I took one apart recently too, and PSA: careful when separating open that amp, I sliced my hand with the aluminum casing while getting it open, edges are sharp. Looking forward to Pt 2.

Well now I know to add this board to my "I do not repair" list. Thank you Damon for showing the teardown of this amplifier.

It is not that bad. Just going to be a bit of a pain due to no schematics for many years.

@@Crazylogix007 Agreed 100% I look forward to the repair on this one to see what IC's they are using if they are not defaced.

Looks like Rockford needs to check on the QC for their amp builders, no way that amp should have left the factory like that, now I want to check mine lol

Its current production, so Rockford should have parts.

Just had my exact same model blow the caps and shot fluid out the side closest to the caps. Got an RA number from RF, I don’t think they will repair it. I guess I’ll find out in the next few weeks. Got right about a year out of it.

All those pocket class D amps will have BAD capacitors. Why? Because they are using the cheapest most crappiest caps available, second the smaller the cap (electrolytics/wet) the less the capacitance is. Once they go out they will damage fets in the output section and power supply side.
Can’t believe they put that clamp bar 180 degrees out of phase lol.
