better content. That whole interview made it seem like TSP thought they deserved to be the only game in town (Literally, I guess, because they’re both from the GTA) as far as Canadian car review channels. Honestly, I stopped watching TSP regularly a long time ago, but I basically stopped cold turkey after watching their true colors come out in this interview.

I think the reason the iX is better sorted than the i4 is that it is a dedicated EV, rather than a modified gas platform. In light of that fact, BMW have no excuse for making it aggressively ugly.

I bought in white because I'm too cheap to give +1000 euro to bmw for a metallic paint. It looks better darker, but who cares what people think. But I have the bowers & wilkins that's a pleasure for ears.

In the Ioniq 5 video James mentioned that he is looking for a replacement for the Audi he has, a family car. The Miata will most probably stay for the fun times
For me the main aesthetic issue is with the "headlight to whole front" proportions. The rest of the car isn't hideous, but surely not anonymous (remember the Bangle 7 and 6 series, that are now considered design milestones?) If only it wasn't that expensive, it would be a commercial hit...in the electric SUV-ish market

I was just stating that since its appearance doesn't seem to be the strongest "in favor" features of the iX, having a lower price would have been ideal to be considered the better choice among competitors.
@Carl Gunderson My logic is not that the cheaper of two items will be the more commercially successful. It is that if you make a good product drastically cheaper, a lot more people will buy it. The things that make it so expensive are the things that make people want this particular vehicle. To make it more affordable is essentially to give away for free its most coveted features.
I had one for a test-ride last week. It felt like driving a (heavier) version of my 540i G30. And that's the biggest compliment I can make for a car. It was silent, very comfy, went around the corners pretty damn well (especially for that amount of weight) and the iDrive 8 is WAY better than iDrive 7. However, the 50 is too pricey for me and the 40 doesn't offer enough range. So I'll stick to conventional engines for a while..
I was driving by my local BMW dealership yesterday and an all Black iX pulled out behind me. I had to slow down to let it pass me so I could take in all it's beauty. I instantly wanted one.

just for fun.. my iX 50 shows instant consumption of approx 1,9 kW when parked and listening to the BW system at 80% volume, so for a 100 kWh battery pack, you could listen to it for approx 50 hours before running out of juice. At 100km/h it uses 21kWh, so could propel the car during close to 5 hours.. So the sound system uses max 10% of overall consumption under normal operation.. Great audio btw!!

I love your stuff guys. I really really do. I watch all your videos and they're/you're awesome. That said, I wholeheartedly disagree with your take on ideal EV throttle mapping. I know you like it when you stomp the accelerator pedal and the throttle rolls up the power gradually. I find that annoying and an antiquated characteristic of the internal combustion era. In my view (and the way Tesla and some others do it) there should be a direct correlation between how much compression you put on the accelerator pedal and how much thrust you experience. So you can feather it a half inch to an inch or so of compression and drive in a very smooth pedestrian way, but if you stomp it, SNAP, install power warp speed time. For me that zero latency makes for a more connected driving experience and is truly what makes EVs so much fun to drive. There, had to say that. Keep up the great work, fellas!
BMW is hoping to get you in this thing to wow you with the sounds and interior before you reel in disgust at that front end. That said the inside does look great, and I can’t believe hoe well that audio sounded from your mikes into my head phone. *sigh* why can’t BMW’s just be totally solid and not always compromised

Test drove this last monday. It is fast. The interior looks good. But the exterior is not something to be desired. The one i tested had the Dynamic handling package which made it handle really well. Though you kinda feel you hit a plateau around 90 mph.
I was very critical of the front until I saw it in real life and I actually like it and would think about getting one and you can get them at a nice price used

This entire BMW generation has been, “how can we make the best car possible that nobody will want?”
The answer has been “make the outside absolutely horrendous” every single time
That car could never be so good that I would forgive the design
